  1. I hate lines -- mainly because they are filled with rowdy teenage brats. During the summer I don't want to be reminded of my job (teaching jh/hs). I personally love being able to go to a park mid-week where there is minimal crowds, riding what I want as many times as I need to and then leaving without having to spend the entire day there.
  2. It will not be next year if SDC does bring the Mystery Mine concept to their park. Now the Giant Swing is almost a given at DW. As far as what SDC is getting next season... what can be released as of now is that the park will have another "Medium-Cap" season next year -- FWIW, Grand Expo and Giant Swing were considered "Medium-Caps" and they were in the $6-$8Million range. As of right now, HFEC has no idea what they want to add to CC for 2008. They are looking at how the two new animal shows do this season and that will determine if they renew the contracts for next season. They were extremely disappointed with the response from last seasons MBX show (which wasn't too surprising as the show sucked). Oh and one last thing, the word right now is that the next large cap will be in 2009 -- PowderKeg was the last LARGE cap at SDC
  3. Could it have something to do with the blocks? If the train in front of it has not cleared the "magic number" of blocks in front of the train you are on, the chain will slow down to allow the train to clear the block. It happens all the time on B&Ms that run multiple trains (well they have to have a good load crew too -- you won't have to worry about it on StL's Batman as they always stack)
  4. No actually it is a medium sized park. Its acreage makes it bigger than it really is though.
  5. Um, as a newbie you wouldn't get that. It's an inside joke. That photo is of Psuckclone (or where it used to be) at SFMM. Rob made the comment awhile back that that photo should be included in every photo TR since it is such a wonderful sight to see it gone.
  6. I agree a Megaphobia woodie would do well at this park
  7. Yes there appeared to be some work going on around Black Hole
  8. What you should do: 1. Enter parking lot toll gate road 2. Pay parking attendant 3. Find parking spot 4. Get out of car 5. Remember to take keys with you 6. Lock car 7. Remember where you parked car 8. Walk to front gate area 9. Purchase tickets 10. Walk to turn stiles 11. Present ticket to ticket taker 12. Walk through turnstile 13. Prepare to be amazed 14. Enjoy park! Honestly what larygator said. Also think about hitting AIR earlier in the day as the loading time seemed to take forever on it.
  9. Last photo was from the float trip ride that used to be where American Plunge is now. They reversed the current added the drop and now you have a flume ride as opposed to a float trip. Hucks Hideaway was deemed to structurally unstable and that was why the Runaway Ore Cart coaster had to leave. There is a brace there that was supposed to help the treehouse. That was only a bandaid and proved to not provide as much support as the treehouse needed. It is closed now (pretty much permanently) and has been for almost two seasons. The park is still trying to decide what to do with it. Tom's Fort has been closed a majority of the season and popular rumour is that this is the last season for it and that Tom Sawyer Landing will look a lot different next season -- that however remains to be seen and thsoe who know aren't going to talk anytime soon. BTW did you wish FITH Happy Birthday? It is celebrating 35 seasons this year and it is STILL a crowd favorite even though there are "bigger boys" now in the park.
  10. hard to tell, it seems everytime you turn around it has a new theme
  11. This TR needs some pics -- so here you go http://www.midwestinfoguide.com/gallery/parks/sdc/ Grand Expo ThuNderaTion Lost River PowderKeg WildFire Giant Barn Area
  12. No, we actually had a great time. I think my problem is that I have ridden so many coasters that I have started to become jaded. Also I'm not a big fan of Mad Houses, but the location of HEX did have a plus. Wonka was just weird though, there is no way around that.
  13. Preview below, see all of the photos here: http://www.midwestinfoguide.com/gallery/parks/at/ I didn't get it Mine train = fun It was fun, but I wanted more Coaster come back! FUN TIMES Coaster go down the hole! Mad House in a castle -- moving on. blah blah corkscrew blah blah Was a little underwhelmed by Rita, I guess I was expecting more power in the launch -- still a fun ride though The theme was great -- the caverns were great -- Nemesis was great Couldn't get enough of this inverted, I wish they would build one like this in the US Fun flying coaster, but my favorite is still Tatsu Such a pretty park -- love the garden area
  14. I meant that there had been so many 'upgrades' (for a lack of a better word) to the rolling stock that they are not the 'original' trains that were designed for TW. The shuffling is most noticeable in the first banked curve, the helix, the Bobs turn and the run back to the station -- basically everywhere that has been "fixed"
  15. Call me a skeptic, but I'll believe it when I see it on whether this park even gets built. Looks like another OZ or Papa's Park to me
  16. While HAUNT at KBF will always be the "king" of Halloween, WOF's Halloweekends is quickly becoming THE halloween event in the Midwest. They are adding 2 more unique haunts this year and one sounds like it will be insane -- completely original idea. You know that WOF's event is good when the CF HQ sends other parks to WOF to get ideas on how to improve their events. Also WOF is home to the BEST Asylum in the chain according to Kinzel
  17. ^The current trains are not the original rolling stock and thus why the shuffling occurs. It is not because of the track.
  18. Trains are not supposed to shuffle down the track like the rolling stock does on TW. Um, I'm not sure what TW some of you are riding because the brakes were on light and there was monster air when I rode TW when I was at CoasterMayhem
  19. Zambezi Zinger was my first as well Fury of the Nile is sporting new signage New signage -- never had a sign near the entrance before now
  20. We were there at 8:45 and stayed until about 10:30 and left for a spell. We came back at about 12:30 and rode TimberWolf and had a walk-a-bout and it was time for lunch. After that we took off for Legends in Village West and came back around 9:00 so we could ride Timbers again as well as riding Wacky Worm before night ERT
  21. Jason, I guess you are riding a different TWolf then I am because it is still intense. If the brake was off on the first drop I think you would feel the shuffling even more than you do now. Honestly if they would fix those blasted trains it would be a much better ride.
  22. Steel, were you at the morning ERT session?
  23. ^^Yes TimberWolf is a lot smoother than it has been in a long time. The helix section received the most work this off season and it is very noticable. The real problem now is the stupid trains. ^Thank you very much for your kind words.
  24. Thanks -- yeah we kind of like our PATRIOT as well.
