It has been reported that the park has just demolished Romig Mill, a centuries old building that the park states, had no more historical value to it. Heather Kramer, the public relations manager for the park, stated that they got everything cleared as far as permits are concerned to demolish the old building. Robert F. Ott, a former co-owner of Dorney Park, stated that the mill torn down was one of 7 working mills that were once in existence. However, with the demolition of this particular one, that only leaves one mill left in the area

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
verticalzero replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What type of Coaster do you guys want to see at Cedar Point..? I have only been there once in 2000 and love it. I was sad to leave Spent 16 hours there, I had flown 9 hours just to visit the Park and Kings Island within a 2 week period. I would like to see a large "Water/liquid coaster" or the largest "Booster Bike" coaster made. -
Why Do Some Coasters Get Trashed?
verticalzero replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What do you want/ look for in a Coaster..? Smooth, fast,Airtime, Vekoma Roughness = Steel Airtime, fast,Looks wonderful, maybe rough = Wood If I had a choice between a 200ft Steel and a 125ft Twister / Out n Back Woodie, the woodie will "win" everytime. Most people prefer a smooth ride and Wood can-not produce it. Yet Wood coasters need some TLC through their years, as they get older they need to have more maintance, if the park does not do this the coaster will become rough. I like Woodies as: You can feel everything which the ride throws at you You bounce down the drops Get slammed into corners Feel more secure even at great heights I hope there will be many more Wood coasters build over the years for everyone to enjoy. Someone build one at a Park near where I live, not 4 hours drive please. I may move house near Walibi World in a few years time, so I can get my fix on "Robin Hood" most weekends. -
If I was a Billionaire and had lots of cash to spend/give out, I would help out the smaller Theme Parks like "Joyland" and "Williams Grove", build new rides and refurbish their classic woodies. I would rebuild some of the "lost" coasters like the Rye Airplane Coaster and Crystal Beach Cyclone. I would re-profile SOB so it is not rough and has a better layout. Give my local Theme Park money to build a massive Woodie (4000+ feet long) as they need one, (Thorpe Park UK) What would you do if you had Billions to spend..?

Wild Mouse National at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. What a ride shame it's so short The nearest woodie to me is Megaphobia" at Oakwood in South Wales. It's 4 hours drive though. I'm waiting for Thorpe Park or Chessington to add a woodie coaster in the near future, made by GCI or Gravity Group. I may be waiting for a long time as woodies are not a good choice for UK parks.

An intresting interview with Chad Miller about building coasters: Chad Miller, one of the creative minds behind Gravity Group has designed and engineered one over 15 roller coasters. With 5 years experience at Custom Coasters and another 4 at Gravity Group he knows his way around the amusement industry. After only 2 coasters designed by Gravity Group, the company have gotten alot of attention from the media and enthusiasts. http://www.coasterforce.com/Chad_Miller_Interview

They should not be there as the situation has nothing to do with any other country. Let Iraq sort out it's own problems as long as there are not any nuke issues then let them get on with it. I hope a Nuke war does not breaks out in my life time as it will be like the Terminator 2 scene and I don't want to see a "Mushroom" cloud appear. Humans should be searching for other life forms and making the other planets a place to live not destory each other

Shame the ride may not open till 2007, but it is best to wait till most of the problems have been fixed. I can't wait to see the ride in action and watch all the very detailed themeing pass -

TPR breaks another Intamin Rocket?
verticalzero replied to WillMontu's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They should stick with good old fashioned "Chain lift Hill" or "Cable Drum" -
The Zippin Pippin, the most prominent and historic ride at Libertyland, sold for $2,500 today at public auction. The historic roller coaster, reportedly Elvis Presley's favorite ride, had been in operation since 1923. It was among an estimated 100 items Mid-South Fair officials put up for auction Wednesday as they prepare to close the park and sell off the assets to recoup losses. This guy bought the coaster: http://commercialappeal.com/mca/local/article/0,2845,MCA_25340_4792650,00.html

Backyard Rides
verticalzero replied to Angry_Gumball's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You have to admire the guy for creating his own coaster, I would make it have more hills and banked curves, even a dip below ground with a tunnel. -
What is the best floorless?
verticalzero replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've never been on a "Floorless" coaster as there are none in the UK. I hope to go on one if I go to the Dells and around that area next year. Which Parks have one of these coasters..? SFGA.? -
As the title says " Poor Birdies" I'm safe as I will never go on "Stealth"

Was the "tilt a whirl" the original Waltzer ride which is used in travelling fairs.? Does a "tilt a whirl" spin as fast as a waltzer..? What's the best one you have been on..? If you were an operator on a "Waltzer" and someone you knew or someone you did not like rode it, would you spin it faster than normal so the ride lives up to it's name: Spin n Puke

My avatar pic is of "Goliath's 1st and 2nd drop" at Walibi World in Holland. This is one of the best coasters I have been on, it has the height, speed and Airtime to ride all day and not come off dizzy, after 4 or more rides in a row you would get shaky legs. Shame I have to drive 8 hours to get to it from the UK. UK parks have boring coasters and they are not very long. I am thinking of moving to Holland in the next couple of years and will get a season pass for this wonderful coaster. I may even apply for a job there in the Summer months and work at near-by Center Parcs for the Winter. I'll be riding this coaster again on the last week of Aug 06

Favorite Restrants.
verticalzero replied to IwantRevenge's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Lap-Bars are the best restraints on a coaster as you can do the "1 click" so there is lots of room between you and the bar so you get Max Airtime. B&M should try it on their Inverted coasters. -
Funniest Ride Experiences
verticalzero replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I visited Cedar Point in 2000, I was on the Mine Train, when it does the drop over the water someone's "baseball" cap flew off at the front of the train and I caught it as I was in the back row. I was thanked quite a lot for saving it I was riding Goliath at Walibi World in Holland in May this year and I was sitting in the 3rd row from the front, there were 2 girls sitting in the front seats and on the 2nd to last bunny hop a set of keys flew out of one of the girls top pockets and went past me in slow motion. I don't know if the staff managed to find the key's, but this is a warning to say "don't put anything in your top pockets when riding a coaster with Airtime hills". -
"Stealth" at Thorpe Park must be the only coaster which has killed 10+ birds, I wonder if it is on a flight path.!! One of the worst things to happen to people on a coaster is to be hit by a bird. ouch
