  1. I dunno, the Gold Mine coaster at Rainbow's End has to be one of the best coasters on the planet for sheer enjoyment value, not to mention awesome theming.
  2. This wasn't at at a carnival. It was at an indoor park, and a relatively high standard one; I've been there.
  3. I just added one more set of pictures, this time from the Sydney Royal Easter Show. http://www.themeparks.ie/fairs/2008sres/index.htm
  4. Yeah, that's been said to me before. As usual I've forgotten to do it. One of these days...
  5. I've just posted trip reports from a recent jaunt to Australia: http://www.bannister.org/coasters/trips/2008/ Photo albums are available also; direct links are: Adventure World (Bibra Lake, WA, Australia) http://www.themeparks.ie/australia/advworld/index.htm Dreamworld (Coomera, QLD, Australia) http://www.themeparks.ie/australia/dreamworld/index.htm Luna Park Melbourne (Melbourne, VIC, Australia) http://www.themeparks.ie/australia/lunamelbourne/index.htm Luna Park Sydney (Sydney, NSW, Australia) http://www.themeparks.ie/australia/lunasydney/index.htm Merimbula's Magic Mountain (Merimbula, NSW, Australia) http://www.themeparks.ie/australia/merimbula/index.htm Warner Bros Movie World (Gold Coast, QLD, Australia) http://www.themeparks.ie/australia/warner/index.htm
  6. OK cool. If anyone can shed any definitive light on the more than one train question (a photo would be cool!) I'd appreciate it.
  7. Good catch on that video... that's cleared up a few points. If anyone can offer pointers on the other questions I'd appreciate it though.
  8. Okay, what I'd like to know is: - Has it ever run more than one car? I don't think so, but it'd be nice to know. - What sort of dispatch interval was there prior to upgrade? Judging by it now I'd guess five minutes plus. - Did it really run with lap bars at one stage?
  9. Has anyone in this forum ridden the Tower of Terror at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg *prior* to its refurbishment, i.e. pre-2005? I've got a handful of questions I'd like to get answered if possible...
  10. Indeed, I'm surprised it took that long. The obvious example is one of the German fair coasters, such as Olympia Looping. It's quite scary to see the throughput of that ride; five trains at once...
  11. I'm lurking in this thread largely because I'm doing much the same thing in May. If you're prepared to wait until then I'll gladly post feedback on how our route went! The plan is here - http://www.bannister.org/coasters/trips/2008/
  12. I'm not planning to jinx them by attempting to enumerate an exact number of new credits, but I will definitely break #1200 this year. The plans are here: http://www.bannister.org/coasters/trips/2008/
  13. Shrug. Third time lucky for Superman I hope... it's been shut on me twice.
  14. Yeah, that's kind of what I figured. Pity. I'll be at MM in late March.
  15. Has there been any indication as to when the refitted ride might open beyond the rather open "Spring"?
  16. I dunno, Robb; Southend isn't that far from London. OTOH the average theme park patron probably hasn't *heard* of Southend, so I guess it'll be new to them
  17. Hope they sort it out quickly... I'm gonna be there in a few weeks!
  18. Sierra Tonante sucked. Good riddance to it.
  19. I went to Funderland Dublin today... does that count?
  20. I'm not sure I believe that. One ill timed gust of wind...
  21. This is one thing that I will not ride. I've seen what can happen when you have a bad landing on your spine. No doubt the manufacturers and parks will protest that this ride is safe, but one day there will be a first time, and I don't want it be me.
  22. My information is that the Speed Loop will be held on to for the moment, though obviously there's no point in it doing Funderland with the rather bigger Looping Star outside. It's going to be reserved for the smaller events.
  23. I've just posted a photo set from the press day: http://www.themeparks.ie/fairs/2007fund/index.htm This year looks to be the best Funderland ever.
  24. Why does that sound like a Pinfari ZL42 to me? Am I the only one who thinks replacing a wooden wild mouse with a carnival Pinfari is a bad trade...?
