Guys, remember, this thread is about the contest. I'm sure we have other threads to discuss GL, Cedar Fair's corporate practices, etc. This is supposed to be about having some fun! And of course this reminds me of a photo I took recently... Dick Kinzel's new residential housing development in Florida.

^ But Gold Rusher has a height restriction of 48". That's totally ridiculous! "Hey son, you're tall enough now for... Gold Rusher, X2, Terminator Salvation The Ride, Superman, and Goliath..." Gold Rusher *should* be 42" or at very most 44". I can't think of another Arrow mine train (or many other mine trains at all for that matter) that isn't. Oh, wait, yes I can...Jaguar. Which is totally stupid for other reasons that I don't even want to go into now. Big Thunder Mountain is 40" ...Heck, Hersheypark's Arrow Mine Train is 36"! Gold Rusher is absolutely a "family coaster", and it's a great one too... it's just too bad that by the time everyone in the family is tall enough for it, they've moved on...probably because they've been riding Big Thunder Mountain for the last 4 years and are ready for something bigger. Why do you think Gold Rusher's station is always empty and Big Thunder Mountain has a line? Because one ride targets the correct audience while the other one doesn't. The people who want to ride Gold Rusher can't, and those who can no longer care. I can't wait to take KidTums on Big Thunder Mountain and by the time she's tall enough to ride Gold Rusher she really care because she'll have ridden plenty of other 42" - 44" inch coasters that are far more thrilling and interesting in that time. Think about it, even if you compare just California's rides by the time she's tall enough for Gold Rusher she'll have ridden Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, Indiana Jones, Matterhorn, Mulholland Madness, Sierra Sidewinder, Technic Test Track, The Grizzly, Ninja, and bunch of other kiddie coasters. Do you think when she's finally 48" Gold Rusher is going to excite her? Oh, of course she'll get the "credit" on it, but other than that? Why bother. It's a real shame. Because it really could be a good ride for families too... Here's an idea for Magic Mountain, spend the money to make the modifications it would require to make Gold Rusher a 42" height restriction ride and re-market it as "Renovating Magic Mountain's History so the whole family can enjoy it." I mean, it's Six Flags Magic Mountain's first ever roller coaster. Give it some love and attention that it absolutely deserves! I think your "family audience" would really appreciate that too. --Robb "Done with my Gold Rusher rant now..." Alvey

^ TPR has always has different level of "donkey titles." No idea what you are talking about.
-
The TPR forum has an automatic title change when you reach certain milestones on your post count. When you see a slightly different "donkey title" it means you posted a lot more! The title fairly wouldn't make up such silly titles.

Where are the Disney Special Offers?
robbalvey replied to voodoobones's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I always see some great deals for Walt Disney World, but I don't recall too many for Disneyland, other than the 2fer ticket they offer So Cal residents. However, since I live here I'm also not looking for Disneyland vacation deals so maybe I've just missed them. What kind of deals did they used to offer? What it anything like the WDW "buy 4 days, get 3 free" deal? --Robb -
Always great to hear from our lurkers! Hopefully we'll see many of you posting on a regular basis! --Robb

TPR's "Coaster Footage" DVDs Being Retired
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Awesome! 1. I'm really glad you liked the 'box sets' that we did! 2. I've included some crap in every order of the box sets. 3. I've always wondered "When someone orders multiple volumes of our DVDs, which one do they watch first?" So you'll have to tell me once you decide! --Robb -
I still have people who I work with that have season passes to the park that SWEAR Teminator and Psyclone are the same ride but with new trains, fire, and audio. They told me "It's the same thing they did with X." I even showed them the pictures of Psyclone being ripped apart, but they still think it's the same damn ride! --Robb

I would hope that the height restriction would be 35" since that's the height restriction of the Roller Skater across town at Disneyland. If Magic Mountain is going to install a family friendly coaster you would think that it would have the same restrictions as the exact same ride at a local competing family friendly park. I can just see it now... "What do you mean my daughter is too short? She just rode this exact same ride yesterday at Disneyland!" --Robb

An Upgraded TPR Forum Coming Soon!
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One thing I should have been more clear about - The search index hasn't been built entirely yet. We are more looking for php errors or something that didn't look correct. We know that not many items will come up because rebuilding the search index takes hours and it puts a lot of stress on the server. So we figured we'll only re-build it cpmpletely once we're ready to go live. Search should still work, but it won't produce as many results as the current forum. --Robb -
An Upgraded TPR Forum Coming Soon!
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey everyone! We are really close to launching the new forum, but I still feel we haven't done enough testing with some areas of it. For example, could everyone try to do things like: - Register a new screen name - Use the search function - Go into the chat room - Browse and modify your user profile settings - Add calendar events and browse them in day, month, and week view - Use the forum statistics - Send a private message (send one to me!) - Send an email to someone (send one to me!) - Attach different types of files (photos, videos, zip files, mp3 files, documents, etc) We need as much help as we can testing before this can go live. Thank you all for your help! --Robb -
^ A donkey fairy??? I'm not sure. What have you seen recently?

Legoland Florida Discussion Thread

I had thought that the old safari park was essentially wiped clean and then the land re-purposed as Legoland Windsor. -
Club TPR's Final Membership Card Design
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Time to unstick this.... A couple of comments - We are hoping that everything will be in place to roll out Club TPR in early March. We have had some great feedback from parks all over the world. I think many people will be pleasantly surprised by the amount of discounts and perks we will be able to get from parks all across the USA and in Europe. Secondly - did you guys like this kind of a photoshop contest and would you like to see other similar ones for things such as event logos or website re-designs? Thank you to everyone who participated! --Robb
