  1. Looking at the app and other peoples blogs, weekdays the passes seem to be gone around 1pm but for weekends the passes have been gone pretty quick on the app and you might not even be able to make it to a kiosk on busy days to get them before they are gone. However it seems Atlantis became the next test subject due to floor construction in that area on Magic Island meaning there was almost 0 queue space while they redid the pavement fora month so with the test ending the same day as construction, fingers crossed we won't see it becoming a fast pass only ride again for a while.
  2. Sorry if this come across as rude or too personal, it's not meant that way and feel free not to answer, but as some-one who only lived in the U.K. with the N.H.S. before moving to Korea, how bad are medical costs when it is a long term emergency like this? I don't mean as a numerical figure, I mean is there any outside help from the government or is it things like this fundraiser that do most of the work? I just feel bad for people who don't have communities who could raise money like this one has. Sorry, I'm worried I'm not wording my question right and coming across rude. I remember some American friends who had their baby here in Korea and they said the birth and 2 week stay in the postpartum center would probably have been the same as just labor in the hospital back home for them and it was quite a culture shock for me.
  3. Sorry for the double post, some-one who knew I was a BTTF fan sent me this. Not sure how reliable this is but apparently the last BTTF will close May 31st: http://kotaku.com/the-back-to-the-future-ride-is-officially-dead-1768183479 Had to check the clock first and make sure they weren't playing an April Fools on me. Osaka is only a 2 hour flight away.... Not sure how my heavily pregnant wife would take it disappearing off to say goodbye. Maybe it'll have the 12 hour line on it's farewell day instead of TFD
  4. One for the Brits: http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-35934024 Ronnie Corbett aged 85.
  5. Do other countries cinemas have dynamic pricing? I don't just mean early morning specials or late night etc. They just started it out here in Korea so lots of little things change your price, weekdays have a lot of different priced time slots, Fridays and weekends are pretty all considered peak unless you go before 10am or after midnight and even which seat can alter your price between the "prime zone" "standard zone" and "economy zone." For a standard 2D the price changes aren't too much but when you look at things like IMAX, 4D etc it's a big jump.
  6. Saw it on Facebook with the reply from the official account and Austin's post above seems to confirm. For Facebook there doesn't seem anywhere near the amount of complaints about it now being all VR that I expected, so I guess the majority were interested in trying VR anyway.
  7. If we are talking dueling woodies (although I doubt it) maybe it could be like Stampida or Gwazi with a few head to head moments, because when everyone wishes for dueling woodies those are definitely top of the list.
  8. ^ Well I'm not sure how much the PR team know about Galactica right now, they just told some-one who complained they weren't allowed on Galactica with their Gold fastrack that it doesn't include Galactica...... except according to the official website (and screens in the park apparently) it is included and even on the silver: https://www.altontowers.com/theme-park/extras/fastrack/#fastrack-packages I thought maybe that AIR was automatically updated to Galactica across the site and someone forgot to remove it from the listings but the picture is even Galactica for the silver.... but then again the adventurer fastrack has a picture of Thirteen which isn't part of that pass.
  9. They are being quite vague with their twitter replies about it being to "ensure that all guests have the same fully interactive experience on the ride." and telling people to ask the staff (Galactinauts) about arranging a non-VR ride when a mother asked about her child and not giving a definite yes or no if it is possible when questioned further. This reply made me laugh when some-one asked if they would be turned away at the entrance if they wanted a non-VR ride. I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about Alton Towers entrance.
  10. Speaking of classics, I picked up Theme Hospital off GOG after feeling nostalgic.
  11. ^ Yea for a country where nearly all the additions have been aimed at all the family, there's a surprising lack of mid-range roller coasters, last roller-coasters for Lotte World was Atlantis in 2003 (and they have 0 kiddie roller-coasters, the lowest would be Comet Express and French Revolution at 120cm) and T Express for Everland in 2008 but with the removal of Eagle's Fortress, it's a big jump from the Vekoma roller-skater and a powered double helix to the Arrow looper in terms of what kids might be comfortable with.
  12. Pandaworld will open April 21st but soft opening will begin late next week. Here's something cool that I wish more parks would try out. They are letting people know the times when soft open will be in effect so it won't be a case of showing up and hoping it is open, I hope more parks try this for their soft openings and tech rehearsals.
  13. ^ I waited but nothing happened to the SFX pictures but the word image so I quoted the post and got the links that way, seems the website has an auto-bot check for some countries but thanks, if you hadn't replied I probably never would have checked again.
  14. I can't seem to see those pictures, is it a problem my end or were they removed?
  15. Sorry, I'm going to ruin the humorous replies with a serious comment. Honestly looking at those videos, if you have a guaranteed 7 express pass already, and if with what Gerstlaueringvar said is still true about backdrop having one train, which I see no reason why that would have changed, I'd probably head to backdrop first while everyone is preoccupied with running to TFD, and maybe a forwards ride after that, before heading over and then use my TFD fast pass because you never know what the Japan weather would be like and it'd suck to see it go down because of rain so that way you have all the big outdoor rides out of the way. I just see you being in a 4 hour line and then even with fast pass for a 2nd ride, half your day will be gone. The express pass exempts you from the timed entry to Harry Potter land which is nice since people will probably head there in the morning as well so you could maybe.... maybe, get a go on Space Fantasy (VR version will still be running) as well before that picks up too much. Jaws was really quiet in the evening when I went from 90 minutes to 5 minutes and so was Jurassic but I'll be honest for both of them I normally use the single rider line and it moves quite quickly. Does any-one know how fast the express line is with the 750 minute wait times? Not quite sure how many they are allocating with crowds and how swamped the lines are
  16. I dunno, that's the kids area (teacups and a giant disko style ride) and T2:3D which normally seems to be one of the shortest wait-times of the park. I don't think the lines would be that great elsewhere. Although, i do agree if comparing to Dinosaur's 12 and a half hour line, even a 2-3 hour line for Backdrop or Space Fantasy VR edition probably would seem quite nice.
  17. I wonder what options the park has though? I wonder if they would try out reservation only for this ride like the Korean parks have been trying recently (Atlantis is currently reservation only this month and T Express runs reservation with no standby until 3PM on and off depending on the season), not only is having people in a 12-hour line meaning they aren't spending elsewhere in the park, not to mention if you needed the bathroom! But I'm sure there are some families who can't physically make it to that end line point by 20 minutes after opening especially when you consider how many people will be lining up at the turnstiles. On my last trip I was at the park an hour before opening so was quite close to the gates for Japan standard when the park gates opened but the face-scanning for the annual passes was being slow and I definitely wouldn't have made that cut off.
  18. ^ I think like when Harry Potter opened, you will probably need to find a friend who speaks Japanese or find a Japan based tour agency who can reserve fast passes ahead of time online to ride this thing especially with Flying Dinosaur being on one of the 3 fast pass options for the 7 set, hotel guests can also get them earlier I think from reception on the day than normal guests,I bet most of them will be gone before ticket booths even open an hour before the park opens. Edt: Found a retweet on the made in USJ twitter feed with an even higher wait, 750 minutes regular at opening and 250 for single rider. Source Edit 2: Seems they have to close the standby line 20 minutes after opening at 8.20am, translation makes it sound like the line stretches all the way back to BTTF area so with crowds I reckon if you go to the Jurassic area direct and get detoured you may not make it in time to the end of the line the other side before cut-off, better to go around the lake as if heading towards Spiderman: Source
  19. Exactly, I know I bring this point up a lot but look at the Korean parks, they've all had family additions and smaller rides here and there but their last big coasters were 2003 for Lotte World with Atlantis and 2008 with T Express for Everland. Granted they are year round parks which up the attendance but they only have 2 big coasters each and their attendance generally still increases each year. (this year may see a decrease due to MER's though)
  20. It's fun but nothing too sensational, it's mostly Korean percussion but we all really enjoyed it. There's 3 theaters for it here in Seoul and quite a lot of showings, especially on Saturday's so it's not too hard to get tickets, we went for the cheapest ones on the balcony in Myeongdong and the view was fine it was about 28 dollars with a discount they had.
  21. Looking at facebook (and after a hot shower to scrub it off) it seems Thorpe Park are asking people to email 12p@thorpe-park.co.uk about what happened. Seems a lot of people emailed expecting some kind of voucher or discount and PR have made people more annoyed by then sending a stock email reply. Why wouldn't they just post this directly on their page instead of making people write an email in to get this response? Maybe they just want a laugh at poorly worded angry emails from Facebook commenters?
  22. Even super safety conscious Japan has height restrictions for their full coasters that match this "family one." Looking at Disney following Robbs example, the highest I saw was 117cm for Raging Spirits (and Journey with all it's speed and that nice pop at the end), looking elsewhere, even Kawasemi a air time filled mega-lite and Regina a full sized intamin woodie are only 120cm height restrictions so only 1" higher than 46".
  23. Seeing the TR reminded me I recently saw Nanta, one of Korea's permanent performances.
  24. Opening day for Galactica, heard the VR is making dispatch quite slow, it's opening week so the crew probably need time to adjust and hopefully the pace will pick up, i'm seeing a 90 minute queue right now on the site, with Nemesis, SW and Smiler at 45 mins.
  25. ^Can't believe the difference from this post and checking in on the fundraiser after work. Past the 21,000 mark! People are amazing.
