New Thrill Ride For 2006
verticalzero replied to Patty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
WOW thatwas a quick build, Project Stealth has taken no time at all and it may be open in Feb... I hope there are not many problems like TTD and KK had. -
That 1st drop looks lovely, I bet the Q for the front and back seats will be quite long. The design/layout is one of the best yet, nice sweeping banked curves and the banked dropping return towards the lifthill is wonderfull. You guys who live near the park are so lucky to have a "woodie" like this. Season ticket comin up

Found this regarding SFNO: The link below: http://www.marketwatch.com/news/yhoo/story.asp?source=blq/yhoo&siteid=yhoo&dist=yhoo&guid=%7BA0EABF82%2DBA9F%2D45D7%2D925A%2D5E46FDDA77C5%7D Or: Submerged Six Flags park in limbo A corporate tussle, 75-year lease and a heavily damaged array of rides and attractions all are coming into play at one tourist attraction devastated by Hurricane Katrina: Six Flags New Orleans. The park's 35 rides sat in as much as 12 feet of water after the levees broke in New Orleans, creating some of the more spectacular floodwater pictures with its tall roller-coasters jutting out from the deluge. Water around the theme park, located about 12 miles northeast of central New Orleans, had yet to be fully drained as of last week, said Debbie Nauser, Six Flags (PKS: news, chart, profile) spokeswoman. "We don't know the state of the park and likely won't know for some time," Nauser said. Nauser said the company has a 75-year lease with the city of New Orleans. Six Flags acquired the park, formerly known as Jazzland, in 2002 out of bankruptcy. Six Flags leases the park from the city's Industrial Development Board, free of property taxes, but in return the park is required to rebuild in the event of damage. Six Flags plans to rebuild the park, Nauser said. But it hasn't been one of the company's strongest performers. One knock against it is that the park is too far from New Orleans' primary attractions, such as the French Quarter and Canal Street. Another is that it is open only for a limited time - spring to fall - and it serves primarily the local market. "The market size is such that we never expected the park to be a very large contributor relative to some of our other major market parks," Nauser said. "But at our cost basis it can be an attractive return for us, depending on what the future holds for the city and its population base as a whole." See related story on the state of New Orleans' tourism industry. Meanwhile, Six Flags is under the gun from shareholder Daniel Snyder. Citing the company's huge debt load and sagging stock price, Snyder made an unsolicited bid for the company last month. Saddled with $2.3 billion in debt, Six Flags fended off Snyder's overtures but is looking to sell itself. It is unclear whether a sale would exempt a new owner from rebuilding the park. One analyst said he was unsure whether Six Flags could overcome the hurdles needed to rebuild. "Even if they end up positive from last year, they still don't have the money to do what they need (to the New Orleans park)," said Dennis Spiegel, president of International Theme Park Services, an industry consultant. "If it didn't open next year, I wouldn't be surprised at all."

WHo would ride the Crystal Beach Cyclone
verticalzero replied to crispy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would love to take this coaster for a ride, The 2 Helix's do look very extreme and the figure of 8. Please S&S or Gravity Group make this coaster for 2007 season at Cedar Point. -

Great Pic's, thanks for posting. I live 35 mins away and I enjoy going here rather than driving 3 hours to Alton Towers. Does "Colossus" still slow down and make a squeeling sound when going through the Cobra Roll..? Give it more grease so it can fly round the track. -
I loved this park and will be going back next year for a couple of days. Goliath is my fav Junior Hyper Coaster, love the "airtime" wish there were 5 humps at the end and not 3, but I can't complain much as it provides an amazing ride. Not much fun in the rain, feels like your face is in a hailstorm.

Great Video of AT at its best. Shame the Q's can get so long -
I did not think "El Condor at Walibi World" was rough, it was not bone-jarring , the worst bit was going through the the heart shape element at the start. As it is the prototype of its generation then I guess it had to have its rough places as these can be smoothed out in future rides. SOB was rough, They should of asked Custom Coasters or S&S to create the massive ride. My hands went numb after the 1st Helix, but I would def re-ride.

Demon Drop Video
verticalzero replied to PhishyBrewer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went on this in 2000, it was one of the 1st vertical drops i've been on and I can say I was scared at the top. It has done Cedar Point well and it will be missed when it goes from the park. Do you know where it is going or will it go and meet its maker.? So long Demon Drop, you have made loads of people happy and you will be missed. RIP -
Thorpe Park Discussion Thread
verticalzero replied to Rooey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The top half of the coaster looks good in white. I wonder what the "locals" think of this being created next door to them. It does look quite intense with that "Airtime" hill being so small, I just hope they do not put the brakes on the side of the hill as this would be so stupid. The best place for brakes is a long straight flat section after the "airtime hill"... It's great to see Thorpe Park adding a coaster with a good height to it. very rare for the UK to have a coaster so high. Will it be over in less time than Kinda Ka or TTD..?. The train sides look nice and exposed. -
Favorite Water Ride
verticalzero replied to SFMM rocks my socks's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Tidal Wave at Thorpe Park, you get soaked when sitting on any seat, great on a hot day. -
The problem with "Pepsi Max Big One" is it does not have any "Airtime" on the hills as it is designed wrong, The 1st drop is good, but after that you might as well go to asleep. They should of made an Out N Back layout like " Nitro" etc. I don't rate Pepsi Max at all. The "Wild Mouse" on the other hand is my kind of ride, insane speed and bounching up n down the humps with 90 degree corners. I wish it lasted longer. The " Nash" is great, and should have listed status. I love the station lightning at night. The "Big Dipper" is good but should have more "Airtime" on the hills. When riding try the 4-car train as this gives more "slight airtime" Going to Blackpool at the end of Oct, looking forward to everything apart from "Pepsi Max Big One". Was the "Whip" working when you were at the park, as it would be a shame to have it SBNO.

Is SFOT Park in the line of fire from Hurricane "Rita"..? What will be left standing if it is getting the full force. Any news on SFNO..?

Expedition GeForce in RCT3 Wild!
verticalzero replied to c0sterfreek's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
More coasters the better for RCT3 "Wild", it's best to make your own and ride that. There should be a comp to see who can design the best steel and woodie and then let B&M and other coaster companies to say who the winner is, and their coaster could become real..!!! -
