Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Ouch. I would have thought that they would have let him in after talking to the guy's parents. I guess they're making sure it doesn't look like they have double standards. GOOD! I'm glad to hear they are actually enforcing their "no line jumping" policy. IMO, you just can't do this. If you see a line is an hour, pee before you get in line! While I can appreciate the whole idea behind "well, what if I don't have to pee before I get in line and then all of a sudden...EMERGENCY!" Well, the security guard isn't going to know if the kid just got out of line and is going back in. The security guard shouldn't *HAVE* to know that. It should be a blanket policy that is always enforced - You get it line. You stay there until you ride. If you leave, you get back at the end of the line again. You don't hold someone's spot. You don't leave and come back. You get in line and stay there. My biggest pet peeve about line jumpers is when you get in a line, and about 5 minutes into it someone's friend, who may be only like 50 people back is trying to cut in. "Oh, can you just let my friend right there come up with us, she was just getting a drink." My response is always the same... "Why don't you go BACK there to her? It's really not that far. I managed to get my entire party together before we got in line. Either you do the same or you go back to where your friend is. And why didn't you just wait for her to get a drink before getting in line? Is she not that good of a friend that you couldn't wait 5 minutes for her to get a drink? Just go back there. It's not that far." And of course, it's always *MY* fault for not letting that person cut, and these people never take any personal responsibility that they are actually asking you to allow someone to cut in line and I'm the asshole because I won't let them in. *sigh* This reminds me of a time in 2002 when we were at a SFMM enthusiast event right after Deja Vu opened. Elissa and I were riding Riddler's for ERT and as soon as the park opened, we BOOKED it over to Deja Vu. There was one other guy standing there and Elissa and I came up behind him. We thought "kick ass! We'll get one of the 4 front seats." This kid (couldn't have been more than 12 or 13) turned out to be a fellow coaster enthusiast and actually knew who Elissa and I were. We talked with him for a while, the line grew a bit longer, and then a bunch of other kids came up, stood by the first kid and started chatting. We realized, they just cut in front us! Elissa was all "Excuse, what are you doing?" And one of the new kids was all "getting in line." "Not in front of US you're not!" And the first kid was all "Are you kidding? I thought you guys were cool." And Elissa's response "We *ARE* cool, but were still not going to let your friends cut in line and get our front seat ride (they had no prefered seating on Vu at this time) after we booked it over from Riddler's and have been standing here for the past 30 minutes waiting for the ride to open. Back of the line guys." They whispered in each others ears and then they all decided to go to the back of the line. Huffed and puffed and pouted and they left. We then heard later from other people how "We kicked a bunch of kids out of line at Deja Vu!" WTF? How were we the bad guys in this scenario??? So this is what they are teaching kids? Cut in line in front of adults, and when you get told off, create a story about it that makes you look abused? *sigh* Ok, done with line jumper stories! Anyway, I'm happy to see they enforced this policy. They should be! --Robb -

^ This is correct. I have already talked the park about this. They will want us to watch the pre-show once, and then during re-rides we can go through the rooms without having to watch the pre-show. --Robb -

This was my #1 comment after I took my first ride. "Those uncovered speakers are going to get trashed." I was told those speakers would be covered but apparently they haven't been. I've also heard of tagging in the queue already on all that nice theming. Hopefully they'll get some kind of barriers or something put up so people can't get their paws on it. --Robb "It's really sad, but not surprising that people would do this..." Alvey -
Any SFMM flash pass reviews yet?
robbalvey replied to TriboElectric's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not that I have seen at SFMM. Keep in mind the idea of Flash Pass isn't new to SFMM, just the Q-Bot system. So guests at the park have been used to seeing these types of systems in place for YEARS. Disneyland has Fast Pass, Universal has Gate A passes, Sea World has Quick Queue, and Magic has had Flash Pass since the old Fast Lane days. I think most So Cal theme park goers understand what these systems are now. --Robb -
^ We are actually looking into the idea of doing a summer Japan trip to make it more "school year friendly." I will say thought that one of the reasons why we go when we normally do is that the parks are *EMPTY* (as I'm sure you've seen in many trip reports.) Doing a summer trip would mean much busier parks and we probably couldn't pack as many parks in. On the flip side, you're in Japan...and that's almost awesome enough as it is! --Robb

And I really wish that Cedar Fair would offer this. It pains me every time we take a TPR tour to a Cedar Fair park that we have to either spend an unnecessary amount of extra time at each park or have to tell our group to prepare to do less at each park because there is no quicker way to get through the queues. We easily get TWICE as much done at parks that offer a "Flash Pass" type option than ones that don't. --Robb -

^ Right. And I agree. My point is that even your more expensive Busch pass is a better deal than most of the other entertainment offerings out there. $86 for one round of golf, go-karts, and cardboard pizza is such a horrible deal compared to Six Flags, Busch, or a Disney pass.... and that place is PACKED every weekend! --Robb "Read my previous post if you don't get the reference..." This is the mentality I don't understand. Sporting events, movies, and Disney parks are *MUCH* more expensive for what you get and the length of entertainment offered and those all seem to be well affordable for families. As much as getting a season pass to Great America for a family of four may be expensive, have you seen the prices for a season passes to Disneyland here in California? All of a sudden a combo season pass for SFMM + SFHH (remember they are both seperate admission parks here with seperate season passes) looks like a GREAT deal! Here is an example - at our local movie theater, if a family of four wanted to go see "Up" today at 5pm, it would cost them $43 just to get into the theater, and that's not including sodas and popcorn for all of them. So for a 2 hour experience you're looking at spending about $65, and that's a "one-off" price. There is no "season pass" that will allow me to come back and see every movie this summer. And I certainly know families that go to see at LEAST 10 movies per year. Have you ever been to a place like Chuck E Cheese, Mini-Golf, Scooters Jungle, or any other local family destination? At our local "mini-golf" place, you can get a family of four combo ticket which is $86 and that gets you one round of Go Karts, Mini-Golf, and 2 slices of pizza.... **EIGHTY SIX** DOLLARS!!! And that's got to be, what, 90 minutes of entertainment at the MOST? And god forbid you want to play a few games in the arcade while you're there...you're looking at about $100 for a coulpe of hours! Once again, I see theme park season passes to be a GREAT deal over the other entertainment options that are out there. --Robb "This is why we go to theme parks and don't go to movies..."
