What is your favorite TV-series?
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to Hattuchili's topic in Random, Random, Random
^I think it was a different dance competition show I watched recently that had some really amazing (and famous) dancers on it too. The Jabbawockeez were on it and I saw them at Universal during HHN. I didn't keep up with the show so I don't know who actually won. All those shows make me want to learn how to dance. -
Glad I'm not the only one! I usually remember the general order of things shortly after my trip but usually don't bother detailing it out because who really cares what exact order I rode the coasters and how many times I rode each? I might remember one or two interesting stories from the day but not near the level of Bill. I'm only 26 and I guess my memory has already taken a hit from drinking.

This year they announced when CoasterMania tickets would go on sale at Winter Chill Out in late February, then tickets went on sale in early March. I think it was shared in Club TPR forum after that event, but not super talked about on the general forum since we all wanted our tickets first. I got my Club TPR membership shortly after Chill Out but before tickets went on sale. However, since Robb is a busy man, it's always better to get that early as well! I can't speak for more details about Club TPR since this is my first year having it except that it has been AMAZING to have this year and totally worth the small initial fee! I'll definitely be renewing. I don't think they announced the actual ERT details and schedule until a bit later but obviously getting tickets early is the priority. I'm not sure if that's what they usually do but that's what they did this year. -

Yeah, the coasters definitely get longer waits during Haunt than the mazes. The maze lines really do move fast. Bummer about the rain, but it sounds like it worked to your benefit as far as the Haunt mazes go. More chance for scares too if there's no one else in there. I still get pretty nervous about going through Haunt mazes alone (or with like one other person, since I still end up being the target) so I actually prefer to go through when there's a minimal wait. Doesn't look like there is rain in the forecast for this weekend, but that could change. -

Depends on what you want. KI is open an hour later and has more Haunt mazes and better Haunt mazes. Didn't see any shows at Halloweekends when we went but the shows at KI are great. Also: Beast, Diamondback, Timbers, Banshee, Bat, Adventure Express,... are all amazing at night during Haunt. Personally, I think KI has a better atmosphere during Haunt than Cedar Point does. Of course, you don't get Maverick, MF, and the others (except Dragster) but you can go on a summer night during ERT (or CoasterMania!) for the night ride experiences if that's what you're after. But yeah.... after going to Halloweekends once last year and once this year and KI Haunt many more times, I highly recommend KI Haunt over Halloweekends. Of the few mazes at CP, there are only a couple I'd really say are worth waiting a long time for, if any. Sounds like KI may be a winner. Can I expect the lines to be as bad as Cedar Point? I have a response for you but I'm going to take it to the KI Thread to not derail CP thread and for anyone going to KI who is interested. -

Thanks for the responses, guys! Also, someone asked a KI-related question in the CP thread and I decided to bring my response here: Depends on what you want. They can still be very bad, but it always seems like things cut down a lot 12-1, especially the mazes. Plan your night so that you are in the vicinity of what you want to do towards the end and you might be able to stuff quite a few in last minute (especially mazes). For example: Slaughterhouse is right by Beast and I always see it with almost no line as it gets closer to closing. Cavern of Terror is nearby too. Timbers and Diamondback are right across from each other but it's doubtful if you could fit in both of those + front row of Beast in that hour (and you DEFINITELY should end the night with a front row ride on Beast, but recognize that if you get in line just before 1, you'll get on it but most likely not in the front row). Beware of Field of Screams. It's definitely one of the best mazes, but the length of the queue can be deceiving since the queue goes through a lot of Dinosaurs Alive. If you see the end of the queue from the entrance, that is going to be a long wait. You also have to recognize that you have a decent walk from exiting the maze to get back. I definitely recommend this maze, but don't try to do it when you're pressed for time for anything else. Haunt doesn't start until 8, so obviously if you get there earlier in the day, you have plenty of time to ride coasters before Haunt starts and then focus on mazes more once it starts. Save Field of Screams, Wolf Pack, and the bayou maze for when it's darker. The lines I see get the longest are Blackout, Field of Screams, Cavern of Terror, and CarnEvil. I wouldn't recommend waiting too long for anything else since A. IMO those four are the best and the others aren't worth waiting too long for and B. most likely as the night goes on, the lines for the other mazes will thin out a lot more anyway. Good luck and let us know how you like KI! Maybe someone who has been recently on a Saturday can weigh in as well, since I've only been on Fridays this year. However, I think the general popularity trends still ring true whichever day you go. -

That orca encounter looks AMAZING! I would love that! I'll definitely have to look into it next time I go to Seaworld. And I definitely don't mind getting soaked. See: me willingly getting soaked in 40 degree weather at SFDK so I can be in the dolphin show. That song is the utter worst when you're stuck in the exit listening to it for over an hour because it's pouring rain and the lightning is too close to go anywhere else. Bonus: you're in charge of 15 middle-schoolers. However, I have since limited my consumption of straws since I learned that plastic straws get into the ocean and hurt sea turtles. Britt and I would get along very well at Seaworld! I can never leave without getting a stuffed whale, plastic whale, or at least something with whales on it (but I prefer plastic or stuffed whales. Guess childhood habits never die). However, I got to the point where I could not go to a gift shop ANYWHERE that had a plastic or stuffed orca I didn't already have (unless said orca was so lame and cheap that I passed it up on previous trips). I am also a whale snob because I cannot stand anatomically incorrect orca replicas. Great TR! And your story about the car is awesome!

What is your favorite TV-series?
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to Hattuchili's topic in Random, Random, Random
YES!! I never watched it when it was on the air, but I finally watched it a couple of years ago and thought it was brilliant. Lost is my all-time favorite show and probably always will be. I just love the concept, characters, and intrigue of it. I love that even years later watching it for probably the 8th time I still notice new things and gather new insight into it. It's one of the few (if not only) [fictional] shows that I've watched more or less start to finish when it aired live on TV. Having to wait a week between episodes and months between seasons (and even the minutes between commercial breaks) added an additional facet of curiosity and mystique that we just don't have in this era with entire Netflix series you can binge watch in a couple days. I know a lot of people didn't like the 6th and last season (or even 4 or 5) but I still really appreciate them for the canon that is Lost. I still sometimes wonder about what inspired season 6, but even in seasons 1 and 2 there are hints to things that happen in season 6, which suggests that that was always how it was supposed to end, not a hastily put-together season because of declining popularity (even though there was declining popularity). I'd still love to have a long conversation with J.J. Abrams about it. I love Lost so much, I named my Siamese cats Jin and Sun. We named my parents' cats Claire and Charlie, but Charlie died. I also got into Stranger Things recently and loved it. Can't wait for season 2. This might be controversial, but I really got into 13 Reasons Why and binge-watched it in like 2 days. I'm interested to see what they're going to do with season 2. I also still faithfully watch American Horror Story even though these later seasons seem to be grasping for straws and overall just not as good. AHS Cult so far has been very lame and not so compelling even compared to some of their others. In general, I find that AHS starts out good and then declines (such as Hotel and Coven). Roanoke was just chaotic and shocking and flipped things mid-season. Freakshow started good, got worse, then got better at the end. I hope Cult gets better because I'm really only watching it out of habit right now. Mostly, I watch reality/competition shows. I'm BIG into the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise, and I love Survivor as well, and sometimes watch Dancing With the Stars and America's Got Talent. Just keeping up with those shows keeps me busy most of the year. -

I have a KI history question, speaking of Bat. In looking at RCDB, there was a different Arrow suspended coaster called Bat that closed in '83, and the one we now know as Bat opened in '93. Why did they demolish a coaster to build another of the same type 10 years later? -
I just invented it. I was proud of that one. I liked that nickname too! I definitely wouldn't wait 40 minutes for that thing. I'm sure my little Honda is right there with you! Hondas are good for that kind of thing. Your trip reports are definitely some of the most entertaining on TPR. Don't worry that you are late to post them... I still haven't posted my early July/July 4th Disney TRs that I still intend to do at some point... Maybe when I'm bored during off-season. Your Labor Day weekend CP day didn't sound much better than ours. At least you only had to wait "5 minutes" (but actually 1 hour+) for Millennium. We waited 2 hours, and it's not my favorite ride at the park. Why does Britt like the Beau train so much?

It's a shame you didn't like Giordano's. I've had it a few times in Chicago and loved it every time! I don't remember it being particularly greasy, and I hate greasy food too. If you had meat on yours, I wonder if that could be part of the greasiness? I'm from California, though, so I love pizza but I'm not a huge pizza snob like you New Yorkers are. LOVED the dolphin pictures! They're so cute! Was that a calf I saw? Probably didn't miss much skipping the Hancock tower, I feel like you guys would have been disappointed and unimpressed if you waited that long for it.

Nice to see you on the forums! I'm guessing you've been spending this whole process laughing your butt off to discussion in this thread I'm very excited for your future projects, great job on this one, you may have one of the greatest roller coasters ever in your hands (as if you didn't already...)! Especially last winter! I would love to have had his comments on all that! And I totally concur about SV. As per usual, I try not to speculate too much before I ride a new coaster about how it will feel or how I'll rank it/like it, but I'll definitely be there opening weekend at all costs... waiting with DILinator in whatever insane line this thing generates! -

I don't know if my boyfriend genuinely likes Vortex or just enjoys how much I hate it. He insisted we ride it last time we went as "punishment" for me dipping out of one of the Haunt mazes. I actually did the maze later anyway... -

It would be a weird personal twist of irony if my ex home park and my current home park both got a "first of its kind" ride in the same year. CGA announced Railblazer after SFFT announced its "first of its kind" 2018 addition, so if this is true, Cedar Fair trumps Six Flags again. -

Yes. Play it well? Nope. Did you wear shorts to your workplace this week?
