Full Update Here: (Preview Photos Below) http://www.midwestinfoguide.com/events/coastermayhem07/ Had a good turnout for Coaster Mayhem II this past Saturday. Though it was not as good as last year's, it was expected due to no new ride for 2007. Morning ERT on Mamba was a lot of fun, wish they would have had Timber Wolf on morning ERT as well, but they opted for Boomerang instead (WHY?) Night ERT on PATRIOT was out of control. The coaster runs so much better at night. Ended up getting almost 15 laps on it. Big give aways this year included the press entrance sign for PATRIOT media day and a banner from MIA's 50th. Photos below, enjoy. Coaster Mayhem III will be May 17th Spinning Dragons was also on Night time ERT It was running like a bat out of hell Night time ERT was on PATRIOT They allowed us to ride Wacky Worm this year WITHOUT borrowing a kid! Timber Wolf is running so much better this year -- now fix the stupid trains! They gave away the Patriot Media entrance sign this year Lunch buffet -- but no gravy I passed on that ERT For some odd reason they had ERT on Boomerang as well in the morning It was running very well Morning ERT was on Mamba

...completely ignoring the fact that PowderKeg doesn't have a 95-degree first drop and two corkscrews. True, but it does have quite a few overbanked curves. -

^Yeah, but SDC claims PowderKeg with its 0-53 in 2.8 sec is a "family" coaster too, so there you go. -
You get it as off-balance as you can. In my case the other two guys were very large "county bumpkins" who don't miss too many meals. Compare that to skinny as a rail me. I had them get in on one side and then I got in on other side and sat across from the largest of the two. Then you work your tilt-a-whirl magic. Now there is a method to it that you really have to show then tell, but you have to understand I have had lots of practice with the original across the state in my backyard. (Timberland doesn't count as it is indoors)

The last time I rode it was about 3 years ago and it gave me the worst headache I had ever had. I swear it jarred every bone in my body out of place. It was actually enjoyable for a change (never thought I would say that).

Look 6 different flags -- how long has it been since that happened?

I personally enjoy the Brookfield Zoo up there in Chicagoland. It is pretty cheap to get into and if it is hot, the indoor exhibits are very nice to escape the heat (or whatever weather). You could take them to ESPNZone downtown -- they have a pretty big arcade there. The Science Museum has a lot of interactive exhibits as does the Field Museum. -

Well it would be a straight shot on I-35 to KC and the 435 around KC, then it gets a little hairy as you have to take US 71 (2-lane most of the way) through the middle of nowhere, or take US 13 to Springfield (which is 4-lane) and then I-44 to this area.

^Ahhh, but this is NOT IN BRANSON. This is on I-44 near Joplin, almost an hour away from Branson.

Taking On-Ride Photos
Swoosh replied to rollercoastermayhem's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think that the rules are put into place for a reason and that you should follow the posted rules of the park. The only time that you should EVER take onride photos is when you are under the direct supervision of a representative of the park -- and then and only then should be allowed to take the photos under their rules and stipulations. Failure to request permission from the park before taking onride photos could cause not only you but others who go through the proper channels headaches and ill feelings between all parties involved. -

Even with the "weather" SDC pulls in their largest crowds during December. Also don't forget there is already a Disney park in Paris which has crappy winter weather as well. Yes but we also thought the same thing about Legoland, and it has already passed the first hurdle in getting built in KC.

http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070421/NEWS02/704210360/1007/NEWS01 Sounds interesting, I wonder what has caused the sudden surge of "big names" wanting to build in Missouri/Kansas area. First Schlitterbahn, then Legoland and now Disney?!?!

The thing about Patriot is that it is BIG. It's a BIG inverted coaster. The coaster is not about thrills, but grace. It feels like you are flying when you ride that thing, it's a lot of fun. It is definitely one of the better inverts out there -- not because it is in your face, but because it does everything gracefully. -

and to think that it originally looked just like a regular carnival ride, with the decals and everything that are standard on Wisdom Tornados -

No the train tracks are still where they have always been. The only thing they had to move was the robbery. -
Media photos of the new Stinger at Celebration City were sent out today. Looking much better than it used to, this Wisdom Tornado ride is the new attraction at the park this season. While some question the addition of a "carnival" ride to the park, it will definitely make a unique addition to the park. Below you can see the new paint scheme of the ride, which appeared to have been purchased used.

Had a very chilly day for media day, but it finally warmed up enough to get some rides in. The park gave a presentation in the new section and then fed up us a brunch of World Cuisine (I love SDC food). Then they gave us VIP seating at some of their new shows for World Fest. Previews below, the entire update is at MiG http://www.midwestinfoguide.com/media/swing/ Luau show Zunyi Acrobats food from brunch -- this is the Chicken Wellington and it was wonderful photos from High-Low Silo Lisa Rau addressing the media main icon sign with World Fest Flags
