I disagree, shortening the ride cycle would actually lower the temperature of the motors. Each time the pendulum changes direction so does the motors. During the direction change the magnetic fields in the motors will collapse as the drives slows the motors in preparation for the direction change. When the drives begins turning the motors the other direction, the motors will draw a lot of current (in-rush current) in order to recreate the magnetic fields lost during the direction change. With each direction change the motor temperature will increase as a result of the in-rush current. By decreasing the number of swings the motors won't get as hot. Thanks for the backup. At least someone else knows how electric motors work LOL.

I guess I need to ride more Boomerangs then. The only standard Boomerang I've ridden is the one at Six Flags St. Louis and it sucks, so my opinion on Boomerangs is low in that sense. I guess with new trains it's a good bargain Yeah. I agree that the bad ones can be bad, but the good ones are pretty good. If you end up in Wildwood don't miss Morey's. Despite the old (original?) trains, it rides better than any old-school Vekoma should. Same goes for their SLC.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
AmyUD06 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
"Combo Tickets" for both parks don't exist; they have different owners. KD tickets will be approx. $20+ less than gate cost per person if you buy online in advance and choose what specific day you're going. The website is currently showing 2019 Any Day tickets for $39.99, which I believe is $20 off the gate price. If you're going to any other CF parks this year, a Platinum Pass pays for itself in three trips when you consider parking. Busch Gardens website is showing 1-day admission for $59.49 right now, down from $84.99 at the gate. That offer "expires Jan 30th." Both parks should have minimal crowds on a weekend in April. -

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I have two philosophies when I travel: Option 1 - Luxury/Best-of-the-Best. In this case, that would be Breakers. Option 2 - Cheapest I can get where I'm not going to get robbed at/infected with bedbugs. In this case, that would be the Magnuson Hotel. Others here will call boo but I had a perfectly fine 3-night stay back in June 2017 for like $40 a night. The pool being open until midnight was awesome. On an amusement park trip you're not spending any time in the hotel. -

What area really needs a theme park?
AmyUD06 replied to let1gre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Muskegon is the home of Michigan's Adventure. The joke is that it's not believed to be much of a park, so the region could use an "actual" park. I personally disagree with the assessment and found MiA to be quaint and perfectly sized for the region. -

Moreys Piers Discussion Thread
AmyUD06 replied to LcHg5265's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just to blow things completely out of proportion, the cleared areas are similar to that which would be needed for the pier-spanning wooden coaster. No I don't think that's actually what's going on.
