  1. Hong Kong Disney loads from the left too.
  2. Ride Sims just added a version for rock n roller coaster paris: http://ridesims.com/news/2014/02/new-sim-rock-n-roller-coaster/
  3. Gotta agree it was delicious, we saw it only on one stand near Grizzly but it was very popular and was gone everytime we tried to get some. Finally managed to get a box of it on our last day.
  4. Was your day also packed with tour groups? We found it really interesting how all the tour groups seemed to hit up Ocean Park to the point where there were 45 minute lines for even the observation tower yet we barely saw any of them in Disney and saw 5-10 minute lines for everything but the parachute and autopia on both days of our trip. Although my g/f who has been to China before seemed to think the free aquarium and dolphin show once you was in was what was the main draw (although the aquarium was packed and had a line all day, the pandas next door was empty same with the sealions vs the dolphin area) for them heading here over disney. I had planned to head back to Ocean Park for a second day since I really really wanted a second go on whirly bird as well as the chairlifts which re-opened just for that friday since it was a public holiday but once we saw the lines for tickets we hit the beach and watched the park from afar.
  5. That's going to be a lot of nude scandals for athletes: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-57618407-83/sochi-visitors-entering-hacking-minefield-by-firing-up-electronics/
  6. ^ That one wasn't very big but I feel like there was a bigger one in Osaka aquarium when I popped into it before Universal Studios, If i'd known it was so rare i'd have taken pictures. I set out to see a manta ray mainly but I feel like i've seen one of those in every aquarium i've visited lately
  7. Sea paradise had this thing in a tank on it's own in their big glass dolphin tunnel thingy is it the same thing?
  8. They'll just point them in the direction of a ticket upgrade booth, and hundreds of dollars later, they'll be happily traveling hundreds of feet to the other park. Waiting time for ticket upgrade booths 30 minutes from this point
  9. Sorry i'm not quite sure which ride you were referring to.
  10. Sorry, this one is late, changes in real life means i've been very busy but here finally is my Ocean Park update. This update will be a little shorter than my usual updates, normally when I visit the park i'll ride a lot of rides where I can get a good view but the chairlift was down and the park was rammed full of old people tour groups who seemed to really like the observation tower which had one of the longest lines of the park (I wasn't prepared to wait 45 minutes for some photos. I've never been to a park which was so packed with tour groups, nearly every person I saw had numbers pinned to them. Is this common in Chinese Parks? We saw one or two numbered people in Disney but we barely saw them at all the other tour spots of Hong Kong and i've never seen them in Hong Kong but most of the day was spent dodging around big lines of people following the flags. Sadly despite all the numbers I never did find a man with the number 6 badge, he must have already escaped (or did he?) I also under estimated how how much time it would take me to walk from ride to ride, we genuinely used most of the day just walking back to quieter rides for re-rides. Normally when I do bigger updates I tend to talk about the park here but since there's fewer pictures this time i'll leave my comments on the pictures. Welcome to Ocean Park There was a lot of construction going on outside Ocean Park, although there were numerous buses it seems they are extending the MTR so it will service the other side of the mountains. Great news for me since although I don't normally get car sick, having to sit backwards or stand on the buses to Repulse Bay during our vacation or the ones that raced down from Victoria Peak around corners made me feel pretty ill. Since the chairlift was down and a line had formed for the express, by the time we got to the summit there was lengthy queues and the single rider was not open so we decided to check back later and opted to head to the older parts of the park first. Going by the coaster paint I can only assume it's Puff the magic dragon. It was strange to pass 40 minute lines for the observation tower and then find these rides completely empty. I had to wait quite a while for a car to come round. loop-de-loop It has a great view but the ride experience..... not so much I was far happier enjoying the view and watching the coaster than riding it. Stunning view Down for maintenance sadly. I waited and waited for a car to go but in the end gave up. My first ever Condor, it was fun but having never seen one in real life before, i'd assumed it would spin faster than it did (that's me riding so I could get a picture of it in action. Jin insisted we see the dolphin show I just took in the view instead We hit up the mine-train next Has anyone mentioned how great the view is. Again lacking riders Another shot as we headed to the summit I've always wanted to ride these, once I got it swinging I had so much fun on these, I wish the line had been shorter it was really, really fun. One thing I noticed was that most people didn't swing it, they played with the lever on the ground and used it once or twice in the air then gave up, I didn't see anyone really make them swing by doing it for most of the ride cycle. Didn't get a chance to ride this sadly. Such a fun ride. I thin i've now ridden all of the park versions of these having also been on the one at Fantasy Island 10 years ago. They are fun but nothing special. Off to the newest area I'm not sure why I waited so long for this I don't even consider it a credit It was a fun little family ride but pretty standard. For some reason I thought this would go inside and outside, it kind of helixed twice and then went back to the station and did 1 more lap. There was a great view from the line though Since it became obvious that the single rider wasn't going to open today, I sucked it up and joined the 45 minute line. I was kind of surprised to see only 1 train, I didn't see a second anywhere, does it even have one? I don't mind being assigned seats when i'm in a single rider line since that's what you agree to but it sucked they made you go to an assigned seat after the normal wait. I got put at the front on both waits and had quite a noticeable rattle for both rides. I'd have liked to try the back seats and see if my experience was any different. I'm not sure if the entrance is cool or creepy With the chairlift down, there wasn't many photo opportunities. The inversions were fun but the bunny hop was my favorite part by far, I think I got more airtime from that than most B&M Hypers. Twisty Best bit about the penguins? Not needing to wait in line for a ride to seem them. First time ever seeing a panda so i'm glad it wasn't sleeping. Halloween decorations were everywhere Attack the pumpkin For a park that is still constructing its shark exhibit there were a lot of sharks in the main aquarium, the aquarium seemed the busiest part of the whole park more so than the rides, even visiting it last in the late afternoon we could barely move inside, it was even busier than when we visited the Osaka aquarium. Although reading recent Ocean Kingdom TR's, it seems people like to visit the theme park aquariums Unlike Japan, the manta ray on exhibit didn't seem to be advertized as much. Although unlike Aqua Stadium at least the tank seemed big enough for it. Aqua Stadium always seemed like a weird aquarium to me, the main bit seemed really tiny , one of the tiniest i've seen compared to others and the tunnel tank seemed barely big enough for the manta ray (i'm assuming its deeper than it appears from below) yet it had a really big dolphin stadium with pilot whale and sea-lion show Even when we left late afternoon there were still tour groups pouring into the park. So many numbered people coming in, it was strange since the main turnstyle and ticket booths were empty but there was this line and more flags coming up the steps as we left.
  11. Bump just found some spam in some-one elses thread, although the mods must be super fast, this is one of the first times i've ever seen it.
  12. A reacreation of defunct Big Bad Wolf. This time made out of wood. They've brought Orphan Rocker.
  13. A wild guess but perhaps Superman already was structurally secure enough for a drop tower to be added? I'm guessing either because it's a different ride type or maybe it was built to withstand potential earthquakes? (did that happen for superman? I feel like some-one mentioned it a long time ago but I'm not sure)
  14. Perhaps the map changes the ride available list with each new map? I wouldn't say never but when I visited they 100% advertised ToT on the back of the map along with spirits and Indy but there was 0 mention of journey which is why it was my first fast pass dash (I wish I hadn't lost that map when I moved house). Although the handy guide to all the pop-corn flavours on the back of the map was just as helpful since some flavours only had 1 stand and i'd have completely missed it , Also before I went I made this guide for people to find links to help them out, although it may be a bit dated now: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1142982#p1142982 since not all websites had a refurbishment list in English (like Fuji and Universal) and the reason I was able to list the single rider rides for disney sea on that list was before the website had a slight re-design, they actually had a section under guest services titled single rider so you could see in advance of going which rides were offering it.
  15. To be fair Smiler doesn't even need idiots to throw things at park guests, it will just do it itself.
  16. They had single rider for Indy, ToT and Raging Spirits when I visited. All rides had 3 hour lines but Indys crew were fantastic and just ploughing through single riders. Raging spirits and ToT, the ride-ops kept yelling out into the normal line and fast pass lines for single riders first in case there were any (quite often there were, single rider didn't seem well advertized in the entrances but they were listed on a square at the bottom of the park map) so I ended up waiting an hour for both which was still quicker than the 3 hour lines. Universal I'd heard bad things about there single riders and though it was annoying they wouldn't run them if the line was 30 mins or less (i'd happily skip 30mins and take any seat) they seemed well advertised and popular, I think single rider for fantasy and spiderman was hitting 40 minutes during the busy hours.
  17. - Submitting, World's first drop tower without a drop. Although sitting still would probably be more fun than Submission.
  18. I've heard a lot of people singing the praises of smaller ARM towers over some of the bigger drop rides out there. I really didn't like Submission but I do hope they get some more flats to replace it. Personally I wish they'd bring Energizer back to that area. I loved it when I rode it in x-sector, although when they moved it to Ug-Land did they change it to a tamer cycle because whenever I re-rode it, it didn't seem to be as intense.
  19. I still remember the discussion on launches in the Uk, these are from the Alton Towers thread by the same user (I couldn't see it on here but apologies if some-one already posted these on this thread and I missed it)
  20. Weird, must be a new policy, I could keep mine on my ride 2 years ago although I wish i'd taken them off I had to hold my shoes together throughout the ride, it threw me around on one of the inversions and I thought for the first time ever i'd lose one.
  21. It'll be interesting to see if they go with the knock-off: http://www.china-sbl.com/eng/ProductInfo.aspx?m=20120801130251077488&n=20120905102152950616 or an original since that speed seems to match both models.
  22. I've got way too many games and just not enough time to finish them, I just finished Shadow Of The Colossus after I got it free of PS+ a few months back. I only just finished it because I also got Ico in that same month and decided i'd like to platinum it, getting that last trophy of completing the game in 2 hours took me forever to get past certain parts. I really really liked Shadow of the colossus but I think i've seen it so hyped in all the years that it couldn't live up to the impossible expectations in my head. However one of the other ps+ free games I downloaded a while back and just started is Okami. I had no idea how much i'd love everything about this game. Although I'm a year late to this game, I'm also playing Ni No Kuni since I was curious about this "studio ghibli" game (and my girlfriend had brought me the wizards edition). It's really fun but even with the tactics option I find my team-mates AI very frustrating when they burn up all their MP within a few normal fights even when I ask one to play healer. Thankfully a button to make them all defend finally unlocked before I ended up attempting to kill one of them. I'm also playing GTA V which was handed down to me. I'm on a bit of a RPG spree right now, the completionist in me likes to play all the games so I had avoided Kingdom Hearts since you needed so many consoles but with 1.5 out and 2.5 coming soon as well as having a 3DS I finally sat down to play them. I've always wanted to revisit the classical final fantasy and play all of them from 1-15 even though I realize they aren't linked in terms of story (excluding online games which I probably won't play, I think the only one I can't get on any of the systems I own is 12). I take them very slowly though I beat 1 a year ago and am gradually doing 2 on my iphone but it's a game for me that is really difficult to like, I keep forgetting the inn charges more when you have low HP and MP rather than a set price and no matter how much I grind and let enemies wear me down to boost my stats I never seem to have enough for good equipment. I have a huge back-log of series I want to play, again I like to be a completionist as much as I can so I wait until HD bundles show up, currently on my back list in terms of series are: Resident Evil series (although no idea how i'll play zero), Tales series (well maybe just symphonia when the ps3 bundle comes out, that was on of my first RPGs I ever played on my gamecube back home), Bioshock series, Uncharted series, god of war series and the batman arkham series.
  23. My girlfriend insists she wants to go to England next year after the wedding to see where I came from, I may have to time the trip around this. I don't have huge expectations but as a BTTF fan, i'm extremely curious to see how it turns out. I still wish I had been in the UK for the Princess Monoke theater show.
  24. Only ever got to ride the Japan version, did the American versions have some of the strange and wacky merchandise that Japan had like Mr Fusion underwear?
