  1. ^^ Scott...totally agree. I cannot see how this could fail...but I worry that it might not live up to the other Legoland parks. --Robb "Trying to be optimistic though, because I *LOVE* Legoland!" Alvey
  2. While I have to...I want to believe that Merlin/Legoland will not make the same amazing epic fail mistakes that Hard Rock Park made...I have to say I agree with you. At least until I'm seeing more that makes me think otherwise. But this whole "let's save the woodies...let's save the gardens....let's save the water ski show..." none of that says "Legoland" to me. Yup.
  3. I'm not sure what you mean by this. There is no set date, but probably sometime in Feb. We want to get a few more bugs worked out, then we'll switch over, and then probably have a lot more bugs to work out! Our goal is to keep it as close to the current forum as possible. --Robb
  4. ^ Please don't bump this thread every time you update it. Just edit your original post. Thank you! --Robb
  5. ^ It is. And I can see them "Legoing Up" the Flying Island and that fitting into Legoland before I can see a woodie fitting in...let alone TWO woodies. I mean, maybe if they did an entire Lego boardwalk or something? --Robb
  6. EXACTLY! QFT! Starliner isn't going to bring them any more people, and if it was gone, the only people who be bitching is the "Out of state roller coaster weirdos" (quoted from The Simpsons!) Clearly not enough people cared about Starliner's historic nature to save Cypress Gardens in the first place. Maybe they should have tried saving a GOOD wooden coaster that people would have gone out of their way for to ride again? Hmmm.... Seriously, Starliner was one of those "ride it once...oh, it was mediocre... good thing I got the credit before the park closes because I don't need to ever come back here..." woodies. I'm a little worried about the news I keep hearing that "they are going to keep the gardens...they may keep Starliner." Has Legoland ever had to re-purpose an already existing park into a Legoland? I would hate to see the "Largest Legoland in the World" in arguabley the most visited theme park sector in the world become the red-headed stepchild of the parks chain because they weren't able to start from scratch. I'm trying to think positively here and that the team behind the park will make it all work, but their previous success has been having a blank sheet of paper to work from. This one is going to present a new challenge to them...and they have to do it all in less than two years? That's not going to be an easy task. If Legoland ends up being a success in Florida, one thing I can tell you for certain it WILL NOT be because of Starliner! --Robb "It will be because of the Legos." Alvey
  7. ^ Yes, actually! As of last night I have 20 out of 23 segments done for Volume 13! Expect an official announcement about it's release in the next week! --Robb
  8. ^ But isn't Great Adventure from Dorney about the same distance from SFMM from Knott's and they had an Intamin 1st gen Freefall for about 20ish years. --Robb
  9. ^ Well said. I couldn't agree more. When I worked for the parks we always had groups that weren't always the customers you were happiest to see, but the fact that they bring in money to your establishment means you should at least show them some amount of respect, even if they don't seem to respect you. They are keeping your employed. --Robb

  11. ^ I agree. If they can pull it off to make it fit, it would be cool. That being said, I still think that Starliner does not fit in with their brand and IMO if they were to keep either woodie it should be Triple Hurricane. --Robb
  12. I would rather see them not keep Starliner, and to be honest, I'd rather not see them keep either woodie. I'm not convinced it fits the image of their parks. Now granted that may just be because none of the other parks have a woodie and I can't vision how it would be themed to Lego. But I would agree with Reed that if they were to remove one of them it should be Starliner since it doesn't fit in with the family rides brand. In all of Legoland California they have two rides with a height restriction of 42" and everything else is between 36" - 40" with many rides not having a height restriction at all. This is the same for the other Legoland's as well. Starliner just doesn't fit into that model. And, let's be honest, Starliner was a really mediocre woodie. I don't care if it's "historic" or not. That coaster was lame when it was at Miracle Strip and it was lame at Cypress Gardens. Not that I'm hoping it gets torn down, mind you, but I don't see it as being a major loss if it was. And how historic was it really? Wasn't the installation at Cypress Gardens pretty much built from scratch just three years ago? --Robb "If they can really make a woodie fit into Legoland, I'm all for it, but if not, I feel they should both be removed." Alvey
  13. FAIL! No visit to Epcot is complete without IllumiGaytions! Thanks for posting all the pics! --Robb
  14. Ugh. I hate it when people say this. It displays such a lack of knowledge of the amusement park business. If I park wants to build something bad enough, they will find the room. Blackpool is a perfect example of this. So is Knott's Berry Farm. For YEARS people kept saying how "land locked" Knott's was and how they have NO ROOM at all to expand. They've built 5 coasters in 11 years...and added an entire water park. --Robb
  15. Much better! It might even still be a bit too tall, but it's much better than it was.
  16. I think just getting the new calendar as close to the old one in terms of design and look will help a lot. As far as I'm aware, no one seems to have an issue with the current calendar (do they?)
  17. Here is the latest construction showing off some of the building theming... And here they are having a bit of fun in the snow!
  18. ^ The annoucement box is something we're testing out right now. It's purpose is to replace the "Roller Coasters in the RAW 4...." type of things you see at the top of this forum, and also make them a bit more visible. I do agree it's a little big. In fact the box shouldn't be any bigger than the blue header and the one line of text that's inside of it. Hanno?
  19. I have no idea how easy the template for the calandar is to edit, but is it possible to do something more streamlined like this example (doesn't have to be exactly this example, but you get the idea...) Something like this saves us 30 pixels in height. AFTER BEFORE
  20. ^ I'm indifferent to the color, but what everyone else likes is fine. On another calendar note, though, I think making the "day" box and the "week of" box and text smaller might actually help some of the issues with it being too big or obstructive. Those two areas take up about 1/2 of the space the current calendar does now. Reducing the size of it overall in height would probably be a very good thing. --Robb
  21. ^ Not overlooked, but if it's available, we'll set it to on because I do also like this feature on other forums.
  22. ^ Understood. Yeah, I think it actually might be a browser related issue.
  23. ^ Shhhh! Don't tell anyone! Or everyone will want the white box too! --Robb
