  1. My ship pulled in to a relatively near by port. (Aomori) I couldn't get there easily with the time constraints and all the other parks I wanted to visit during the same 4 day port visit, so I had to do that park by itself. I had to pay for the train both ways, plus cab, food, entry and ride tickets. The total was right about $200 for the one credit. Before I went, no westerner really knew what was there, other than the name of the coaster. C'mon, Kirin is BEER! It should have been a really decent ride. Too bad I didn't know what kirin meant in Japanese at the time... At least no one else will have to go there again!
  2. Hey, Don, I left Japan back in November... While this coaster isn't quite as lame as a Moli-coaster, it cost me about $200 to find out what it was. New for 2006! A coaster named after BEER! http://www.rcdb.com/ig3549.htm?picture=2 Or not.
  3. It does indeed look very nice. Perhaps a TPR trip in 2009 could be the Middle East, complete with (adequately) armor plated Hummers instead of buses?
  4. ^ Ditto! I was all excited when I thought there had been an update...
  5. I hope no one backs into that one support right in the middle of the street!
  6. ^^ Amen, James, I've been on two of them, and I don't get what's so great about them either. Maybe it's just popular because the smaller ones can ride it?
  7. The statue is too large to be dropped into the column it stands on, so that's not it either. It really is an awesome stunt, and all I could ever think of was a really good hologram, but I was decidedly under the impression that those are more science fiction than science fact right now.
  8. ^This thing covers a LOT of ground. While the support pylons could be themed, the long spans are over a large portion of the park. That makes it difficult to theme. Plus, it's so tall that making canyons would be difficult and somewhat pointless.
  9. I dunno, you can walk around three sides of that idol in the TDS ToT. You can see the back of the idol and everything. I'm not sure that it's an example of the pepper's ghost trick.
  10. I'm not sure if TOGO went bankrupt or out of business, but Tobu Zoo isn't owned by them in either case. Tobu is a railway company in Japan. I suspect that this will be a replacement for the defunct Mount Rocky Coaster. If it goes in the same location, there's no telling how large it could be as that ride had a LOT of empty space around it. Also, that coaster was mostly above water, so the new ride could be too.
  11. Wow. New entry in the 'Rarest Credit Ever' contest. It looked really interesting when I was there last summer, I even thought the video looked pretty cool, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. At least there's likely no way the park is paying for it. Doppelmayr (SP?) will have to sell a lot of ski lifts to make up for that little foray into the rides business!
  12. I saw it three times, and there is no smoke or mirrors involved in making that idol disappearing. It's a fantastic stunt, and I'll be curious if anyone knows how it is done!
  13. ^ Julie, check out this picture: http://www.rcdb.com/ig1243.htm?picture=5 So, does Regina meet your specifications for 'female theming'?
  14. I don't even get the question, JimmyBo... I count coasters. Not relocations, retracks, repaints, rethemes or renames. The 'issue' with my counting stems from my counting powered and water coasters, along with the habit of counting twin tracked coasters twice once I get both sides. Yeah, I'll ride kiddy coasters, too, what of it? Once a certain website gets it's software updated, it should have 'enthusiast mode' and something of a 'credit whore mode'. At that point, I'll stop counting powered coasters or anything else not on the enthusiast mode. Also, if I ever reach 1000, by whatever means, I'll probably stop counting completely. Maverick.
  15. Yup, it's not an all encompassing list. That ballot's HUGE the way it is! The last day is upon us! The end is near!
  16. No, I'd probably fall flat on my face. Not fun. Do you like Oreos?
  17. Interesting... I thought I had seen your ballot in there, Lou. I guess not... Enjoy!
  18. I knew Deadheads had a hard time staying on track, but I didn't know Phishermen (or whatever your called) had the same problem. Six Flags sold 7 properties, OMG! So, when is CF going to get around to pulling Paramount off all those park names, 6F included that issue in the language of the sale...
  19. That water/light show was actually very good. It's been there more than ten years, and it rivals the show at the Bellagio.
  20. Let's not descend into top that contests about inverted, launched, wooden log flumes again, please?
  21. ^^ Where's your ballot, Robb? I saw Elissa submitted hers... Never mind, yours is up now, too. Oh, and there's Dan's...
