Just hope this won't turn into another debate but building wooden roller coasters with steel supports has been used for a very long time since early 20th century. Usually coaster are divided into steel and wooden depending on the track which are either steel or wooden. But then Rocky Mountain Group and Texas Giant fu**ed it all up. And finally, I think Twister will be a different experience compared to Balder. -

Gröna Lunde has put up a new video showing the lift engine, station, queue area, the boardwalk and some nice view of the first drop. (It's all swedish) Video #7 They're currently finishing the steel on the track, has installed the chain on the lifthill, airgates in the station, working on the boardwalk and some booths for shops and games under the camelback hill. The trains get flown in from US but he didn't say when but it better be soon if they're going to test it thorughly. Looks great and it's only 36 days left till opening. -
Wouldn't really call those techno myself but labeling music is kinda stupid and almost impossible these days. Anyway some good grooves as always from Henrik Schwarz. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NCpPxrOGT0

Oh I'm not the guy to ask about when the trains arrive as I'm neither a staff member of Gröna Lund nor Gravity Group. But I can make a guess. I would guess we'll be able to see trains in first half of april when the track is finished, the lift hill got some chain installed and when the coaster is ready for some testing. I might visit the park this spring but I don't own a good enough camera to use, might be able to borrow one, we'll see. Anyway, we got some new pictures on facebook and rcdb.com First a few from gravity group's facebook http://www.facebook.com/#!/album.php?fbid=438094194027&id=45279469027&aid=241457 Camelbacks and turns The roof is done and the bridge over it is ready for the last bents to be raised. Well... the picture speaks for itself. And the last picture is taken by Doug Ekström-Ahlby. http://www.rcdb.com/m/9352.htm?p=0 And on the web cam after sundown you can see some testing of a few light bulbs on the first cammelback. This is gonna look beautiful at night when all the lights are installed. -
Ok adrenalin junkies, how about this one?

Hey Tompa, yes that first drop is going to be nice, that's for sure. Korey writes a little bit about how they have tweaked the profile on the first drop to make it more airtime friendly for the riders in the back of the train. Can't wait to try it out for myself. Gravity Group has added some new lovely pictures. http://www.facebook.com/#!/album.php?id=45279469027&aid=241457 The arches for Blå tåget are finally up! Twister will be running over this arch soon. Tracking the first drop. On the roof looking back at the entrance arches. -

Justin Garvanovic, founder of ECC has taken some pictures offering some nice views from the construction site. Pictures taken a few weeks ago though so pretty much all of the supporting structure is done since then (not sure about the hill over the entrance vault to the Blå tåget building though) and work is now being concentrated on building the track. http://www.coasterclub.org/gallery/albums/grona_lund_twister/?i=index-s-se-o0.html&sub=&sel=10&offset=0 A picture from Gravity Group's facebook. http://www.facebook.com/#!/album.php?id=45279469027&aid=241457 Here we can see the future boardwalk and the camelback hill. And a couple of pictures from Gröna Lund's facebook. http://www.facebook.com/#!/album.php?id=343591900666&aid=199882 The carpenters continues to work hard in the cold. We haven't seen much from inside of the Blå tåget building but here's one rare picture from the construction. And finally Gröna Lund has done an interview with Korey Kiepert from Gravity Group. (some in swedish, some in english) -

I made a longer version (10 minutes) for anyone who wants to see more details in the pictures. Workers have been away during the holidays but should be back soon to continue the construction. Will try to follow the construction right to the opening but I think I'll be a little busier with other stuff to do. -

^^ Yes I think we need an update on this ride. The ride has been named Skatteøen (Treasure Island) and is themed to fit with the new pirate area of the park (where the great Piraten is located). The park has billed it as Europe's biggest water coaster at 28m tall and with a speed of 70km/h (not sure why they don't count Europa Park's Atlantica SuperSplash as an water coaster). A danish coaster enthusiast (not sure if he's a member of this forum) has posted some artist renderings and some layout pictures on his facebook page. Nick Frank Christensen's facebook The station I think we can asume the ride will feature a themed indoor section The overall area looks great The pirate themed boat The layout of the coaster section and splash area An height elevation view The park also have some construction pictures latest dated 5th November. http://www.djurssommerland.dk/index.php?id=325 The typical Mack waterfall splash hill Most of the concrete has been poured for the lake and base of the station This park keeps getting better and better. -

Brrr, it's getting cold and snowy up here but Twister is still growing more and more. So far the lift hill and first turn has been topped off and what a tight turn it is. The pictures are as usually taken by gravity group's cast and Gröna Lund's Mattias Banker Gravity Group rcdb.com Yup, turn is still there. Lift hill topped off! And from the back the turn is fully visible. Gravity Group explains that only the timberliner trains are capable of performing such tight turns (3m/9') on a regular wooden roller coaster. The first drop is almost complete and those red hot handrails are not made of wood but by some composite making this even more of a hybrid coaster -
If there's anyone who's feeling for some disco I've made a mix of some songs from the good ol' days to some of the more modern days tracks and edits (and a few blues tracks just for fun). Olov - Partysco Tracklist is as follow: 1) K.C. & The Sunshine Band - Do You Wanna Go Party 2) Ilija Rudman - Call Me Tonight (Greg Wilson Version) 3) Instant Funk - Dark Vader 4) Space - Deliverance (The Love Supreme Hard Disco Remix) 5) Sly Mongoose - Snakes And Ladder (Rub n Tug Remix) 6) Chic - Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah) 7) Chaplin Band - il Veliero (Bonar Bradberry Edit) 8) Diskjokke - 1987 (Prins Thomas Diskomiks) 9) Skatebård - Way Out (H.R. Genova Remix) 10) Aeroplane - Superstar (The Krays Remix) 11) Mirror People - Night Impact (Cosmonaut Grechko Re-Intepretation) 12) Itäväylä - Black Diamond Express 13) Canned Heat - On The Road Again (Wanda Rode Again) (Wade Nichols Edit) I got other mixes as well on my soundcloud page which are mostly tech-house, deep house and some flat out techno.

The proper renderings has been put up on the Gravity Group's Gravitycast. http://thegravitygroup.com/gravitycast/from-the-iaapa-expo-renderings-of-happy-valley-in-wuhan-china/ I might be seeing things wrong but it looks like the finish line will be inside the station on those middle tracks. That should create a nice atmosphere in the station where waiting passengers can watch those trains race for the finish line. Edit: And here's a POV video from both sides.

I really hope that system works - shooting in between the bolt assemblies at 60+mph leaves no room for error - not even a micrometer. I would like to know how you know what the tolerances are and a micrometer is very very small. (A thickness of a hair is between 17-100 micrometer) I can't think of anything mechanical that uses a tolerance of one micrometer. -
