  1. Call me an old man, but I've got to believe it's just this generation of youth being lazy and/or believing that they are "too good" for that kind of work. Back in my day, I worked at Six Flags Great Adventure from 15-21 years old in 1998-2003 for $5.15-8.25 an hour and was thankful for the job.
  2. When I was there last year they offered a "VIP Coaster Tour" package which got you up the exit ramp to each coaster once.
  3. It was owned by Premier Parks when they bought Six Flags, so yes, in a way.
  4. Fridays at this time of year have lighter crowds, but make up for it with lots of (often loud, annoying, and poorly-behaved) school groups. Ugh, if the park had an adult night id pay extra for that, 18+ only Make that 25+. College kids are for the most part a-holes too.
  5. It is, mostly. They've got like 2 classic machines. And a TON of redemption games. Just like D&B. Honestly the best arcade for real video games in the tri-state area is probably Barcade on Frankford in Philly.
  6. I know the operators of the Walking Taco stand. Reason it's not back? Landlord wanted to increase their rent by $15k a month.
  7. Just to add fuel to the fire... It could be a Gerstlauer "dive" coaster like Hangtime...
  8. I believe it happens exactly as you state - if something gets held up at the station, train 3 will stop at the MCBR.
  9. As everyone else, including me, has said in this thread numerous times - do not buy Fast Lane in advance. There is no advantage to it. When you get to the park, judge crowds/weather, and buy it if needed. They will not sell out.
  10. Another quick update... Great Noreaster got some new signage, and no sign of the 2nd train in sight. Had a ride in the back row and I'm sad to say it's losing some of its smoothness. Still quite smooth, and nowhere near as bad as it was in 2016, but noticeably worse than last year. EDIT: In retrospect, it's still an absolutely great ride, and the perceived roughness may have just been the hangover I was nursing from the night before. Took a ride on Dante, nothing new and no actors inside. Only other change I noticed on Surfside Pier was that Convoy is under demolition/refurb. Some vertical construction on the new spinner. And finally, the retro arcade in the basement of the Boardwalk Mall is no more... And that's it for this trip. I'll be back here Memorial Day Weekend.
  11. Yeah, you're right about the pier names. I always get them confused.
  12. Mini-TR 5/11/18 I'm in Wildwood this weekend for the spring car show, and apparently Morey's is running some sort of soft-open for their main pier (hours weren't posted on the website). Only Morey's Pier was open; Mariner's was testing and Adventure was dark. Boldy beat me to pics of the new coaster track, but here's another one for the hell of it... Some other updates... The go-karts below the pier got a new sign... ...and a new stairwell. New beer garden set up under Sea Serpent's lifts. Updated Pirates of the Wildwoods.... ..with a "No Single Riders" policy for some reason. I asked the op scanning cards what the deal was, and she didn't know, and I just don't get it. I understand why there's no single riders on the ferris wheel, but not quite on this ride. Anyway, the boardwalk was pretty deserted on Friday at around 8:00 PM... The new swim club at the north end is coming along nicely, but they've still got quite a bit of work to do on the pool (seen on the right). Hey, look, they started construction on the multi-pier coaster!!!!!111!!!11!1!Joking obviously. Grabbed some pizza from Franconi's (sorry guys but I can't stand Mack's), then went to see if the awesome FlowHouse bar was open. It was not. Back on the pier to get my coaster fix. Rode Sea Serpent in row 3 and was pleasantly surprised by how smooth it was. Then, in the absence of any other coasters operating in town, I reduced my self to... It wasn't that bad without any brakes due to being the only car on the course. Anyway, finished off the night where all nights on the boardwalk need to end... ...and back to the hotel to relax for a bit before hitting the bars.
  13. They need to keep it so they can get their coaster count up to 20. It won't go anywhere until they hit that number. By that logic Wildcat would still be in the park.
  14. -180* Stall - Going straight, track turns upside down and then right side up the same direction it came from, reversing rotation direction. -Zero-G-Roll - Going straight, track turns upside down then right side up the opposite direction it came from, continuous rotation direction. -Dive Loop - Track ascends, does a 180* roll, then continues into a half-loop, heading back in the direction it came from. -Breaking Wave Turn - No clue -Heavily Banked Turn - I would interpret this as to mean an overbank turn, which would be any turn banked greater than 90* -45* lift - Special? Not really...most coasters have shallower lifts though.
  15. When you say “on site” you mean buy at the park? I’ve heard that there’s only a limited amount of fast lanes available each day, is this true? Yep I meant "at the park." It is true that it's limited, but if you buy as soon as you get there it won't be an issue. Basically the reason you're holding off is weather - if you buy in advance and then you go and it's cloudy and 50* and there are now crowds, you've thrown the money away. But if you go and it's clear, just swing right by the counter and pick it up.
  16. It's only when you buy on-site, which you should be doing anyway.
  17. If you're going to be in Muskegon, there is an awesome (but not cheap) ferry to take you to Milwaukee, which is about an hour from SF Great America, and you get to avoid driving in all the Chicago traffic. Yes, the boat ride and time it takes to load/unload can be upwards of 3.5 hours, but it definitely beats the monotony of the Indiana Toll Road and bullshit of Chicago traffic (6-7 hours). https://www.lake-express.com/
  18. Er....what? I bought online and renewed my Cedar Fair Platinum Pass this year at the parking booth at King's Dominion . I'm using the same card as I had last year (that was originally issued at MiA).
  19. An ancient mine train by a manufacturer no longer in business with wooden supports is probably the least likely candidate for relocation ever, sorry.
  20. Steel Phantom wasn't exactly minor in 1990s dollars, I'm sure, and Arrow was the biggest name in the business back then. Granted, that was before Parques Renudos ownership, but still.
  21. It's the beginning of the season in March on a chilly day what did you expect? Not everything is going to be up to standards at the very start of the season. Plus Twisted Timbers is brand new, they are working out the bugs. Oh, I wasn't complainining...apologies if it came off that way. I understand Twisted Timbers is new and has some kinks to be ironed out. I was just commenting on the unusual-for-this-park state of operations. And I wouldn't exactly call mid-50s to low-60s "chilly".
  22. Apparently Twisted Timbers opened up around 8PM last night....and promply shut down again at 9. No idea if they got it going again; I left. I stopped by this morning to try again for Twisted Timbers....no dice. Bunch of guys in RMC clothing walking around the brake run/transfer track area seemingly checking things. Waited about 30-45 minutes then gave up and headed home. I'll second what was said about yesterday's operations....just nutty for this park. -Dominator not open until mid-day. -FoF and i305 not open until ~1 PM. -Volcano had a rollback on what looked like the 4th train of the day which took the ride down for an hour. -Lines for Woodstock Express, Avalanche, Backlot, and Anaconda backed out of the queue lines.
