  1. Normally I label my photos 1.jpg 2.jpg etc when I upload to TPR but it wasn't recognizing that 2 came before 11 and was using the first number to put them in order, its my fault for being lazy and not using the filename_001 format but after i went back and put in 0s before the single digit numbered photos it seemed fine, I uploaded 4 posts of 25 photos to be safe, apart from that I had no problems: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=66201
  2. Final Part for a dueling coaster, this really wasn't overly exciting the blue version was better, I really wish I could have rode the red version before the vest style restraints were installed Despite waiting 5 minutes in the station between rides it was still leaving with empty seats I was starting to lose the light at this point but I wanted to get every angle Sunset was coming Before leaving the park I ran back to get a few shots of the merry go round my seat of choice was angry old lady with handbag Goodbye universal
  3. Part 3 A fun ride It had some water fire and a big boat, I rode it once but it wasn't something I was interested in riding I'd intended to hit battlestar next but the rapids had been down frequently earlier in the day, when I saw it was back running I ran to get a ride on it I didn't know they'd been building the park for that long! This animatronic was great snarling and snapping at anyone that got too near the cast member really sold it. I think the drop was more fun to watch than to ride, the building doesn't make a big impact like the baot versions do sploosh coming down the drop A fun ride that had one of the longest lines in the park (we had passes) We ended up backwards facing, I was quite suprised my girlfriend rode this she hates heights and even wasn't too fond of the dragon coaster A nice family flat ride and a themed climbing wall I saved the big roller-coasters for last
  4. Part 2: Loved this ride, since 0 loose articles could go on the ride this is the only picture I took Loved the theming of the ride Views from the Egyptian area I'll be heading here next My favorite unique ride Thankfully unlike Japan the waterworld fastpass was stamped on my ticket so it was impossible this time for me to not be able to find where to get a fast pass ticket, my girlfriend had never seen it so it gave me an excuse to go get the photos I missed when I last saw it Gangnam style still exists in the waterworld future I missed this shot last time I saw the show Welcome to shrek land Shreks house Sadly not a real bathroom Hey a disney castle insert bigger than disney castle joke here This wasn't really that interesting to me but my girlfriend really seemed to enjoy talking to a computer animation I think i've just got so used to Eddie Murphys voice it seemed really weird hearing someone attempting to do an Eddie Murphy voice. The rollercoaster for some reason was missing the baby dragons that should sit on top of the head. It was a fun little ride. Bye-bye shrek land and on to the new york section
  5. Last Korean thanksgiving I had a couple of days to travel, after debating Hong Kong or Singapore, I decided upon Singapore since I felt having only 1 day to do Hong Kong disney and ocean park. I'll be honest although I loved the park as a whole and both I and my girlfriend had a great day I realized as I edited the photos that all the rides I enjoyed at the park were the cloned rides from other parks, although I appreciate Universal making new versions and new rides, most of the unique rides I didn't enjoy that much or preferred the other versions of them. Transformers was amazing, my girlfriend normally hates rides that move fast or can give motion sickness but this was her favorite ride of the park (and mine), I took quite a few single rider rides on this because after 2 goes I remembered it was two floored and wanted to look for the elevators, I told my girlfriend later about them and she was shocked that it had changed floor. The ride ran seamlessly that she never noticed. I'm very glad some people had described it as spiderman 1.5 though, I think if i'd gone expecting a much different more advanced version I would have hyped it up too much in my head but it was great. I think I preferred spidermans finale when being pulled by the glider to transformers though. The Mummy was a ride I never got to experience in Orlando so i'm glad I got to experience it here, it was probably the ride I did the most after transformers. However the car ride in the egypt section turned out to be my favorite "unique ride" of singapore. Jurassic park was a ride I was really looking forward to since I love rapids but I came away a bit disappointed, I think it works better as a boat ride to be honest. Maybe my boat span too much but there didn't seem to be many dinosaurs or as many effects as when I rode the boat version in Japan. It just felt like an ordinary rapid ride with a dinosaur head poking out of a hole in a tunnel, then a spotlight to light up a shadow before you got to the elevators. Maybe it was broken the day I went but the T-Rex barely seemed to move just before the drop, I just think maybe I preferred the boat version since everyone is facing the same way and the boat goes slower you have more time to spot the details and the effects (maybe I just missed some because the raft had rotated or moved too fast. Madagascar just was really underwhelming, I almost would rather ride it's a small world, the animatronics just really didn't seem to do much and it just seemed dull. Even my girlfriend had no interest in a re-ride and she is a huge fan of the movies. Battlestar Galactica baffled me, Whereas transformers and the rapids had an hour line, the mummy had a 30 minute line and madagascar 20 minutes this ride was empty. Even running only a single train and having single rider, I had to sit on the train and wait for more people to come. I've been on terrible coasters in lesser known parks that have had a line so it shocked me one of singapores star attractions was so empty. I did both a front ride and back ride of both sides to test it out and honestly I may be in the minority here but I found the ride a little.....dull, which is never a ride I thought i'd use for a launching, dueling rollercoaster with two different types of rollercoaster. The red train had the vest style restraints installed and it held me in place so much that after the launch and drop I spent most of my rides looking out for the blue train and barely noticing the turns or drops that followed. The blue train was more fun and I did enjoy my front ride which was pretty smooth but when I sat in the back left seat, It decided to remind me it was a vekoma slc and my head got quite a banging. Lights, Camera, Action was ok but I think I preferred Backdraft but I'm just a fan of a lot of fire being used. After I dubbed Japans universal studios "Greatest hits universal", this one was dubbed "tropical universal" Po came out and waved to the crowds when the gates opened, I was kind of hoping for Japan style where every member of staff from the cleaners to the managers come out and line the street to wave at everyone before the character at the gate checks his imaginary watch and runs them off to their posts The actors were very hands-on here, I don't remember them being so hands-on in the other parks I visited but it was awesome I wish more parks could do this, he gripped quite securely and I just feel that if this was back home someone would complain about it, I can't remember the last time a scare-actor touched instead of just shouting (and yes I realize this isn't a scare actor but for the musical show) A covered dome like Japan although probably essential considering how it would randomly pour it down heavily for a while when we stayed in Singapore. Since most crowds were heading for transformers we went ahead since our express passes let us in through a less busy gate to get it in first while the rest of the people from the gates were running there. Despite the express passes my girlfriend made us use the usual line for our first ride to check out the stuff in the lines. Megatron Optimus And Jack Bauers friend It was a fantastic ride The costumes are amazing one minute i'm taking a picture of this car then it got up and walked around..... ....see! Stupid question considering the movies had a transformer with robot balls, but if the basis of the ride is your ride vehicle transforms into this robot with you still on it during the ride, why aren't there 8 seats on this robot? I don't remember him putting us down when we rode. We decided to sample the transformer drinks since you got to keep the cups. Onwards to our next area This sign sadly came out darker than I had planned MY EYES!!!! I cannot unsee this. Although the sign said no cameras I saw a lot of people riding with cameras, when I got on I was just told no flash so most pictures came out a little strange. This ride is really boring unless your a huge fan of half naked hippos using animals or other foliage to cover themselves up. I'm sure I saw this animatronic twice in the ride, maybe he's supposed to be narrating but I lost interest about 5 minutes into the ride. I forgot to take pictures of this ride so I ran back to get it at night.
  6. So the lawsuit news article is spouting baloney? Seems kind of weird they would claim that in a lawsuit if six flags has inspection papers that state otherwise but maybe it's the news article that is stating the wrong facts?
  7. Slow news day: http://travel.aol.co.uk/2013/09/08/dozens-stuck-alton-towers-ride-two-hours-60ft-breaks-down/
  8. Wikipedia is about as reliable as asking the guy on the dippin dots stand what is going to happen to the ride.
  9. ^ I actually still see the stand up cages at those olden-time style fairs where people go to show off their steam engines, those and those big old swings were each side pulled the rope to make it swing quite high.
  10. You always know you're about to read a good post when it starts out like this. Hey he's just making sure the dippin dots guy doesn't lose his job
  11. One of my favorite korean theme park bloggers (http://szsup.tistory.com/) recorded everlands new summer fireworks show, since I always mentioned it before how impressed I was with the night fireworks, they are so low and as you can see by the cameras of other guests you actually sit pretty close to the stage. Both parks seem to be doing a lot better in managing the summer crowds this year, although i'm still not fond of the multi-hour wait in the water parks (especially when the park is only running 2 slides out of 4 for half capacity), they have now started handing out paper wristbands with return times stamped on them for some of the slides but only when the slides wait time is over an hour. Lotte World have now added single rider to their swinging ship and there was a man who was pulling single-riders out of atlantis's line and putting them in the line with the fast passers to help fill seats, and Everland have now added fastpass to their log flumes but have also made it so now each member of the group has to be in line for all fast passes across the park 1 ticket to 1 person and signs stating it has to be that way (my main grumble with it last year was someone would run ahead with all the tickets to show they had 4 people but then would hand the park entry tickets to a friend who would claim more resulting in them being gone super early in the day, although I only saw this happen once or twice but at least now there are signs and people making sure no one is trying to claim multiple tickets). Although sadly the signs advertise that the fast passes for everland will only be running for july and august (despite the fact the rides do have multiple hour waits all year round) and the water parks was just for august, I really wish they'd take Lotte Worlds new policy of always running the fast passes even when the park is almost dead or at least on busy weekends, lotte worlds is disney style, of only being allowed one every hour or so, and its available on most rides as opposed to 2 or 3 in Everland which are ticket based and so you have to do a mad dash around the park at opening to grab one of each. on the weekend we went the fast pass we got from the log-flume from walking from opening at 10am was for 4:30-5:00 which was one of the last time slots. Sadly I found out after our visit for my birthday but it's handy to visit the information/guest services and show them id that proves your visiting on your birthday (although I believe up to 7 days after your birthday is also ok), you will get 4 free jump-the-line passes for any ride and 4 jump the line tickets for the old safari ride but not lost valley safari ride (since that ride is still pulling in up to 4 hour lines) and i'm told it is a free service by my korean girlfriend, i'm going to definitely check this out next year. Oh and also 4 tickets to feed some birds if you want to feed them. I'll try and get more information on this service next time I visit if anyone wants the information. After a visit to both this year, Lotte World has become my go-to park, it seems quite easy to fit in everything and get in re-rides but i've found everland on weekends i tend to find no lines with a nice waiting time by mid-day.
  12. ^ I think it was made pretty clear when Robb did the interview at IAAPA, they were not involved in it since he asked for their thoughts on the project:
  13. But magnetic braking force is directly proportional to the velocity of the vehicle (change in flux), so it's impossible for a train to be stopped by a magnetic brake unless the fins are made out of steel (steel is directly attracted to magnets), but the attraction to the magnets would be so strong that they would break off of the train, so manufacturers use copper plates instead to create an eddy current brake. The point is, you can't use magnetic brakes to stop a train if you then want to get it moving again, so you have to use a drive tire as the block brake. If the brake run was sloped though, wouldn't gravity do the job just as well as a drive tyre for getting it moving again?
  14. The video says: makes me think we could see the next announcement or two also being about the thanksgiving area. I wonder why they didn't mention pilgrims plunge in the video when talking about thanksgiving or even it being giraficca when it mentioned how since thanksgiving opened the focus has been on splashin' safari.
  15. I really enjoyed Takashiba's view, 1) you are pointing straight at mount fuji and 2) more importantly pointing away from Fuji Q.
  16. Or in my case just morbid curiosity to see how much the stories hold true..... so much so that an ATM ate my debit card so I had to have the full no fast pass experience of fuji-q.
  17. I am also part of the fuji-q kleenex club, the japanese riders were not impressed that I had to put it in a locker, Seriously i'd have been happier just to put it in a trash can but no I had to go find my locker.
  18. I like the name, but I'd rather it have been called Skyhawk. I guess they want to keep that exclusive to CP's S&S swing. Maybe they're just avoiding any names which have been associated with down-time this year
  19. Oh god I think I see the symptoms of Big Bad Wolf syndrome starting to spread over New Jersey....
  20. Sounds like it's technically a credit lol. Those who went to the announcement at the park got Q&A time (I valued my sleep too much to get up at 4:30am to get there for 6 for an announcement that ended up being pushed to 7:15). It's now sounding like a traditional coaster with extra theming and guns I went to view the brochure to see if it mentioned any track..... it wasn't as full of information as I hoped http://www.trio-tech.com/page/IDR.html At least the video gave me a rough idea of what the company's tracked dark ride is like
  21. I'm picturing either something like Lotte Worlds new XD cinema, where its been super-sized and shooting with the other people in the theater with the coaster track being on the screen like Lotte Worlds is mostly themed to a mine cart (I don't know how many other XD theaters got the guns apart from Lotte world's so if they changed it enough it could still be one of a kind) or a spiderman/transformers ride but with a shooting element built in perhaps to make it one of a kind, although in the hands of Cedar Fair, I dread to think how that would turn out: http://www.trio-tech.com/page/IDR.html
  22. Well Lotte World did remove theirs a few months ago although considering it's age I do wonder if they sold it anywhere or just sent it to the scrap pile. I wonder they went with the picture of a top spin for the press picture when they said 32 riders back to back, the video is the same except they also threw in another ride where the rides are facing each other as well as the top spin style seating (sorry don't know the rides names): http://content.sixflags.com/comingin2014/larondeen/demon/
  23. I can't decide which one sounds scarier falcons fury with 300ft facing the ground or this with the 400ft drop. Blue Fall took me an hour or two before I dared to ride it.
  24. After all the terms of hybrid and is it a woodie or not thrown around in the past , I find it quiet interesting that they went with Medusa steel coaster as opposed to Iron Medusa or something along those lines. I have no problems with it at all, I just find it interesting
  25. Hmm so looks like the choices are a bank holiday or a sunday, hopefully the crowds will be manageable to get the park done in a day still.
