The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Swoosh replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well if that's what you think then you would be incorrect. The new attraction for 2008 is not going there, but an addition for 2007 IS going there. They should announce what is going there either later July or early August. -
How to fix a coaster in Georgia
Swoosh replied to Coastinmiller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Once they got it "fixed" did they use duct tape and C-clamps to keep it "fixed"? That always seems to work. -

Honestly, that is what they should do anyway regardless if they sell out. It was quite obvious when I visited the park, what was the draw of Geauga Lake. I still think that building up the waterpark and throwing in the towel on the ride side would be the best thing for this park. There is plenty of rides on the ride side that could be distributed throughout the chain at the other 10 (I'm leaving CP out of this) parks in the chain that they wouldn't have to spend additional capital next year on anything "new". The only costs would be the removal and transportation to the other parks. Once that is done, sell that side for condos. There is a lake there, why not make it lakeside condos. I KNOW you can make more money with condos then that ride side of the park. Also I'm not just saying that because I want Dominator at Worlds of Fun, it just makes good business sense. Cedar Point is never going to have a huge waterpark, and Geauga Lake cannot compete with Cedar Point -- so MAYBE a huge waterpark would be the best fit?!?! I don't know, makes too much sense. -

You honestly don't understand how the chain works at all do you? The board is who makes the decisions. Kinzel is only one voice on that board -- he alone does not make the decisions. Under the board then you have Regional Mgrs who have 4 or so parks that they watch over. Next you have the individual parks which each have their own GM who is the person in charge of everything that goes on there. Then there is a whole bunch of people and "yes sirs" under them. One reason I don't want the mgmt to change is the fact that Worlds of Fun is the home base for our Regional Mgr - Phil Bender. Since he was originally WoF's GM, he still has a lot of pull on what goes on there and he has really worked wonders at the park. -

^The thing that I loved about Kennywood was the fact that they didn't think they needed to remove the old rides to put in ultra-modern new things. I loved the architecture there in the park. The restaurant near the gift shop was beautiful with the lattice work and lights. It is just a really cool park and I can hardly wait to visit it again sometime soon. -
Wild West World Discussion Thread

Well I honestly questioned the sanity of the people building the park in Wichita to begin with -- it's not like Wichita is a big time "TOURIST" destination. Honestly, where did they expect that they would draw people from? Most of the people that they would hope to draw in go to Worlds of Fun already. Let's see "honey where would rather go today? Worlds of Fun or Wild West World?" -- I don't think that it would be too hard to guess what the answer would be. -

Well there are still a lot of cut outs, but then they also have the animatronics which are 3D (not flat). The ride is still really cheesy though. -

AJMouse, that ride is sort of weird. You get into boats and then go past some cutouts and some animatronics dealing with Garfield and Friends. It is really weird. Bascially everyone that Garfield has ever picked on gets even in his "nightmare". 307, I have no idea what the ride was like before the Garfield takeover. I just know that it was the Old Mill -

No that land is being cleared to connect the loop. The gondola ride is going in besides that path. Also, the space. It's very large. -

Day 6: We left our motel in Sandusky and made the almost 4 hour trip to Pittsburgh to visit a new park for us -- Kennywood. We both fell in love with the park. We will definitely hit it up again next time we are in this part of the country Park #7 Kennywood For all 104 photos see our Kennywood Gallery Bye, Kennywood! Thanks for a great day!!! I loved the Thunderbolt Insane From the 1st drop, this thing is nothing but pure fun Possibly one my top favorite woodies Yes I rode it -- and yes it was fun! then I finally remembered that it is a continuous track coaster... sun must have been getting to me to make me forget Had to ride it several times -- confused me when I came into the station on the "wrong" side How can you not love this ride? Don't get me wrong, I still liked it Really the only thing it has going for it is the triple down -- which was fun Jackrabbit was all right I'm sure no one has ever taken this photo before This coaster was awesome I likes they rollycoaster That's one tall drop tower Never opened while we were there I really liked this ride and after talking to my bro, it sounds as if KW's is much better than the one at BPB This was a fun log flume Neat theme to an Aero 360 ride Needs a good refurbishment. The sound was off in a lot of places. Turtle, turtle This ride was a lot of fun -- is it really the only one in the US? Kangaroo was one of the weirdest rides I have ever seen SPLASH! The swings were a lot of fun too Yeah WHIP! However, this one is not as good as Dorney's Did not like this ride. Way too jerky and the spinning in the dark made me nauseous SwingShot was a lot of fun This was interesting They also had pretty flower beds I really liked this one There are a lot of pretty fountains here Entrance to heaven? Well maybe a close second -

Great PTR. I do have to ask, where you guys going all coaster nerd-like in this photo? The reason I ask is, look at the eyes on the girl in the purple shirt behind you. She looks very scared. -
Since the Earful Tower is not even a real water tower, I don't see why they don't move it into the actual park itself so that IT can become the logo trademark again. The hat wouldn't be so bad it was over in the Animator's Courtyard, but the current location is just tacky. As for the Chinese Theatre facade, if it is such a problem, they could just switch over to the El Capitan Theatre as they DO own that

Apparently not when he visited, which he did BTW

^^Why is it that middle schoolers cannot read and listen? Like ^ said they are not going to fill it all in for next season. It is much easier to get the utilities and whatnot set up in advance so when you do want to expand with a ride or so, you won't have to tack setting up the utilities on top of the expense of the new attraction. We are all aware that the space is large. We are not debating that issue. -

Could it be that there is a large amount of land cleared because they are going to have to put in basics along that new path. You'll need walk up restaurants, restrooms, other utilities just to run that area. It's not just like you can make a path and call it good. I would imagine that next year's cap is going to go towards the "basic foundations" that must be built up in that area. I'm sure a large cap will be coming down the road, but HFEC has already confirmed that a large cap WILL NOT be coming to DW next season. -

8/10. Sad when I miss the ones about Indiana Beach. -
I know a lot of people from CoasterCommunity.com will be going. I'm not sure if I will make the trip up or not. We (my wife and I) were just there last weekend. Since it is a Friday, I imagine I'll be flying solo if I do go... might swing by the Dells on the way up.

Cannot elaborate at this time, sorry. I mean I'm not trying to play the "I know something you don't" game, but legally I cannot say anything right now. Yes they rival the west bottoms haunted houses downtown. As far as scare zones, Dominion of Doom is a scare zone with a lot of props that are along the way that they hide behind. Lore and Asylum are inside. Camp is outside but hidden in the woods. One of the new ones will be inside the other will be outside. Still finalizing everything for the outside one, but it sounds like it might be more of a scare zone as well.

Yeah Valleyfair got the idea for Hellshire Farms from Worlds of Fun. The reason why Valleyfair had so many mazes to start off is because they basically lifted the event from Geauga Lake and exported it to you guys. Also you got some left overs from Knotts as well (from what I heard)

Just have to know who(m) to ask... or know people who will tell you stuff before it goes public.

Waiting for the launch is the worst part, but if you are scared about it -- don't ride in the front the first time. Any other seat but the front is extremely tame during the launch IMHO -- I think it is the visual of being in the front.
