I thought it was "okay" when the ads first came out the year and a half ago or so, but now they're just ramming it further into the ground with each new spin on it. Sure, the old dude (any doubt as to whether it's really a senior citizen or not?) can boogie quite impressively, but.......then what? They pull the bus out from behind Batman and take the tarp off to film a commercial in the parking lot on a midweek off season day with a bunch of kids and other people seizing in time with the seizure meister Mr. Six leading them the whole way........even the one with the bus on the midway was better. I've never understood the idea behind why he's jumping around and stuff, the adoption of the "It's Play Time" phrase to every bit of employee garments (yes, it's even on the inside of our pants for some reason  ), or how it should draw people into the parks........missed me with that one. Oh well, I guess I can always get the cheap thrill of saying "It's play time, in my PANTS!" Meh, sounded better in my head I guess........

Dang man, you look like a freakin' lobster or something, how long were you out there for? I conked out at my grandma's house while house sitting for half an hour around 2pm, ran inside and watched the color changing begin. Man did that suck, and painful too. Anyway, glad to hear you're okay, hope the hot tub will turn out good too.

I have no doubt there'll be soft openings, they have to. It's like when Scream! was "done" for the most part and they had a promo shoot day. As an employee, I was able to take my brother and ride it as many times as we wanted, but never got interviewed by the camera crew that was standing on the exit side of the station. Got to ride it about 7 or 8 times though, and helped myself to the free sodas and chips. I'm all but certain that they'll do this for the new ride too, I'm kinda counting on riding it for a promo shoot too. -
Don't know about by Dennis, but it was 105* here today.....screw the hot tub, I want a swimming pool!

Well, I talked to them last night and didn't say anything about that, but that sounds pretty bad. I always knew there was the possiblility of that happening, but thought it was more likely to have the vehicle flip over (come darn near close in high winds). What I don't get is why S&S went with cables and flexy towers instead of just going with a solid "Supreme Scream" type design, it'd be so much easier and quite a bit stronger too, I'd bet, but they went the other way...... :? As it is, Thrill Shot seems to go down a lot anyway, the mechanics are kept busy with it's hourly computer freak outs, and monthly tower welding....few "interesting" stories I've got from that last one. By the way, all the mechanics I have asked about the new coaster possible being a B&M Flyer, have confirmed it. In all the answers I got, not once was a different type mentioned, they have all said the same thing. -
Very true!

Hmmm.......that Orient thing is weird, haven't talked to anyone about that in a while though. Did manage to chat with a couple mechanics about the coaster thing though..... B&M Flyer? CONFIRMED!!! They didn't know a whole bunch more than that, but Six Flags is most likely shooting for opening it in Spring '06. I asked why it seems they are starting what seems to be so early, and asked if it could be to avoid snags along the way, and they replied that there's always going to be things that get in the way or are bugs to work out, and starting early is a good idea to try to eliminate (or at least troubleshoot) them. Also, in another odd bit of info, Thrill Shot will be making a comeback in as soon as a month......they won't really start working on it until the park goes to the off season though. Oh well, I always loved working at that ride, yay for Thrill Shot! Ah, the memories are coming back already....... -

My grandma has a 1982 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel that fears no speed bump, that car rides as high as some trucks, and cruises over speed bumps with ease.........love that thing! As for crap I hate, the list is endless.......downright STUPID questions from guests has to top the list. -

I gotta hit up the ops. over by Revolution again, I just gotta know! -
Between 6'3" and 6'4".......so maybe 6' 3.5"? Meh, I know I'm always right at the height limit on Deja Vu, but slump or walk through the gates too quick for them to check. I also gots friends there, so they don't care as long as I sit on the outside seats, those middle ones would kinda creep me out anyway........I've heard stories. I don't care if they're true or not, but I'll always ride in the outside seats.

I rode the one at Knott's, it was okay, but I don't think I'd blow another $5 on it. Besides, Dive Devil at SFMM blows away just about anything else, and Thrill Shot was scarier than the "Swing".

Let me know when you go, it'd be cool to meet another TPR member! -
Billy Crystal as Miracle Max was hilarious, "Get back, witch!" Wallace Shawn was also great as the Sicilian, especially the battle of wits with the Man in Black. The movie was corny in places and didn't quite follow the book, but is still great to see every few years.

Guys, feel free to let me know when you're stopping by and I'll try to get you on the rides I have friends at, just shoot me a PM if interested. As for the new ride, I doubt it's a Kingda Ka type one, but that would seriously ROCK! I'm still gonna stick with the B&M Flyer, that's what a mechanic who'd seen the design told me. I'll be happy when they start working on Thrill Shot and open that sucker back up, man do I miss that thing! There's a chance I could also be a lead over there, muwahahaha! -

Yes........pics in thread updates, that's it. I think I could have picked you out too, well, maybe........if you showed up before midnight when I was about to pass out from being so tired. -
Holy crap is that hilarious! You'd think they'd take the time to clean that crud off though......

Rocko's Modern Life from back in the day on Nikelodeon. Filburt goes to a chinese restaurant and they show the guy at the factory in front of a typewriter making up happy fortunes, then he plunks down that one. Filburt gets upset because of it, buys a massive bag of fourtune cookies to try and get a better one, but they all wind up being that same one.......it was great. Still got all that memorized from one of the best shows EVER!!! Oh, and I would have posted it too, it's my favorite thing to recite when I have a fourtune cookie's paper in my fingers.......throws everyone but those who know for a loop. Only thing is, I remember it as "Bad luck and misfourtune will rule your pathetic soul for all eternity"......google didn't help much either.

Celebrities and Athletes you've met...
4718 replied to SixFlagsTexas's topic in Random, Random, Random
I've mainly seen smaller stars at work, but they've all been really cool. The two coolest had to be the guys that play "Greg" and "Warrick" from CSI. I met "Greg" at Thrill Shot when the show was only 6 mos. old and his real name is Eric and didn't mind the bit of a wait because a kid didn't want to ride, "Warrick" was at Brookstone by the mall out here (real name is Gary) and was super nice.........and thought it was cool that I worked at Six Flags. Hallie Berry and Eric Benet (when they were still married) went on Go Karts together, he was nice and asked me how it was going while they were stopped to fix a spinout, and remembered me when he came back (alone) a month later.......she tried to use her fame to get on Go Karts for free. Jimmy Fallon loved Thrill Shot, but chickened out of Dive Devil for some reason. Sean Whalen from Twister was very nice, and I didn't even notice him until he was getting off the ride.......we made a new hire ask him what his name was though. William Fitchner was a great guy to be with, and only after he left did I realize why he looked a bit familiar........d'oh! Jim Carrey always rents the park for a night in the Fall for his birthday, all sorts of celebs show up for it.......I've yet to work one of those though.
