  1. ^ Glad you had a good time!
  2. So in British legal terms, what exactly does this mean? Who exactly are they going to "prosecute?" The park? The head of operations? Who actually goes to jail (if anyone) if they follow through with this?
  3. We having been discussing the idea of going back Spring 2018.
  4. Here's the video that David sent us: And I'll re-post some of his photos again in case you might have missed them:
  5. Yes. Although it's really hard to tell what it's doing in the video. You can sort of hear it make a weird noise though.... FYI - The ride has since been closed.
  6. I never felt Skyrush looked underwhelming at all at first glance. Those of us who have been on Mega-Lites and other smaller Intamin rides know what to expect. They have the ability to pack a LOT of intense ride action into a small space.
  7. Here's a few more pics that Dave sent me.... He tells me: "For the record it's an amazing rollercoaster. Lots of air time and doesn't seem anywhere near as slow when you are on it"
  8. Interesting comment from the article. Maybe there was no problem with the ride after all and the guy wins the Darwin Award. As sketchy as rides in China can be, this actually sounds a lot more plausible to me.
  9. Wow, the last few pages have been an exercise in patience. Let me see if I can summarize - It's a lot of "armchair engineers" trying to asses how much a ride will suck based on a couple of bad videos of testing runs, and as annoying and obnoxious as their comments are, most of them would give their left nut to take a trip to the UAE ride and and probably end up enjoying the crap out of it! Did I get that right? This is why I spend a lot less time worrying about insignificant details about rides, and just go and HAVE FUN! Even the worst Chinese knock-off SLC is more interesting and entertaining than a typical day of work... ...unless you work in porn or at a strip club or something.
  10. Thanks! This is the third time I've been on his show and I love the format. And not only for the theme park episodes I'm on, but for all the other random stuff he talks about, too!
  11. Agreed. It's cool to see smaller parks do stuff like this.
  12. And here's an article that covers some of this: http://www.cleveland19.com/story/31273047/cedar-point-unveils-park-enhancements-changes-at-winter-chill-out-benefit?sf21268949=1
  13. Please don't post links from this site. It's a click-bait spammy website with most of their content coming from sources that aren't even their own. Thank you.
  14. If anyone is interested in representing TPR for a hard hat construction tour at Carowinds on Feb 24th, please contact me at robbalvey@themeparkreview.com You must be: - 18 years or over - Able to take decent pictures and post a photo trip report - Available in the morning for a couple of hours This is a tour of all the new additions coming to the park this year. 15. In my mind, it's a genre.
  16. Ha! I actually told them this exact same thing!
  17. It's already been posted here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1673132#p1673132
  18. The final section will be free spinning.
  19. Yesterday was the Mako backstage tour and today was Cobra's Curse! I have to be honest, as cool as Mako looks, and I know it will be a lot of fun, I'm really REALLY psyched about Cobra's Curse! And here's why... It's not often that a park truly builds a "one-of-a-kind" roller coaster. And this is not your normal "spinning coaster" as a lot of times when you hear that term, you think about your typical "spinning wild mouse" but this is so....soooooo much more! The coaster is broken up into three parts: forward facing, backward facing, and spinning! Add a vertical elevator lift on top of that, some amazing looking theming, and you've got a really unique ride! I can't think of any other coaster that mixes all of these elements together, and also has a unique ride vehicle for a spinning coaster. Anyway, let's go to some photos & video... Additional photos by Jack Crouse Check out the ride vehicle! Watch the video to see it SPIN! Here's an overview of the construction site. You can see the elevator lift just towers over the ride! We love the theming... I've always been impressed with the detail that goes into BGT's attractions. Cheetah Hunt, Falcon's Fury, now this one... Sooooo good! Brian Morrow showing us some of the concept boards for the ride. He looks proud of them... He should be. They look FANTASTIC! And yes...there will be snakes! A new snake exhibit will open with the ride! Who names these things? Seriously? Gaboon?!?!? That sounds like how you name a sound effect from a comic book or cartoon. "The two characters are running at each other and *GABOON!!!!* they crash together in an epic way!!!" Seriously...a snake named "Gaboon..." I will move on now.... Jeff speaks of spinning coasters and stuff. He's in the video. Watch him. This man knows his stuff! Walking up to the construction site...the ride looks great! I love how it comes over the wall from Montu. This lift here you will be going up...BACKWARDS! Yes! It's gonna be amazing! In fact, this whole twisty helixy area you will be going backwards the entire time! And in this trench here is part of the "spinning" section. I love that this ride has three distinct sections to it: Forward, Backward, and Spinning! And if you're not a fan of spinning rides, WATCH THE VIDEO! Brian will explain why you NEED to try this one out! Yes, Snakes do jump over a wall. I'm really pumped about the elevator lift! Two trains will be in this structure at the same time. One on the top and one on the bottom. Dudes are still hard at work. The bottom of the giant snake is in place! Can't wait to see the rest of it! Another picture of the twisted backwards helix. This should be pretty damn cool! Yup, you WILL be spinning through this section! CLOSE UP TRACK SHOT!!!! Hello Tower of Elevator...you are awesome! Track, track...more track... Cobra...meet Montu.... Montu...Cobra. Better get used to each other being here...you're roommates now! Awesome panoramic view! Jack & I had an awesome time hanging out at Busch Gardens today! Can't wait to come back later in the year to ride!!!
  20. Apparently a "VR Coaster" has been announced at SFOT but it would appear the link they sent out is broken: https://www.sixflags.com/overtexas/attractions/vr/overview?utm_campaign=overtexas&utm_medium=socialad&utm_source=twitter&utm_event=vr-announcement&utm_adtype=video&utm_flight=1&utm_gender=both&utm_demo=12-49&utm_content=video-vr If anyone gets the link to work later, please post the info! Thanks!
  21. To be honest, I've never looked at them. I'll move this topic to the main forum to see if anyone else knows...
  22. SEAWORLD ANNOUNCES NEW OCEAN EXPLORER TO OPEN IN 2017 New attraction will create a realm for ocean discovery and exploration! SAN DIEGO (Feb. 16, 2016) – SeaWorld® San Diego will unveil an extraordinary, new attraction in 2017 that will create an expedition of wonder across the seven seas. Ocean Explorer will combine multiple aquariums, exciting rides and digital technologies to engage park guests in an experience centered on exploration and adventure inspiring them to protect the wonders of our oceans. “I’m extremely excited about Ocean Explorer and I know our guests, of all ages, are going to love this fun, interactive and educational new area of the park,” said John Reilly, SeaWorld San Diego’s park president. “The opportunity to see and learn about some of the ocean’s most fascinating creatures, coupled with a mix of distinctive rides and activities, will give our visitors a meaningful experience only SeaWorld can create.” As adventurers on a global expedition of scientific exploration, guests will travel to Ocean Explorer’s remarkable undersea animals aboard submarines, the signature ride of the attraction. Embarking on these mini subs, visitors will become researchers on a mission to collect data and learn how they can help animals. This three-minute experience will include an onboard digital navigation dashboard, as well as a few other surprises along their journey, enhancing the riders’ understanding of the ocean ecosystem. “This newest, fully immersive attraction at SeaWorld San Diego is the next chapter in creating experiences that can create both wonder and curiosity for the oceans,” said Brian Morrow, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment’s vice president of theme park experience design. “Park guests will trek through sea-base stations, make special connections with incredible animals and discover how they too can take action to protect the oceans.” The heart and destination of Ocean Explorer will be a series of undersea research bases housing specially-designed aquariums and interactive activities displaying unique as well as elusive ocean animals. “I can’t be more thrilled about Ocean Explorer,” said Mike Price, SeaWorld San Diego’s assistant curator of fishes. “We will give our visitors the chance to come eye-to-eye with amazing animals like giant octopuses, huge spider crabs and hundreds of colorful jellies – some of which have never been seen at the park before. We will also give everyone a variety of different vantage points to view the animals by taking them around and inside these underwater habitats.” Guests will discover these newly created aquariums, known as research pods, throughout Ocean Explorer. Enriching educational displays, technologies and graphics will be key components of each pod. Ocean Explorer will also feature an exhilarating wave swinger ride where guests will literally fly through thousands of real bubbles in chairs suspended from the tentacles of a giant jelly. Three family-friendly rides will round out the fun of this immersive, new attraction. “Our guests’ response to new attractions has always been tremendously positive,” said Reilly. “The scope of Ocean Explorer demonstrates our ongoing commitment to creating new and fresh attractions, exhibits and events that provide the exciting, educational and entertaining experiences SeaWorld is known for.” Construction on Ocean Explorer will begin in summer 2016 on a 3-acre site where the Animal Connections exhibit and the Circle of Flags are currently located on the southeast side of the park. This multi-million dollar attraction is scheduled to open in late spring of 2017.
