Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
King of Ka replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's great that these trains are getting on a coaster, and hopefully they'll work as intended, I don't doubt the Gravity Group will do exactly what they've said. I definitely think this will make some of their rides more pleasurable, but at the same time I'm a little disappointed in how divided the seats look, I've always liked Millennium Flyers and their small seat dividers, they just seem to add to the "classic" wooden coaster feel. At any rate, I look forward to hearing how they compare! -
Glee is alright to me. There's nothing spectacular about it, but it's funny and the songs definitely add something new to it. It's a good mix, but just not a show I look forward to every week.

Knoebels Discussion Thread
King of Ka replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Personally, I think the people at the park are tired of constantly having people ask them, "When is Flying Turns going to be done???" and have already said multiple times that "the ride will be done when it's done." I don't think there's much else they could tell you beyond what they've posted on the site. That said, I'm definitely hoping for a positive update at PPP! -
I noticed someone very familiar in an article I was linked to by Cracked.com about "25 More Highly Questionable T-Shirts". Scroll down to the 6th picture to see what I mean: http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=44107 . I was surprised to see him, sorta shows how once something's on the internet you never know where it'll end up, although I guess he fits the article.

Hmmm. Personally, I've never been too interested in bizarre Japanese coasters, but I'm starting to see the worth in the idea. It would be a shame to have the POVs be "wasted", and it definitely does appeal to enough people to not be totally useless. I might not personally buy it, but I do think there will be enough people who will to make it worth the while. As others have said, I'd be more interested in DVDs that covered Europe, those parks are just more my style. At the same time, I think it almost makes the most sense to have the RAW DVDs have a theme not related to area (like the defunct coasters), as these seem more likely to appeal to a broad audience. Perhaps a DVD chronicling the world's best "bizarre" coasters, which could have a lot of the Japan footage, but also other places interspersed? One last thing: with the RAW videos, have you ever considered "outsourcing" the editing work to trusted TPR members to lighten your work load? I would think that given a set of guidelines most people could edit together the raw footage, and it might (or might not, I don't know) make it easier for you guys to make these DVDs without having to spend all your time on them. Definitely hope this helps!

This is what I find very exciting. I love live chats, and so an official TPR live chat is completely awesome to me. I definitely hope everything goes smoothly, and we get to enjoy more of these in the future! I don't think I'll get on any TPR trips for a few years, but I'll be listening in tonight, just for fun.

But where are CDs kept? In the glove box? (which is where some older cars have their changer catrtige at!) In the back seat? On the visor? Getting the CDs would get the distraction Yes, but if you put three CDs in the changer before you start driving, you can switch to a new one when the first ends without having to look for a CD or put in a new one. True, but you have to take it into consideration that a conversation that could be had in one call takes multiple texts.

^ It's always a better day for Cake. EDIT: Also, that pie is awesome looking. I must try to make that.

I have to disagree with you here; to me, Cedar Point is somewhat overrated. Not because it's not a good or even amazing park, but simply because the hype it is given is really just unbelievable. Any show, newspaper article, Golden Ticket Award, or anything else that mentions CP never gives anything less than a stunning, best-park-in-the-world review, and I, with others, don't think it's deserving of such praise. In fact, I think that many people who "bash" CP don't actually dislike the park, but merely dislike what they perceive to be a media and public infatuation, along with an army of unreasonable fanboys who simply can't imagine CP not being the best. EDIT: ^I've been on three S&S towers, a basic double shot, Dominator@Dorney, and Power Tower. Power Tower was the weakest to me, and Dominator the strongest.

^Continuing on the "Robb's favorites" topic, how do the GG woodies rank in your top ten wooden coasters? Anyway, Fireball really does look like a great ride, many of the drops seem much steeper and larger than I would guess. Any ride that is the highlight of a park with a dive machine and megalite MUST be good!

What makes a rough coaster?
King of Ka replied to spacemtfan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^ I'm obviously no engineer, but I think it might have something to do with the fact that when the back of the train goes over any given section of track right after the front. So: Track is still>front of train rides over track, causing vibrations and movement>back of train rides over track, and so feels much rougher. Once again, merely a guess, but it makes some sense to me. -

I hope it's a coaster just to spite you. -
Smoking: Park policies: Your opinion.
King of Ka replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Random, Random, Random
I disagree; I think for many people fast food is toted as an easy, fast meal; not as a once-a-month unhealthy treat. I simply think that both companies could be said to exploit the addictions of their consumers to their products equally. -
Going to Knoebels...
King of Ka replied to rockbook2000's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love Knoebels, and I bet you will too. Make sure you give yourself enough time to really enjoy the park, and go looking for new things to do, you're bound to find some hidden gems. Don't miss the flyers, bumper cars, or carousel, they're better than most of their generic counterparts. -
El Toro Back or Front?
King of Ka replied to cooliocody12's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've always thought the front was much better- to me, the air on the first two hills (and the first drop is about the same to me as in the back) is much better than the back. The only part where the back is better to me is the Rolling Thunder hill. Definitely front for me. -
Smoking: Park policies: Your opinion.
King of Ka replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Random, Random, Random
The question should be more like, "Would you rather walk past a group of people smoking, or walk (or stand, or sit) near 1 person smoking for an extended period of time?" I think the idea behind smoking areas is that they let people get away from the smoke, which they can't do when the smokers are in lines and such. Anyway, best of luck kicking the habit! -

King of Ka replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I really hope so; going there this weekend, could really use some new credits this summer. Momentarily going off Kozmo's Kurves: as somebody who gets motion sick easily (really just on spinning flats though), what flat rides at Knoebels are worth a little sickness to ride? I don't want to miss any great rides (I'll probably be trying the Flyers at the very least), but I definitely don't want to feel nauseous the whole day. -
"Lazer" becomes the first IKEA coaster

Looks amazing, makes me miss it even more. I need to get on some more Schwarzkopfs before they all disappear.
