  1. This looks so awesome. Fury 325 is yet another amazing take your breath away, never ending drop. I figured Laura would find, and look happiest, on a carousel
  2. Oh this deserves its own post but a huge congratulations to my home park for having the last place coaster lol! Congrats Time Warp!
  3. Awesome! Looks realistic, fair and balanced. So awesome seeing El Toro up there. After riding Lightning Rod and El Toro in the same season, it is still insane and deserves its top spot. Robb, Chase and AJ, thanks for all the insanely hard work and hours put into this! I didn’t have a chance to get my ballot done this year aside from testing help but it is a priority next year. Let’s get this passed along and get those participation numbers up super high for next year. I’m sure parks and manufacturers will embrace this in their marketing. Looking forward to seeing how the pole evolves and how the results are presented. (Regional results, manufacturer results, etc)
  4. This is such an awesome off-season re-charge. I'm still so fascinated with Intamin's booth and whatever Sandor has cookin'. Nothing will change. haha On the wooden coaster side, M&V + GG = Awesome. The sesame street coaster train is something. Fresh mini donuts are the best. Tiny Tom Donuts finally made it into Wonderland after decades of being a fair staple. Watching those machines as a kid was like oily, sugary magic haha
  5. I'm mixed about this. Unlike Mean Streak, White Cyclone is an icon and really is an awesome journey throughout its unique structure. I rode that more than Steel Dragon on our TPR trip. I get that huge mega wooden coasters were a trendy thing at one point, probably way too costly to maintain compared to just sticking steel railings on them, but losing a decent wooden coaster kinda sucks. I think RMC should do some stand alone steel coasters instead (Raptor track or ibox). I totally get Mean Streak and Hurler changes, though .
  6. I am fully engaged when using Facebook. Twitter I use for quick info updates or scimming info and news sources, rarely using any "social features".
  7. I have the biggest smile right now, reading through this thread. Glad everyone is having an awesome trip! Kings Island has always thoroughly been such a great time each visit. I've only ever been post Son of Beast, though lol. Can't wait to try Mystic Timbers one day. That and park myself in that 80s store. We can really use more Speak & Spells
  8. Just wow. I mean, if they made the last Dinn-Summers woodie into something as amazing as New Texas Giant, I can only imagine how this will turn out with all the experience RMC has now. The frontier area of the park is my favorite, even more so now. Great pics! Some of those elements are looking absolutely insane in the best way possible.
  9. It's so much fun following along with this awesome trip. I've never seen Europe like this. That cabbage for sure got what was coming to it. In the words of Newman, "vile weed"!
  10. How amazing is this. Big things do come in compact packages. A new GG coaster always gets rid of any jaded feelings about this hobby. I can't wait to get back to Orlando. Fun Spot is really making Orlando a destination with great variety for adventure/ thrill seekers, as a nice complement to Disney World and Universal Simulators Orlando.
  11. Switch them back. If not Dollywood is less then 4 hours from kings island Ohio. I wouldn't switch anything back until it gets at least a week of consistent full day operations .
  12. Our wooden coasters are far from the worst. Average and not overly memorable, sure I suppose, but definitely not horrible. We may get newer style wooden coasters (GCI, Intamin or GG) or an RMC topper track steel hybrid/ iron horse steel hybrid for a newer experience, but having fun classic wooden coasters in the mix, in addition to new rides, will only make things way more fun.
  13. The only other ride of its type that I am aware of is Derby Racers at Rye Playland, which I'm pretty sure still runs at full speed. I was able to ride it last year, and I must say, it is insane! I could not believe something like that was allowed to operate in this day and age. If my memory serves me right, there were no seat belts and I felt like I was going to fly off at any moment. It got to the point where it was hard for me to hold on. Even crazier, someone on the ride was breaking the rules or something and instead of a ride operator telling the person over a speaker, another ride operator just jumped onto the ride while it was in full motion! You could tell it was something he practiced. It was very impressive. *Edit* According to Wikipedia, there are actually 3 in existence. The two listed above and one at Blackpool pleasure beach. The one at Rye Playland is insane! The operator was constantly yelling at us on where to hold on and have each foot placed on the rungs, I'm guessing so that we didn't fly off. lol
  14. This park was a lot of fun. Super friendly and a place where you can have a leisurely day. Even being stuck on the inverter that overshot the platform for 15 minutes with legs crushing under the restraint was ok while talking to the nice older gentleman running the ride lol. Love the classic ride collection the park has. Nice pics and review.
  15. Not sure if this was posted yet, but Chance has the Unicoaster 2.0 animation out. Screamscape had an update today. The flat ride on a full closed circuit track, looks pretty cool. Of course I'm sure that wheel will be covered up to avoid losing an arm or hand here or there. https://youtu.be/nMhY-JbKsaU https://youtu.be/nMhY-JbKsaU
  16. Vortex at Canada's Wonderland. Still fast, really intense and short enough to get the day going.
  17. The park looks absolutely incredible. That's a shame about the Tapu Tapu, but really, they should have contingencies in place for when it isn't working properly. A good communications plan and contingency operations, like a "standby only" day for the busiest of days, could be a solution. I look at Tapu Tapu as part of the attractions, that may or may not work, like any other aspect of a park. Congratulations Universal Orlando Resort for creating something really unique and breathtaking.
  18. The one at La Ronde is a lot of fun. No rougher than any older coaster. I think they're getting rid of it this year, though.
  19. Lifts. Chain, cable, tires, LIM, LSM, whatevs. They all lead to awesome first drops for the most part.
  20. Dragon Mountain at Marineland at 8 years old with a YMCA Day Camp. I only went when my camp counsellor, Heather, the most beautiful blond girl I had ever seen at that point in life, said she'd ride with me if I went. Of course she wanted to ride instead if waiting with me, the only one who didn't want to go lol
  21. For me it's a tie between Tennessee Tornado and X/X2. Great rides.
  22. Some were planned, some were just lucky to be there. Overseas: Tornado (Bakken) Insane Fluch von Novgorod Flug der Damonen Sky Scream Fuga da Atlantide Oziris Shambhala Tranan Takabisha USA Wicked Twister Maverick Skyrush Fahrenheit Lightning Rod Lightning Run Intimidator 305 Banshee Flying Turns Phobia Fear Coaster Dark Knight Wicked Cyclone New Texas Giant Ravine Flyer II Cheetah Hunt Tempesto Untamed Fury 325 GateKeeper Valraven
  23. Cool, something fun on coffee break lol I guess I remember all this stuff, being obsessed with my home park since I was a kid and old enough to like rides in the late 80. The list includes removed rides. Come on up and visit the park if you haven't been. The top three in the list are definitely worth a visit. Canada's Wonderland Vortex, Arrow Suspended Coaster Behemoth, B&M Mega Coaster, 200 ft plus Leviathan, B&M Mega Coaster, 300 ft plus SkyRider, Togo Stand Up (Removed) Wild Beast/ Wilde Beast, Kings Entertainment Co (Taft Broadcasting) Curtis Summers wooden coaster, modelled after Wild Cat at Coney Island, Cincinnati Mighty Canadian Mine Buster, Kings Entertainment Co (Taft Broadcasting) Curtis Summers wooden coaster, modelled after Shooting Star at Coney Island, Cincinnati Back Lot Stunt Coaster/ Italian Job, Premier Custom Launched Coaster Dragon Fire/ Dragon Fyre, Arrow-Huss Custom Looping Coaster The Bat, Vekoma Boomerang Ghoster Coaster, Kings Entertainment Co (Taft Broadcasting) Curtis Summers junior wooden coaster Flight Deck/ Top Gun, Vekoma SLC The Fly, Mack Standard Wild Mouse Wonder Mountain's Guardian, Triotech/ Art Engineering 4D Interactive Ride Silver Streak, Vekoma Junior SLC Time Warp/ Tomb Raider, Zamperla Volare Taxi Jam, E&F Miler Kiddie Coaster Not really coasters/ credits to me: Thunder Run (with optional VR)/ Blauer Enzian, Mack Blauer Enzian Coaster (Powered) Bayern's Curve, Schwarzkopf Bayern Kurve (Powered, Removed) Zumba Flume, Kings Entertainment Co (Taft Broadcasting) double drop log flume (Removed)
  24. To be fair, many of the properties at USO/ IOA, seem like they have a bigger following than anyone would expect, even if they really do or don't. I'm sure they're picked for both longevity and more recent nostalgia above pure popularity and fads. This attraction seems like it promotes The Tonight Show, first and foremost, NBC's biggest brand. Fallon just happens to be the latest host and is featured, even though Leno sounds like a better fit for a racing theme. I think I'm more into it for the the New York and Tonight Show tie in. This attraction sounds like a classic USO attraction in that in addition to the main show/ ride, it adds in some history about both a great city and an iconic production.
  25. I doubt this is anything to be concerned about. The owners are probably a few steps ahead and I bet planned for this as a worse case scenario. Like every other challenge of many that they faced to date, this is just another obstacle. They would bever have built the ride if they had any thought that it would be shut down at any point of this process.
