  1. Same thing, film-wise. Only missing the queue animatronics as I mentioned. I'm sure those are long gone. One can still dream of their return, right?
  2. Looks great! I like that there is an "easier" slide for people who aren't ready to handle the drop. I know a lot of the Busch Gardens campers are going to love this! I'm wondering how the queue for this will be maintained compared to Colossal Curl (sorry if this is obvious, I don't go to many water parks). I remember Colossal Curl's queue frequently extending to the bottom of the stairs when it first opened, which sometimes was a 45 minute or so wait (and that's for a tube slide that fits multiple people). How will they distinguish between the queue for these and Colossal Curl on that stairway?
  3. Its a reverse cobra roll. Don't let the haters get you down. Did everyone make as much noise about "Step under flip"? Step *Up Under Flip and we still make fun of the name to this day whenever we're riding it. Those pictures are amazing, though. I can't wait to ride this over the summer!
  4. Great news from SFDK! I LOVED Dino Island as a kid! I would be so excited to see it again for old time's sake! Only thing they're missing is the giant T-Rex biting the fence over the queue line, and the velociraptors fighting each other in the queue.
  5. Awesome report, thanks for putting it together! I really want to visit this park soon. If I can't make it happen this year, maybe next year. Looks like a great park and Wonder Woman looks great too!
  6. Just got mine! I'm glad I checked this just now because I would have been very sad if I missed it and tickets sold out.
  7. Thought I'd pop in to let you all know that I'm still managing on my New Year's weight loss resolution as well! For me it's not about fitting or not fitting in the coasters. I want to fit into some of my clothing better and feel better about myself. The pictures I took last summer at Disney World made me feel really badly because I noticed visible weight gain. However, I stayed frustrated and depressed about it for the remainder of 2017 without coming up with a solid plan about what to do. I thought a medication change I made around the first of the year would kick-start my metabolism into losing a ton of weight, but nothing really happened and I became more frustrated. Then, I saw this thread where one of you recommended myfitnesspal. I downloaded the app and have kept up with my daily calorie goals almost every day since! (My struggle days include pizza and alcohol nights). I'm so busy/tired that I don't go to the gym as often/ spend as long in the gym as would be ideal, but I have managed to go at least once or twice a week and I've been walking to/from school more often now that the weather has been better. I know it doesn't really count, but my weekend job is very physical so I kinda count that as exercise too. Putting the calorie counts in the app has really helped me realize how high certain foods are. Some foods I thought were relatively healthy actually have a lot of calories, such as the vegetarian pizza I was getting every week. I've finally been losing weight in the last month and I'm feeling more optimistic. I still get really frustrated some days while others aren't so bad. Anyway, I wanted to offer you all a congrats on your weight loss and support that I'm there with you now too!
  8. I have some great pictures and I want to do a comprehensive TR, but I won't be able to get to it for a few days because of work/school responsibilities. Hope it's still "relevant" by that time, I usually try to get these things out shortly after the trip. Here are two teaser photos of Storm Chaser that I posted to Instagram/Twitter.
  9. Yes, it's feasible (assuming you utilize skip the line passes, as you indicated you are). It will be a very rushed day. Expect a 2 hour drive between the two parks (perhaps a bit shorter, but rounding up leaves you some extra wiggle room). CGA will be open from 10-8, while SFDK will be open 10:30-7, except the first Sunday in April, when it will be open until 8. So, starting the day at SFDK, then heading down to CGA afterwards might afford you a bit more time in park. So, looking at a 9.5 hour day, and subtracting 2 hours in-between commute time, you're looking at roughly 3.5-4 hours in each park. They're not huge parks, so you should be able to hit all the rides you want in that time, perhaps with some re-rides in there as well. Good luck with United, and enjoy our humble parks. Agreed, except subtract half an hour in and half an hour out for SFDK, since the parking lot is stupidly far and Six Flags takes forever to get people through security/front gate. Also, Britt will probably want to see the animals and you totally should! Skip the Vekomas at SFDK in favor of seeing the dolphin show, butterflies, and a lap around the park to look at the other animals. Also, if there aren't a lot of kids near the splash zone at Drench! that day, see if she can volunteer to be in the show. I've done it, it's legit (Unless she doesn't want to get soaked, in which case don't).
  10. I seriously thought you were talking about IKEA at first... Plot twist: the coaster is actually manufactured by IKEA. Six Flags will begin assembling it in-house soon and probably won't finish until Spring of next year.
  11. I remember last time being really confused about which gate was which and where we were supposed to go. Some of the employees didn't even know. I'm really awful with directions but I'll be going with my boyfriend who is good with directions so hopefully he'll remember where to go in. I'm not a big fan of rain but I'll still be there! Last year we got to walk around under SC and take pictures. I'm sure that would be really muddy this year if we still do it! My profile picture on every social media for the last year
  12. ^That's great news! Saved electric expenses, shading for parking, security cameras, electric vehicle plugs, supporting their pledges for sustainability and taking care of the environment. All a win! Wondering how the construction is going to fare at a year-round park like ours. I bet the parking is going to be a nightmare until it's done. Also, part of me wondered what would happen if they decided to scrap that lot in favor of a parking structure and build a waterpark there or something. I guess this means we won't be seeing that happen. I wonder if this will cost so much up front for the park that we don't see any exciting new rides added for a while, but then once the savings start coming in, we see a lot of park improvements? Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
  13. WOW! Great job! I'm sure it put in a lot of time to do this, so I thank you! I like looking at statistics and useless facts/numerical break-downs. I wonder if you could do one about coasters added by chain by year? To see how Six Flags vs. Cedar Fair vs. some of the Chinese/foreign chains fare. Or even defunct rates by location? Lots of interesting ways this could go!
  14. ^Thank you for posting that! This ride is one of the most intriguing defunct KI rides to me, mostly since I've been through the queue and building for Haunt/long Mystic Timbers line and as mentioned, a lot of the theming still exists, although most of it makes no sense with the Haunt maze they now have. Tomb Raider looked to be an amazing and unique ride, and I wish I could have experienced it back in the day. I hope someday they can use that building again for a dark ride or indoor coaster of some sort.
  15. With seasonal parks, you have to plan around THE ENTIRE PARK BEING CLOSED. I'm not understanding how you think that having one or two rides closed is worse than not being able to go at all. Also, I like that there might be a new restaurant opening. They could use another indoor dining venue + something besides just snacks especially if they want to sell more Dining Passes. There are already plenty of snack bars around the park. Only bummer is I usually went to that one (if it's the one I'm thinking of) for free water and occasionally margaritas in between Joker riding. Now I'll have to walk like 200 feet further to the one by the Penguins, ooh boy (unless the restaurant can take care of those needs, + beer, then it's win-win).
  16. I may be getting Coastermania ERT mixed up with passholder ERT because both times we marathoned Maverick, but I don't remember the lines being long. I'm definitely sure I drank quite a bit of beer at Coastermania and didn't eat very much (don't eat BBQ), so I was feeling a bit uncomfortable after 6 or 7 rides on Mav. during ERT. Since we're not talking about Coastermania specifically, I can attest that at several passholder ERT sessions, we got plenty of rides in. It wasn't to the point where you could just sit and stay on the ride, but the longer ERT went on, the thinner it got. The last 15-20 min you pretty much don't have to wait at all (in general people are p*ssies and don't have stamina like we do ) we rode Maverick before the Coastermania! evening ERT started. . while CM folks were lining up in the ERT line (outside the Fastlane entrance) while inside the queue, it was only 15 minutes or so. (that, I think, was the only time we actually got in line and rode it without having to wait for a breakdown to be fixed. . LOL. .. but we got a lot of rides on it over that weekend). we must have seen each other at the park.. it's a shame we didn't get to say "hi" I know! I feel like I didn't "mingle" very much at Coastermania last year. Maybe this year. Are you guys going again?

  18. Yes, once. Do you frequently use Instagram?
  19. Waited till (nearly) the last minute, but we are confirmed for the event as well! Will definitely be taking plenty of photos. I'm also not sure if I had a smart-phone the last time this event happened (I got mine exactly a year ago), but I do now and can hopefully do some live tweeting and IG posting!
  20. Yes? "At the edge of" could refer to the literal edge of something (like the sea cliff I spent some time on in December) or the edge of a life event (graduating undergrad, for example, changing grad programs, moving) to which I have also felt discomfort. Especially birthdays, and especially the night before my birthday. I contemplate my aging and ruminate on the fact that I will never again be the age I am, and what the means and feels like. Yes, makes for a somber birthday-eve. Did you read a book this month? For leisure.
  21. Same here! It threw me off before I remembered it’s just one seat across. Also, the restraint is in the “up” position, which takes some mental gymnastics to visualize what they’ll look like when they’re down. The line for the front row is going to be so long on this!
  22. Wow, I'm surprised! I've never been to Vancouver (or any of Canada) but I always thought it just got colder and colder the more northern you go. It got to -9* here in southern Ohio, maybe colder. ^Not yet! But I plan to. Have you bought yourself new clothes this year?
  23. My boyfriend is a St. Louis native and absolutely adores Boss. He likes RMC coasters too but would not be happy if they did that to Boss. I rode it with him last year for my first time and actually thought it was fine, except for that helix. I don't know if I'd say "never gonna happen" because who knows years from now, but I do agree that I don't see it happening in the near future. Could be wrong. I do think Boss would make a great RMC, if they really invested the money in it. Otherwise, it would almost be a waste.
  24. Yes. Have you experienced weather colder than -10* F?
