  1. I love everything about De Efteling, the park is perfect, the ride ops and staff are so friendly towards everyone. I wish most of the Parks could be like this one, Efteling always go out their way for effects and theaming. I saw this ride being tested last May, Someone has posted a Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 version of the ride on youtube.com. I can't wait to go back and visit the Park along with this lovely looking ride.
  2. The Ropers have lost their case against Alton Towers. I hope their leave the Park alone and let all the guest have fun Link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/staffordshire/6486787.stm A couple have failed in their High Court bid to get Alton Towers amusement park to reduce noise levels. In 2004 owner Tussauds Theme Park was ordered to cut noise levels after complaints from Stephen and Suzanne Roper who live 100 yards (91m) away. Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court later raised the noise levels allowed under the order, and the couple decided to fight that decision in the High Court. Mr Justice Wilkie said residents must expect some noise from Alton Towers. He added that the crown court was justified in refusing to impose a "more exacting standard" on the park and rejected the Ropers' claim that the ruling was "irrational" and that the court had "taken leave of its senses". This case has shown that members of the community can stand up to big business and they can achieve a real result which the court considers will make a real difference Richard Buxton, solicitor Jonathan Caplan QC, for Tussauds, told the court that that the company had spent "a little under half a million pounds" in legal costs during the dispute. The Ropers' own legal bills are expected to run into five figures. In 2004, Tussauds was fined the £5,000 by magistrates who imposed a noise abatement order after complaints from the couple, from Farley. The company appealed and the crown court reduced the fine to £3,500 and relaxed the abatement order, raising the permissible noise level from 32 to 40 decibels. 'Not fussed' by costs But the couple felt it did not control noise levels from concerts and fireworks displays and that there was no adequate system in place to monitor sound levels. They also complained about the shrieks from people enjoying the theme park's white-knuckle rides. Their solicitor, Richard Buxton, said they felt the noise issue was so important that they were "not fussed" by the costs. The couple had succeeded in the earlier hearings in having some restriction on the noise level coming from the park. He said: "This case has shown that members of the community can stand up to big business and they can achieve a real result which the court considers will make a real difference. "We will have to see whether the abatement order works."
  3. I like WWE esp when the Rock, Bill Goldberg was in it. I know most of the matches are staged but they are most fun esp the backstage fights. I wish Sting could go to the WWE, he is my fav and watched WCW many times. Goldberg should come back to the WWE and face Sting at Westlemania
  4. That was a great video, but in some ways it was sad seeing the lift-hill keeling over, They could of left the lift-hill standing as a monument to the Park, just built round it. I have not ridden the coaster, if it was that rough the park could of re-tracked it. King's Island can have a great 4th July "Bonfire and fireworks" with SOB in a few years time. I would love to be see the 218ft lift-hill and double death helix's alight
  5. Its name means ‘at the very point of death’ in Latin, which couldn’t be more appropriate, since it’s based on the hangings that took place at the notorious Newgate gaol from 1783. After being transported from your ‘cell’ by the hangman, you’ll be placed back-to-back in the ride which will be taken to the top before dropping you to the floor. Your view from the top will be just like that of all those condemned at Newgate, seconds before they died, and the sensation of dropping, as if on the end of a noose, will give you the adrenaline rush of your life!
  6. Some artwork on how the drop ride will look like, a map of the insides of the attraction Ready to die
  7. This is a pov of the only "Tilt-coaster" in the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLJKF5XH8wM
  8. This is cool, I have to admire a guy who has the courage to do this: http://www.glumbert.com/media/tubeski>http://www.glumbert.com/media/tubeski
  9. "Troy" at Toverland, "Zeus" at Park Astrix and "Megafobia" are calling me this year.
  10. The Ropers aim is to close Alton Towers, if that happened they would become so wanted by everyone who visited the park the Ropers move outside of England. If the couple are in their 60's they should know better, but after playing enough golf he has got bored and wants AT next on his "hit-list". AT should give em a couple of million pounds to live somewhere else. Why spoil the enjoyment of AT visitor's and put a noise ASBO on it. It's so stupid
  11. Link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6470509.stm Do you think this cute guy should be saved or die..? I personally think he should stay alive, he is so lovely and if raised properly he will not attack humans: When he is older enough he should go to another Zoo to have family of his own. Berlin Zoo has vowed it will not kill a baby polar bear amid a heated row over whether it is right to hand-rear the cub, who was rejected by his mother. Knut has been nurtured by a keeper who has slept by his side, bottle-fed him, and strummed him Elvis Presley songs. But suggestions the three-month-old should have been put down to stop him becoming emotionally and physically reliant on a human have caused outrage. "We are keeping Knut," Berlin zoo's vet told the BBC. "He's staying alive." The zoo says Knut should be strong enough to make his first public appearance at the end of this week, having amassed an army of fans who have followed his development - from walking to weaning - in the city's newspapers. He has already posed for the world-renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz as part of an environmental campaign, and next week is to be the subject of a documentary series by German broadcaster ARD. Letting Knut go But ahead of his debut, several voices have questioned the decision to keep him alive after he was rejected by his mother, a 20-year-old former performing bear from East Germany. Both Knut and his twin were left exposed to freezing temperatures shortly after they were born in December. Knut's brother died, at which point the zoo intervened to save the surviving cub. Each time his keeper leaves him, and he can't follow, he will die a little Wolfram Graf-Rudolf Aachen Zoo "One should have had the courage to let the bear die then," said Wolfram Graf-Rudolf, head of the Aachen Zoo, cited by the Sueddeutsche newspaper. The zookeeper, who has watched the hand-rearing of two animals, said Knut will find life intolerable once bars inevitably come between him and his carer. "Each time his keeper leaves him, and he can't follow, he will die a little." Frank Albrecht, an animal rights campaigner, had started the debate in the mass-circulation Bild newspaper by declaring the zoo was violating animal protection legislation by keeping him alive. "If truth be told, the zoo should have killed the baby bear." New home Animals similarly rejected by their mothers in captivity have in the past been killed. Last December, a baby sloth was put down at Leipzig zoo after his mother refused to care for him. Knut has been on his feet since late February But each case is individual, argues Andre Schuele, Berlin Zoo's vet, and should be decided on their own merits. "Knut was a healthy baby bear when we found him and so there was no reason for us to put him down," he said. "And there's certainly no reason to do so now." To help Knut gain independence, he was already being left on his own for a couple of hours each day, and had been weaned off the bottle. Polar bears were lonesome creatures, and so spending several years without the company of other bears would not be a problem, said Mr Schuele. The cub will however eventually be introduced to others - although not back to his own family in Berlin Zoo. "He will go to another zoo," said Mr Schuele. "Eventually, we will find him a new home."
  12. You did right to tell an Op about taking a camera on the coaster, that is one of the worst things you can do, you risk everyone's life if it drops onto the track. When I was in Walibi World there were some kiddies 18 - 25 years old who started Q jumping cos they wanted to ride with their mates, I told them to get back in line - of course they did not listen to me so I told an Op. The Op asked other people in the Q if these kiddies were q jumping and they said "yes", the kids were banned from the ride for the rest of the day. If I see anything which can be dangerous I will tell an Ops, eps Q jumping as this is the most annoying thing to do at a Park.
  13. Wonderful parks like De Eftling make you forget the real world and all your problems, transport you somewhere else where you can become a "Big Kid" and ride all the steel and wood monsters. I like all the turns and drops, camelhumps, the feel of a coaster and the sense of being out of control. It's also how the coasters look when they have been freshly painted. For looks and design you can't beat a GCI coaster
  14. Troy is looking good again with it's lift-hill rising steadly every day. I hope for more GCI coasters in Europe esp in Holland and England.
  15. That is great news to hear such an old park being saved in today's world. It's shocking to see no multi-millionair's no buying into USA history and saving these parks. If I had the cash I would, invest buying new rides and making all the coasters are in "new" condition. The Park can now give the "Blue Streak" a good service and re-track the whole ride to make it smoother. Get those "sparks" flying I'll be able to visit the Park in a few years and check out "streakie" How much debit does it still owe..?
  16. I agree, BPB would be a great place for this type of coaster, "Infusion" should of been called "Devil's Flight" or "Satan" with all it's theaming / booming deep voice etc. Paint the track Red and the train / cars Black.
  17. The riders were lucky it stopped near to 8ft above the ground, imagine if the OHR opened when it was going down the 1st drop or through an inversion. You would get plenty of if that happened, No-one can blame Vekoma for this mishap, all coasters will go wrong / malfunction in their life-times, it's a question of when and what happens. Everyone was safe and that is the main thing.
  18. When you ride Valhalla, make sure you are wearing "full wet" gear, you can get very wet. This rides does not have large drops, it has a nice double down where you can try to catch some "Dry Ice" / mist which blocks your view of how high the drop really is. I do not ride the Big One unless I have to. It's ok to do it once but I do not rate it. Most of all have a great time in the Park and try to relax when you ride the "coasters"
  19. Make "Wild Mouse" your 1st ride at Blackpool before anything else. This will make every other ride you do seem tame, even the PMBO
  20. My friend and I spent an afternoon by the sea (far too cold to go for a swim but amazing sunny weather for March), we headed 40 miles south to Hayling Island to a park "Funland" and Southsea Pier 1/2 hour drive along the coast towards Portsmouth. Rides at Hayling Island: Klondike Gold Mine - Steel Coaster, used to be at Drayton Manor Park 125ft Drop Tower - came from the Trocodrea in London. Brackdance, KMG Afterburner and lots of kiddies rides. Rides at Southsea: Skyways - S.D.C. / Galaxi Steel Coaster http://rcdb.com/ig840.htm Disc O, Twister, Waltzer and an Extreme flat ride. We left home at 10am and had a relaxing 1.5 hours drive to a pub at the end of Hayling Island which serves great food, there is also a foot "ferry" to near-by Gosport. After our lunch we headed back along the beach / coast to spend about 1/2 hour at Funlands. No trip is complete without 6 goes on "Daytona USA" and " Sega Rally" Arcade games. I wish I could have the 8 "linked" cabinet version of Daytona installed in my house. Cheat for Daytona: "Press start when you see fruit reals on the 1st circuit to get 777 and claim a free credit". We left "Funlands" and traveled along the coast to Southsea. Got home about 8pm after a fun sunny wind filled day by the sea. Enjoy the Pic's A SBNO loop the loop ride, weird looking A Disc-O with "Skyways" coaster behind. Front half of Hovercraft. Is this the world's 1st Air Suspension travel. Service started in 1962 Heading towards the Hovercraft area and Southsea Funfair Looks unstabble, where's that paintbrush A pier shot Southsea and Pier turn right My car enjoying the sun. My friend standing by the car, numberplate covered over for security For KMG Flat ride lovers Does not look that high, but you drop at 5G's Hello Klondike Gold Mine coaster All 3 rides in shot at Hayling Island's Funlands Car dashboard view of Sea I'm free Gammon Steak, chips, peas and mint sauce, washed down with a bottle of beer. mmmmm mighty tasty Looking out to the Sea Looking towards Gosport across the water from Hayling Island
  21. One of my fellow European Coaster Clubs members directed me to the below website and I can borrow any DVD and Book for "free". www.rollercoastermedialibrary.com I'm watching a "The Great American Scream Machine" documentary DVD Thanks for everyone's help.
  22. ECZenith - I'll swap countries with you anytime, I can drive my PT Cruiser in it's home country and hit Route 66. I would love to live in the USA, get as many Season passes as possible for Holiday World, Cedar Point, Kings island etc. Most USA coasters are "get on your Knees and bow" amazing
  23. Busch Gardens does look beautiful with some lovely rides to top it off Is "Gwazi" really that rough and people do not ride it..? Sheikra looks stunning esp when it hits the water.
  24. Do any of these slides use a "Rubber Ring"..? You could see if you can clear the whole pool, tarmac not good ouch.
  25. Thanks for the info: I don't think my local public library would stock this book as it is was published in the USA. I'll keep checking Ebay.com and ACE Website. If anyone wants to sell theirs or knows of one being sold for up to $50 inc p&p to the UK.
