I think you need to reread what I said because you are taking me out of context. I said: I'm not calling people who like Mavie fanboys, I'm saying that people are scared to saying anything about because there are fanboys (and you know who they are) who will call the person everything in the book because they didn't like the ride. -

You know the more I think about it, the people that I see that are saying that they love it are people who are under 20 whereas the people that I talked to were in their upper 20s and beyond so maybe it is an age thing where the younger kids can handle the ride better? or perhaps it is the older riders have experienced so many more rides they don't feel that they HAVE to love the ride?!?! Also hemmy give it rest, we are all entitled to have our own opinions on rides, just because mine is not the same as your's doesn't mean I'm a CP hater. If that was the case MF wouldn't be my #1 steel. -
My mother loves them. My father hates them, but tolerates my family liking them. My brother studied abroad in England to ride more. My wife will plan future trips and looks for parks around places where we'll be on business trips My mother-in-law gets sick just looking at them My father-in-law is too fat to ride most of them My brother-in-law is a whimp and won't ride them My brother-in-law's wife is too fat to ride them I love them, but don't flaunt that I know so much about them. My friends own their own website too, so it works out. My co-workers do not know that I am into rollercoasters, and that will remain that way because they wouldn't understand.

No you can kick the plants -- I have done it before here and after the second corkscrew. Told the employees about it and it didn't even phase them. However they were busy talking about their party last night and not paying attention the stacking trains so I do not think they were too interested in anything that a "paying" customer had to say. (actually I got in free with my SP)

Really? I think it is more of the people who think it was "meh, OK" just are not saying anything for fear that fanboys will criticize them. You know it is ok to not like a ride because it could have been better. After riding almost 500 coasters in my life I am allowed to say I do not like a ride because it should have been better. Also like I have stated before most of the people I talked to were very hesitant before giving a response on what they thought of the ride. Most were like "It was OK, but I won't be running back to get in line for it." So once again, I am just one of the few that are actively speaking out against all of the fanboy craze and saying that the ride is not the "bomb" or the "sh!t" it is just another ride that could have been engineered better and been a whole lot better than what it is in its current state. -

^Yes, I agree 100% -- I wouldn't even have queued for it if it was built by Togo. -

^No, you see the that's the thing, I did brace myself. I don't think that having to BRACE yourself to even tolerate a ride constitutes the ride being "fun" and the "best ride ever". No in my book that constitutes as a ride that sucks and should have been designed to handle the forces better. The only good thing I can say about the ride is -- thank God Arrow didn't build it. -

Honestly the ride is way over hyped and is proving to be a "fanoy" favorite even though the overall ride is terrible. Way too much whipping at the begining of the ride for me. What could have been nice transitions end up being nasty choppy turns which cause TOO MUCH head banging to even be considered fun. Once you get through the canyon it is fun with the floater hill and horseshoe. I like the launch tunnel, but hate course after it. Honestly, why would anyone think that a curve after a launch is a good idea? I wish they would have reconsidered some of the transitions near the start and finish as it would have been a much better ride. But the overall choppy movements added to those nasty OTSR that Intamin thinks they need to add to their rides now, provides a terrible ride experience. The only thing that I could do to make it better was to make myself as "big" as possible when riding so that I wouldn't move in the restraint. Too many brace positions to list.... screw this I'm going to go queue for Millennium Force now, which is much better and is FUN to ride. -

You know, originally I had this park on my list of parks that I was going to visit on my coaster vacation, however the day that we were supposed to go something told me not to go -- weird that an accident would happen that same day. -

My wife and I were talking about that same thing. It is obvious that Cedar Point is not going to bulk up its waterpark anytime soon and it is very obvious that the ride park at GL is going no where fast. Close the ride park and put condos on that side and then just operate the waterpark. It is not like it will be any big loss to close the ride side as NO ONE goes to THAT side. Honestly, I cannot get over how FEW rides there really are on the RIDE side. 32 and that is including the kiddie rides and the ones over in "Happy Harbor". Where should the rides go? -Head Spin (Boomerang) - MiA -Thunderhawk (SLC) - Valleyfair -Dominator (B&M Floorless) - WoF -Beaver Land Mine Ride - -Americana (ferris wheel) - WoF -Pepsi Plunge (flume ride) - CP -Texas Twister (TopSpin) - MiA -Starfish (Wipeout) - CP (put near the Galleon) Scrapped/Burned/Sold -Double Loop (Arrow two looper) -Big Dipper -Skyscraper -Shipwreck Falls -Time Warp (Double Inverter) -Raging Wolf Bobs -Villain -Haybaler (Alpine Bobs) -Dodgem -Merry Oldies (Antique Cars) -Random Kiddie Rides -
Silver Dollar City/Celebration City ??
Swoosh replied to Bob O's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While Celebration City can easily be done in a few hours (depending on whether or not you want to see the shows or stay around for the laser/fireworks show at 9:30), Silver Dollar City is worth taking the extra time to enjoy. Currently the Kids Festival is going on and there are some decent shows that are appearing that you might want to check out. You mentioned that you liked Dollywood, if that is the case you will love Silver Dollar City as it makes Dollywood look pale in comparison. The themeing is more immersive and complete than in Dollywood and there are a lot of "little things" that you will enjoy discovering hidden around the park -- much more so than Dollywood. I do highly recommend NOT GOING on a weekend to SDC though. According to the PR staff there they have been having record weekend attendances again this year and believe they will blow their projections for attendance this year out of the water again. -

To be quite blunt, the future of this park looks rather bleak. The GM was not overly positive with anything he said at the Q&A at EXT. It was basically "we don't have the money" or "we are not making any money". Sad really that they cannot even afford to fix RWB after it valleyed... Anyone ready to start a pool on how many more years this park has left in its life? -
Thanks for omitting Worlds of Fun and Valleyfair! I guess we no longer belong to the chain?

Unless there is a lot of people at the event and then it becomes "ELUSIVE" Ride Time

yeah, that was probably pretty stupid as well. I take it you put it back on before you got back to the station? If so, you rebel you. -

Nice photos, but you really need to follow the posted rules on not taking on ride photos. They are clearly marked at the entrance to every ride and taking on ride photos is cause for removal from the park. They are really cracking down on this and I don't want you to jeopardize your time at the park by not following posted safety rules. -

While we are on the topic of Kennywood, we (my wife and I) are considering taking a trip there for the first time. Her concern is that a majority of the coasters are old woodies and wants to know what the condition of the coasters are. Are they rough -- as in do you have to ride defensively in order to enjoy them? Personally I think that the whip and noah's ark are reason enough to go, but I was curious what you locals think about the current condition of the woodies at the park is.
