  1. Sorry, your not going to find anything fun to do in Indiana (besides Holiday World, and Indiana Beach). Indiana sucks...
  2. ---------------- September 1978- We are very close to ending our third season and many guests are wandering what we will be getting for 1979. I can't say too much, but I will say that it will be another family attraction, but not as expensive as 1978's additions! Lastly, Barnstormer closed early for winter rehab. Sadly Barnstormer has suffered significant downtime the past year, but it will be returning for 1979! Mooresville & American Adventures Railroad has became even more popular because guests are wanting to see what is going on behind our kid's area. It does look like something is infact going on back there... Hmmm, I guess you will just have to wait til' Halloween to findout!
  3. Are you serious? You have to be joking. You'd be amazed how much you can ride things when the park is dead At Knoebel's opening day in 2004 I rode Twister 47 times, Phoenix somewhere around 20, and got a few rides in on the Skooters and Flyers. Yeah Holiday World was DEAD. On Saturday I rode Voyage more than anyone in our group, but not by much. A few of the people in our group went to the park again on Sunday and I think Kat ended up with close to 50 rides on Voyage.
  4. Are you serious? You have to be joking. Yeah, whats so crazy about it?
  5. Sorry for the huge delay, since Photobucket was being messed up I didn't feel like dealing with the stress. And than I went to Kings Island (not even going to do a PTR), than Holiday World (which the PTR is already up). I felt stressed like I have to post these. I really do want to post them but it takes so long to upload all the photos, I wish I could just write the trip report here and just post a link to my facebook albums with all of the photos. ------------------ Anyways, I left off at Carowinds and we just rode Hurler. After Hurler, I believe Me, Tom, and Angie went towards Afterburn and met up with the rest of the group. Afterburn had a half full queue which was only about 10 minutes but I wanted the front seat so it was another 10 minutes. Afterburn was my 100th. coaster! Looking back I wish I would of made it a wooden coaster, but I guess I can make my 200th. coaster a woodie. Afterburn was a great coaster, but out of the B&M inverts I still like Montu best. Afterburn is better than Raptor and the Batman clones though. After Afterburn all of us walked down the hill to Thunder Road. We rode South Carolina first in the front. It was great, better than Racer and Rebel Yell! Than we just switched over to North Carolina and rode towards the back which wasn't nearly as good. As we were walking towards Planet Snoopy I saw Kings Island's Vortex on a Carolina Cobra bottle! First of all, the Planet Snoopy at Carowinds looked really nice! Obviously I never got to see it as Nickelodeon, but Snoopy actually looked nice here (although I still think Snoopy is dumb). All of us wanted to go straight to Woodstock Gliders and just stay on for a while, but due to long lines we couldn't. We only got to ride once. But atleast on my one ride I was snapping like crazy! I still can't believe I can actually snap! Tom was also making the ride go crazy with his snapping! As you can tell from all of those photos, Carowinds is a very pretty park. All of those were actually taken in Planet Snoopy, well except the last one. Angie, Tom, and I went to Woodstock Express, while everyone else went somewhere else. On our way I noticed POV the ride! Also, their Woodstock Express is the same as the one at KI (and KD, but we didn't get to ride theirs) but theirs runs sooo much better. It was really fast, and it flew through the whole layout making for one extreme kiddie coaster! That and the kiddie coaster at SFOG are my two favorites! I hate Reptars... but being a credit whore I rode it anyways. It sucked as much as the one at KI. Enough said. After Reptard the three of us made our way to Nighthawk. We wanted the credit really bad. It had a full queue and started off running one train but later went up to two. Firehawk > Nighthawk. I didn't know a flying coaster could actually be rough, but yes Nighthawk is! And actually, the smoothest part of the ride is actually the corkscrews! I loved the drinking fountain in the queue, great idea! So after we got our credit, we needed two more. The park was about an hour away from closing (Why do they close at 8 again?) We still needed Carolina Cobra and Ricochet. We agreed we would try to get Carolina Cobra first since none of us have ridden a true boomerang (Invetigo & Deja Vu don't count!) The line was very small thankfully, and we only had to wait for the train to pull into the station! Carolina Cobra was smooth, but very intense. After we got off, all of us felt dizzy. We just needed one more credit, but Ricochet had a long line. We saw Adam, and the rest of the group by Carolina Goldrusher so we met back up with them. I ended up riding Goldrusher one more time, than we all went to Intimidator. We got to Intimidator at about 7:50PM. and we entered the queue. We went to the vending machines and just stood over there and let anyone who entered the queue infront of us. We wanted to be on the last train of the night (but didn't scream at the ride opts. like someone on TPR said). So we ended up getting the very last train of the night (me and Adam got front seat too!) It was the perfect way to end the night at a great park. I really like Carowinds but I feel like I didn't get to appreciate the park because of the crowds. Next time I go, I'd love to go on an empty day so I can enjoy it more than rushing around to get credits! Thanks for reading, I'll try to get Six Flags Over Georgia posted sometime this week!
  6. Opening day PTR: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=55116
  7. In 2001 I went to Holiday World and did ride Legend (with the Gerstlauer train) and Raven but don't remember them too well. So after 9 years, I finally made it back to Holiday World! Everything I have heard about the park in general and Voyage are true. The employees are really friendly and love their job! The park is really clean, in fact I didn't even see an ash in the smoking area! Voyage IS the best coaster I have ridden (ridden 110). It has everything I love in a coaster (just like I305) only it's wooden making it a little bit better. Anyways, Mitchell and I woke up around 4AM. and left my house near 4:30AM. By 5:10AM. we pulled into Edinburgh Premium Outlet and met up with Jared (rotag). Mitchell parked his car and we got into Jared's and than we were off to Holiday World! The drive there really isn't too bad, just take 65 South until 64 West, than you just get off on some state road until you see Pilgrim's Plunge and Voyage! The whole way down it was raining, and when we arrived at the park like two hours before it opened it was still raining. Since we needed to kill some time, we stopped at the gas station next to Holiday World. We hung out there for maybe twenty minutes before an employee kicked us out for not buying anything. We decided to drive to Wendy's near 64 and that state road. At Wendy's we got really hyper and were doing the most random things ever! After our crazy hyperness, we saw Adam, Gary, Shawn, and Kim pull up. They stayed at Wendy's for maybe 10 minutes than we all left. While we were in there we saw other coaster enthusiasts wearing Kings Island shirts, weird thing is none of us knew them! So we drove back to Holiday World where the gates had just opened and we parked right next to the entrance! Raven was testing as we walked up to the entrance of the park! The lady who was giving me my ticket was so nice, she said since I was the first person to get a ticket in 2010 I get it for free, but she was just kidding. She also told me that Voyage was running great and to be sure to re-ride it many times (and we did!) Mitchell, Jared, and I walked to Raven first since it's right next to the entrance. We got the second train of the season and I sat in the back. It was great to ride Raven again, I loved it. We ended up staying on for one more ride before walking to Legend. Legend had maybe 2 people in the station besides employees. I rode in the front this time and the ride was pretty good. We rode again only in the back, and wow! Legend easily made it to my #2 woodie (before I rode Voyage.) We wanted to ride Voyage but on the way we ended up riding Paul Reverie's Midnight Ride. It was an alright ride, I'm surprised it didn't make me dizzy! We talked to Darlene while her friend was on Midnight Ride. I grabbed a Pepsi at one of the Pepsi Oasis's and than we made our way to Voyage! Well actually on the way there we got kinda lost and ended up by Eagle's Flight. As soon as I saw Voyage I started freaking out, I could not believe I'm finally getting to ride the best wooden coaster on the planet. We all ran to it and walked right up to the station with no wait. My first ride was in row 2 I believe. The first part of the ride (the trip out) was fun but I was expecting much better. The crazy turnaround was fun, but still wasn't what I thought it'd be. The way back though was amazing. After my first ride I said "This is a great ride, but extremely over rated and I like Cornball Express better." Than since the station was empty I rode in the second to back. THIS is where the best ride is! Once we got to the top of the lift, I got whipped over and experienced some crazy airtime! The next two hills were fun but offered very little airtime. The next small hill was fun but I got covered in 'Voyage splooge.' The turnaround was much more intense in the back, but one part of the turnaround I think is the only bad part of the ride because it's taken too fast and is kinda rough. Once we got to the midcourse I was expecting to slow down, NOPE we flew right through it! The first dip in the triple down offered good airtime, the second dip had some really good airtime, and the third and final dip was INSANE! Probably one of the best moments of airtime ever! I got more Voyage splooge on me in this tunnel. The next little hill also has some great ejector air! Now the spaghetti bowl section began, and when you weren't experiencing airtime you were being tossed around and thrown everywhere providing great laterals and one insane ride! I loved the S-turn like on I305, over the transfer track area. After the tunnel we did a similar element only going to opposite direction. The final turns after the last tunnel are boring compared to the rest of the ride. So after my second to back seat I declared Voyage is my new #1 coaster wood or steel and stayed on in that seat! ^I saw this on the tunnel's roof. WTF is it!? ^Timberliner! I rode a few more times in that seat until the group wanted to go get funnel cakes. The funnel cake place wasn't open yet so we waited at the Alamo. Mitchell & I wanted to ride Liberty Launch but it was down, so we went to Holidog's Funtown for our Howler credit. The ride opt. was really nice and when we walked into the station he said "need your kiddie credit?" We ended up going through the layout twice. After Mitchell's 91st. coaster and my 110th., we explored the slides. The were the slowest slides ever, but it was still fun! We kinda forgot about everyone else so we got to the funnel cake place as they were almost done. Mitchell decided to get a funnel cake, and I got fried Oreo's. ZOMG sooo yummy! I let everyone try one, and most people loved them too. For now on it'll be a Holiday World tradition to get those! So after our delicious food we went to Rough Riders. Kat was telling us about the ones at Knoebels and how good they were. I told everyone about the ones at Indiana Beach. After our KIC takeover on them we walked to Liberty Launch for another take over. I love Liberty Launch, it's in my top 10 flat rides! I'm pretty sure we went to Raven and rode it two or three times, than went to Legend and rode it many times and they were ringing the bell. After that it was time to go back to Voyage. We rode about 5 times without getting off until for some reason we decided to take a break. All of us went to Gobble Getaway and we walked right onto it. I scored a 350 which is pathetic! It looked like it was going to rain so we went to Pilgrim's Plunge. I love how at HW they let you take off your shoes and stuff. I ended up taking off my shirt too, and I froze to death. As we left the station it started to rain... I ended up getting pretty wet on the ride and decided not to ride again until I'm wearing swim trunks and it's hot outside. Since we (Me, Mitchell, Shawn, Adam, Jared, and I think Kim) were already wet, we decided to ride Voyage during the downpour. As fun as it was, I couldn't keep my eyes open because of the rain. I think we rode 3 times in the rain. Me, Jared, and Mitchell left the group and went to Legend. We rode twice, than went to Raven and rode two more times. We stopped at Legend again where we saw Kat and Nick. We all rode together (me and Adam rode in second to back, Nick and Kat rode in the back, and Mitchell and Jared rode in the front) probably 6 times. It was amazing, I love Legend and can't get enough of it! Legend is 10 years old and they still ring the bell, it still has the howling, still has the theme, and still rides insane! Thank you so much Holiday World for keeping this amazing coaster at it's best for all of these years! Nick and Kat went to get a jacket I think. All the rest of us went back to Voyage. We rode a few times than met back up with Angie, Tom, Shawn, Kim, Gary, and some other people too I think. We went to Fourth of July and rode Eagle's Flight. I actually get them to snap a tiny bit! I think Tom and Mitchell did also! Jared, Gary, and Shawn rode Revolution while the rest of us just relaxed and enjoyed the park. After they got off we went to Raven with Angie and Tom. We rode once than went to Legend where we rode twice. After what ended up being our last Legend & Raven rides, we went back to Voyage since the park was going to close in about thirty minutes. We just rerode for the rest of the evening and I rode in the second to back every single time except once in the very front! ^Wildebeest My total ride count was... Voyage: 29 Legend: 14 Raven: 10 Eagle's Flight: 2 Liberty Launch: 2 Howler: 1 Holidog's Slides: 1 Midnight Ride: 1 Gobble Getaway: 1 Pilgrim's Plunge: 1 62 rides in one day, pretty good I must say! (That rhymes!)
  8. Is there anyway to make your signature appear every time you post without having to click the 'show signature' thing every time?
  9. Voyage! On Saturday, rode it 29 times! Also, the next coaster I will ride will probably be Cornball Express this weekend.
  10. Your girlfriend took some great photos! I really miss Kings Dominion, I need to go back sometime this year!
  11. Great photos! You said those were the best parks in Pennsylvania? What about Knoebels and Waldameer? Those both look great too.
  12. Great job Six Flags! Didn't Shapiro say that in 2011 or 2012 all of the parks will receive major additions?
  13. I'm surprised on how good it ended up! I can't believe Cedar Fair did all of that! I still don't know if I'm going to Holiwood Nights or Coaster Mania, but whenever I decide to drive up to CP this year, I will for sure ride StR!
  14. I still think Holiday World does need a thrilling steel coaster. I don't see why Holiday World doesn't want to get one, they built Pilgrim's Plunge which is huge and steel. And the steel coaster doesn't even need to be big, I actually think a launched low to the ground Intamin would be the best steel coaster for the park.
  15. Wow, Planet Snoopy actually looks good at CW! I like the one at Cedar Point and Carowinds, but I hate it at KD and KI! It's also nice that CW received completely new rides for Planet Snoopy also, more for the kids to ride!
  16. I was at Holiday World yesterday along with all the other KICers (my first time in 9 years)! I LOVE HW, I'll probably get a season pass since I only live 3 hours away. Oh, and yes yesterday was empty. Rode Voyage 29 times, Legend 14 times, Raven 10 times, plus rode Eagles Flight 2 times, Liberty Launch 2 times, Howler and the kids area once, Pilgrims Plunge once, and Gobble Getaway once.
  17. It may have just been when I was at Carowinds, but Intimidator was running great. It has very nice airtime for a B&M, actually had a little bit of laterals, and was running very fast! On Diamondback, the MCBR kills the rest of the ride completely. On Intimidator the MCBR slows the ride to a near stop, but you still get airtime coming out of the drop if your in the back, and the helix has laterals. I actually thought Intimidator was the best B&M Hyper I've ridden! I've only ridden Goliath, Raging Bull, Diamondback, and Intimidator though.
  18. Thanks for all of those replies! I would of never thought people on Theme Park Review would of liked a Giga in RCT3 like this so much! ---------------- I have a small update. I only worked on it for a few minutes today so not much got done, but it was worth posting! Here is the massive lift/drop, and the first turn which now has supports. The second hill will be the next to get supports. You can also see the red roof which is the building where the cable machinery stuff is at. I couldn't make the supports too accurate because Steel Jungle can't bend the way I wanted it to. This gives a pretty good look at the lift support brace thing. Here is one last photo from under the lift near the area where the cable runs looking up at the lift. You can also see some of the cable near the top of the lift. I probably won't be able to update tomorrow, and on Saturday I'm hopefully going to Holiday World. So maybe Monday?
  19. A few weeks ago I made my way down to Virginia and rode I305. As you can see in my signature, it's my #1 coaster. Being an active RCT3 player I had to make something similar. So here it is! And also, expect many more coasters from me. I'll still be working on American Adventures, but I will make coasters at the same time! (Is it just me, or does it look like the photo is low quality after I uploaded it?) I'll be posting more updates showing the rest of the ride being built. I don't expect it to be fully done until maybe mid May. Also, my next track should be up in a few weeks.
  20. I wander if it will be like Kings Dominion's and hold 50 people, or be some other type. I've always though both Busch Gardens parks were lacking thrill rides (not coasters), but this drop tower will be a great addition for BGW.
  21. What's the problem with that? Guessing you don't like Kings Island? I don't care for the park, but I wouldn't want to see it burn.
  22. I thought you meant Washington, the state! If that was the case, it'd be much easier and cheaper to just fly. But from DC, it's probably a pretty short drive.
  23. Are you guys actually serious about burning it down? Son of Beast is HUGE, it would take atleast a few weeks for it to burn down. Plus it's pretty close to Top Gun and Adventure Express. Top Gun probably wouldn't have too much damage, but Adventure Express would most likely not be able to operate because it has wooden supports, and they would be burnt too. And what about wind, the fire could spread across the whole park... If you guys are being serious, you need to think of the consequences of burning down a 218' tall woodie. If your just joking, it's getting very old.
