The mysterious yellow B&M!

Is this the real Laser Snake Horse on Fire? -
Or just pull a Geauga Lake by closing the park down and moving the rides around to other Cedar Fair parks. Superman could go to Kings Dominion as "Mediocre Generic Hypercoaster", Batwing to Dorney as "Nighthawk", Jokers Jinx to Cedar Point as "Possessed Backlot Twisted Coaster," and Penguins Blizzard River to Valleyfair as "Spinning Raft Water Ride."

R.I.P. Park at MoA Seriously, this was the last good ride at the park that was not trashed with Nickelodeon theming. I rode Log Chute last year, and there was a sign above the entrance that said it would become a "Back at the Barn Yard" themed ride. The original Paul Bunyan's Log Chute was pretty much a smaller, newer version of Knott's Timber Mountain Log Ride. Now imagine if Knott's did something like this to their flume too... Big mistake, Mall of America.

It's about time to get rid of this. It has been remodeled numerous times, and delivered a less-than-mediocre experience. The ride is your typical 4D theater with moving seats in front of a large screen. The jungle/dinosaur theming is still there today, but when they rethemed it, they just got rid of the dinosaurs. My first ride on it was in 2002 (I believe it was themed to Stargate at the time) and my seat was broken - meaning it did not move when it was supposed to. I waited over an hour for that and to this day it is the single worst waste of time in line for a ride. Heck, even bad coasters at least count as a credit. The last this operated was during Holiday in the Park in 2007 themed to a very cheesy story about Santa and his sleigh. The entrance was blocked off all of last year, and did not hold another holiday themed show last season. Looking over the wooden fence that blocked off the entrance last summer.

Knott's Ghost Rider

If Dick can't keep Mean Streak at "his" park in good, rideable condition, why should he bother keeping the woodies at the other parks in good condition as well? -
Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride

As of New Years eve when I last rode it, it was still as great as ever! On a side note, Millennium Flyers really make a difference. Back on the east coast trip when I rode SFA's Roar, which uses PTC trains, the difference could really be noticed. Their Roar was terribly rough. You could feel the trains shuffling side to side along the track, and the pacing was downright bad. Ten years of PTCs on a GCI track have made the ride much worse than it should be. The same can be said for Hershey's Wildcat. Although Wildcat's PTC trains were sent to Lake Compounce to be used on Boulder Dash, the track damage could still be felt under the new Millennium Flyers. -
Planning a Trip to NJ Six Flags

I assume you're talking about SFGAdv. 1. The best rides are: El Toro, Nitro, Kingda Ka, Medusa, and Batman 2. Everything is expensive at Six Flags parks 3. Easily! I got in all but two coasters when I was there for only a half day in August. -

Those two hours at Chili's were better than the entire time we spent at SFA earlier that day. $7 for a meal at Chili's was far cheaper, better, and more filling than any meals that were not included in the trip cost at the parks. BGE was certainly a great day. It was one of the few parks where I feel like I got the full experience - meaning, I got to ride everything (including all the non-coasters, especially water rides) that I wanted to ride, as well as have a relaxing day. Looking forward to seeing the next part of the BGE trip report as well as what you come up with to say about the park that thinks they're better than Busch. -

Any word on what they are doing with the old trains? -
Thrill Shot closes if the flag on top of the Sky Tower is moving at all. They use that as indication as if the air is calm enough to operate.

Silver Bullet isn't silver either. Typical Cedar Fair. -
Retired Coasters
Goliath513 replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Flashback was actually the first ride I rode at SFMM when I first visited the park in early 2001. Nothing else was open (to much surprise... ). I rode it at least 5 times over the course of the two days I was there. My brother and I got in many re-rides because everything else was either closed or had too long of lines to ride again. Despite it being *slightly* painful, it was sure a unique and thrilling experience. I never did get to ride Psyclone because it was closed every time I went there. As for other retired coasters, the list is pretty big, but my first coaster, Windjammer, is on the list. I always wanted to ride Drachen Fire, and I was sad to see that go. It's always sad when a coaster is removed, but if it's something like a Togo death machine being removed for an awesome Intamin prefab woodie (El Toro), then I'm all for it. Now if the coaster is really bad (Kong, Mind Eraser, Mean Streak, Hurler...), then replacing it with a dirt field would be better! -

This is starting to look like Xcelerator... and I do NOT mean that in a good way. Why? The paint. -

I have done some research, and I looks like this points to Silverwood. http://www.silverwoodthemepark.com/history.php ISC Systems Corporation is Gary Norton's company and used to be called Getronics. And X-Works has a connection with Getronics. So X-Works points to Gary Norton - the owner of Silverwood. SC could mean "standing coaster" or "sitting coaster" but the rumors I have heard all point to a stand up. -

^ Look closely, and you'll see it says 01/01/2004. Someone must have forgot to reset the date on their camera when they replaced the batteries. Besides, that coaster just opened up last year, so why would they manufacture the track 4 years early? -

Now that you mention it, I remember hearing that Silverwood is planning a new custom designed B&M stand-up for 2010. This would be nice to see since there hasn't been a stand up coaster built in almost 10 years. Also, as I was driving through Denver earlier tonight, I drove by Elitch Gardens and noticed that Flying Coaster is still there. This got me thinking - it was closed all of last year and was not included on the park map, so maybe they will remove it once the weather warms up in a few months and begin work on a new project for 2010 which could be this coaster. The last coaster installed at the park was Halfpipe in 2004 - which many would not even consider to BE a coaster. The previous coaster was Flying Coaster which is closed and about to make an exit. This leaves Boomerang which was built in 1999. PARC seems to be doing fairly good (economic wise, compared to SFI, etc), and when I was last at the park, it was the most crowded I had ever seen it. A small B&M floorless or something would be a perfect fit for Flying Coaster's location. Although considering the last "new" floorless built (Hydra at Dorney) was very disappointing and seemingly pointless, a ride like this would be better than the other coasters at Elitch's. Just some optimism from a local... I remove my call for SFA getting this, because their BIG announcement came so suddenly and without any prior speculation; which leads me to believe they are getting a Hard Rock Park coaster instead. These other two parks have had rumors going around about a new coaster long before HRP even closed. -

I doubt CGA will build anything since they can't even get their GCI built because of bitchy neighbors. I think this is for that "BIG announcement" for SFA.
