Or Lotte World, it always amazes me they managed to fit a fairly decent sized rapids ride on the third floor indoors. -
Pretty much this, i'm grateful for all the coverage you do for everyone and the format is great but I really really enjoyed Rick and the new pro-slide models in the video last year and missed that this year as well as the rocky mountain in-depth interview (although as you guys said they give the same answers so I understand why you would skip it this year)

Lotte World also has the same practice though, right now Atlantis is down for a long rehab and French Revolution is down for 2 months. Both of their big coasters they took down at the same time. -

I live in Korea now and that is incorrect as of now the rides have a rehab schedule but they don't post it on the english website only on the korean one, all rides have a scheduled rehab from anywhere from 2 weeks to a month each year, for example for the last 3 years T-Express has always been down end of january/start of februrary for its yearly rehab for 2-3 weeks. The log ride and water rides always get there rehabs in winter as well and on my first ever visit there was a sign that the huss frisbee was down for a month. Lotte World and Everland are pretty much like any other 365 day park like disney or universal, they rotate what rides are down throughout the year. Edit: here is there rehab list you'll see some rides on there whose status of closed won't change for a week or two: http://www.everland.com/service/front/frontTime.do?method=holiday&siteCode=CT00101 -

The reason it is SBNO and not removed is probably money. Why spend the cash until you have something to put in its place or it becomes to much of an eye sore or safety issue. Plus for an open year round park with a daily firework show it would be a huge-undertaking to try and get a ride out like this that pretty much hugs the side of a mountain in darkness, no closed season and long opening hours would mean having to get the bigger construction machines and cranes in and out in such a short span of time each night. -
They installed a lot of new rides this year, not just the trackless dark ride. A disko outside named gyro-spin and a balloon movie with a ride system similar to niagara's fury. I was planning on going out to photograph and update soon but Atlantis is down for a refurbishment and the rumours are that it won't reopen until march, french revolution is also under refurbishment right now but i'm not so interested in that one. I may skip over the winter season this year (with their indoor section they are actually still quite busy on winter weekends) and wait and see what 2014 has in store.

Everland Discussion Thread
Garet replied to dr.gumbo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've posted photos, i've never known what to make of it since the area of eagles fortress has not been touched in many years so it's completely overgrown and rusted, everland seems quite fond of leaving rides in and putting memorials down for their rides and it would probably be quite expensive to remove eagles fortress off that steep hill when some of the trrack and especially supports and footers is almost buried by plants, trees grass etc. Lately Everland has been working on putting things inside buildings, with a pororo 4d cartoon, their 3rd chairlift and a hologram PSY show since gangnam style went huge. They finally did some huge land clearing and I had hoped this would be the new thrills they mentioned but it turned into a second safari ride with a land boat vehicle to complement their tiger bus safari. It was a huge investment for everland according to korean papers and i've seen 4 hour lines for it so I do wonder if it will be a while before the next big project. They have this sign up for the ride but i'm assured every-time I ask that the sign is incorrect This is the korean sign further down (been there for 2 years at least now) i've been pointed to and my g/f kindly translated being korean: Title: Eagles fortress shutting down dear customer 독수리요새 (eagle fortresses korean name), the most loved and first hanging coaster of korea is now shut down. Thank you for your love and care of it for the last 18 years. We will come back with a new attraction which has more thrills instead of eagles fortress. please give us your interest and support, thank you. Another memorial -

A TPR Japan 2013 Trip Report

The movie? If so, do yourself a favor and see it IMMEDIATELY. Seriously, drop whatever it is you are doing and go buy it. Now. I am a huge BTTF fan and I think my most memorable memory was just the insane Japanese souvenirs in the gift shop afterwards.... dot graphic character t-shirts and mr fusion underwear among other things. -

The Official TPR Update Thread!
Garet replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Couldn't find a facebook one but this is pretty much how I treat most videos or photos I see on facebook. Enjoy the videos/TR's but try to avoid the comments. TPR seems pretty good at bringing the hammer down on idiots but so many other park fb pages or videos make me want to bang my head against the computer when I see the things people write. -
The Official TPR Update Thread!
Garet replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've never been the biggest night-time show fan since it always seems so crowded in one area and then a mad rush by every-one to leave but i'd love to see more projection shows like in this TR. I'm always a big fan of fireworks since they are so easy to be seen all over the park. My favorite is still Everlands complete rip-off of fantasmic (but with more fireworks and fire) because the fireworks are so low that you're either amazed from underneath in the main area or it almost feels like you are level with the height of them when you watch from up on the hills. -

I'd be surprised if there wasn't some English parts somewhere, unlike Tokyo disney they seemed to have almost as much English shows as they did Chinese, although unlike when I rode Jaws in Japanese and found it awesome despite not understanding a word (seriously she had the highest pitched voice i'd ever heard right outside a Japanese cartoon right until the shark showed up when suddenly the terminator was coming out of her mouth) the English version of jungle cruise was really dull. The lady greeted everyone onto the boat and then spent the rest of the journey only looking forward and ignoring the guests with most comments being "on your left/right there are...." Kind of takes the fun out of the finale when you hear a flat voice saying "and now two river gods on the right". Granted it's not her first language and her English is better than my Chinese but I found the Cantonese version much more enjoyable, i didn't understand it but the skipper was laughing and had more emotion in his voice and made a good atmosphere on the boat (although the cast members did try and point out to me there was an English line when i joined the Cantonese line to board the boat and seemed a little confused why I wanted to try it in a language I didn't understand) -
Thank god this writer never saw BOM or else the show would have never made it out of dress rehearsals! I wonder how the vice writer would have dealt with the days of Monty Python and their jokes against pretty much everything.... probably the same way Graham Chapman's (who was also openly gay but wrote these sketches) character used to at the end of the sketches. Closest example I could think of in relation to what upset the writer over Bill&Ted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25Qhbdijv5Y

Universal Studios Singapore Discussion Thread
Garet replied to Adriel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There were tons of sinaporeans flooding a harry potter exhibition when I went to Singapore, If this did eventually go to Singapore, wouldn't this be only the second ride to have been built in all universals? I was trying to think what i've seen in all the parks but all that cam eto mind was Shrek 4D. -
But look at shows like south park and family guy that target pretty much anything, though there are controversies they seem to treat everything as fair game and pick on things equally and they can put out a show the next week because people will just nod and accept it because they know what type of show it is. Bill&Ted seems the same, everything is fair game meant for entertainment because they expect their visitors to know what type of show it is and it's being unfairly treated because someone saw it and expected something that it wasn't. The people who have seen the show and had no problems seeing them make fun of britney spears mental issues but suddenly think the show has crossed some line this time are really hypocritical, its like those people who will watch south park for years but then get upset at an episode of south park because it made fun of sexual harassment and they have been sexually harassed in the past but will happily have laughed at jokes at jews/gingers/ fat people etc. in the past. If we eliminate everything because one of the subjects might offend some-one TV would practically be empty. Bye-bye downton abbey you're stereotyping British people and as a British person that offends me. goodbye homeland, you made some Iranians look like terrorists and some Iranians don't like it etc etc.

Universal Studios Singapore Discussion Thread
Garet replied to Adriel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If it had to be dismantled to fix any structural problems but could be salvageable, I wonder if they would send it to Universal Studios Korea to become their headline attraction on opening and give the ride a new life as something different away from singapore (with a different theme perhaps), I could see it doing quite well over here. -
Yes, that's how it will work. Think of it like being the monorail from MK to Epcot. You need a ticket to get in. There is no monorail line that goes from the Magic Kingdom Park to EPCOT. But there are two lines that go from the Magic Kingdom Park to the Ticket & Transportation Center and then another separate monorail line that goes from the Ticket & Transportation to EPCOT and back. I think his post was meant more hypothetically than literally.

I feel like that all these articles that are supposed to condemn Bill&Ted are just giving it more publicity, I've never seen the movies and though always wanted to visit a HHN at one of the parks i've never really been interested in Bill&Ted since I don't think it's at either of the parks that's on the cheaper side for me to fly to (Japan &Singapore), the more articles I read and the more I chuckle at some of the jokes they point out from this years show (the thing about coreys ghost) or previous ones, makes me think I need to get out to Florida in a few years when i can afford it and check out the remaining show if it comes back.
