The Official TPR 2010 Trips Thread
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Please try reading the FAQ on PAGE ONE of this thread. Your question was already answered: -
^ Looks like it says: CLUB TPR to me... Going off my original concept that I posted on page 1 in the crappy logo: You can see that TPR is the main draw and "club" is the addition. If anything, people entering this contest should be looking at the original concept art we posted and assume "That's what Robb & Elissa wants." Granted, you are all free to interpret that as you see fit, which has produced some amazing results. but a GIANT CLUB and a small TPR is not what we are looking for. Also, the word "Club" in that image above reads as "OIUB" to me. --Robb

^ We have thought about - Basic/Gold/Platinum or something like what the airlines do for their frequent flyer program. To be honest the biggest challenge is that Elissa and I are only two people and we have a lot to do. Keeping things simple has been a great way to help keep us sane (well as sane as insane people can be!) over the years. --Robb

You can see why this is a concern. Looking at some of the real name of our members, especially international ones, we have quite a few people who have first names 12 to 15 characters long, and last names 15 to 20 characters long. Granted, that's the exception, and most people have, well, "normal" length names, but I don't want to get into a situation where even 1 in 50 I have to put an abbreviation for their name because we don't have enough character spaces for them. --Robb

Here are my current favorites: #1: And I like the version with n7's original Club font with Gumball's car above the T. I'm cool with either version using the photo or the graphic art. I might lean *slightly* towards the graphic art because it seems a little less "coaster club" to me. #2: #3: With some good runners-up: As for the runners up, I noted these because I feel they all have either good graphic elements, layout, or design sense. While they may not be something we would go with as is, I feel that we may incorporate some of these elements into either our final logo/card or another project we may be doing in the near future. Great job everyone! Keep them coming!!! --Robb

And I probably should have made it a bit more clear that I'm not really looking for the actual words "Location" or "Member Name" to be there, but more the text that goes along with them. Either way, if someone presents a design that looks good, we can just simply tell them to remove those items. Some of the designs that simply have #000069 for the member number is prefectly fine. And yeah, it's clear to me when someone just writes: Joey Mandel "Jew" That's name and nick-name, basically. I think the only one that is probably "required" is: Expires: June 2011 And I think we probably will go with just month/date and spell out the month so it's not confusing for our international members. --Robb

I'd really like to know why the Gadzoox font is such a big "obstacle." Other than it not having a lower-case option I have had zero problems using it for videos, titles, T-Shirts, or any other graphic design work we have done since we started using it about 10 years ago. What is the problem with it? --Robb

Wow, this just keeps getting better and better! I'm just going to post my current favorites! What a great, GREAT way to combine two peices of art! Love it! Although I prefer n7's font for "Club" over Gumball's. Wow! This one is great right at the start! Not a huge fan of the bars above the TPR logo, but I don't hate them either. Love the logo otherwise. Not keen on the "champion" dude in the shadows. But this one is great! Would love to see another version of it. And I still think that Gumball's first attempt is still my favorite of his. A couple of other notes - we won't do a vertical card, so no need to keep on that path. It is very possible that we will end up using elements from a couple of different designs to create the final card. --Robb "Yes, it's possible we will have more than 1 winner." Alvey

Do you think Moonsault Scramble would have been better.... [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=MoonsaultPOV_1[/coastertube] On the moon? -
Comments, comments, comments.... ILoveRides - The logo is a lot of fun! Very whimsical! I'm not sure it would be right for the membership card or our Club logo, but I actually think we would use it, or maybe something you could come up with for a future project we have going on. lightguy84 - That logo is only 4 Flags! Just kidding. Fun logo, same thing as above, not sure if it's right for this, but it's a great idea. The card is very difficult to read, IMO. Angry_Gumball - There is something about your designs where I've actually liked every one you've submitted, but I feel there is something "missing" from all of them and I honestly can't quite figure out what it is. There are absolutely elements from your designs that I think we would want to incorporate into a final design. I think I've liked your #1 and #4 attempts the best. n7 - Not a fan of the yellow one, even though it's kind of "fun", for example the "chunks of black" under the logo have kind of a cool mosaic look to it almost! I like the name split on the other one. That's very functional. RCFreak - The concept is a lot of fun. Very close to what I originally had in mind when I did my mock up. Like someone took a rubber stamp to our logo. I can tell you're new to photoshop but that's not a bad thing. Keep at it. Thanks again everyone! I do want to make sure that you all know that part of why we were doing this is to find out who might be skilled enough to help us with a number of different projects. We have everything from T-Shirt designs, logos for trips, site layout help, etc, that we may need people for in the future. So it's kind of like American Idol where we may have one winner, but a bunch of contestants get record contracts! Keep at it! I'm really liking what I'm seeing! --Robb "Hope you guys are having fun with this too!" Alvey

Where the hell am I in themeparkworld?
robbalvey replied to TBo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A couple of notes - You need to read our ToS and posting rules about links: Secondly, why don't you upload your videos to CoasterTube? Then you wouldn't be violating our ToS on your first post! --Robb
