Besides spending some time looking at the new GCI coaster i also walked around the park being pleasantly surprised by how it looked during this winter opening. I might actually try to do this again next year. I've added some pictures (in no particular order) that i took during my visit. Hope you enjoy them. How many parks have a ferris wheel installed just for a few weeks? too warm and not enough snow.. i totally forgot to have a look inside later that day wait?? are these new?? or do these just remind me of Japan... time to warm up a bit and check out the cave why so sad? working working working.. so this is how it looks without water wassup? plenty of options winter is white is santa is.. this just does not remind me of a themepark at all (again) forgot to get some Raclette. Guess i'll have to go back big BIG wheel wheel with one of the hotels in the background Euro-mir Eurosat looking like a present the new 4D show. It was pretty good (i think) last bit of snow next to the last bit of snow was a circus tent where park characters were playing with kids another snowtubing location (without snow) another look at this fun coaster lots and lots of lights floating globes this is an actual church which can be used for weddings etc inside the park how to install a ferris wheel at Atlantica Pirate fun don't waste your drink hmmm eye of the tiger.. we had some lunch here as well Piraten in Batavia the sun is setting.. more and more lights are showing ice skating area with euro mir in the background Euro mire all dressed up for winter theming pretty the sun is almost gone Coke train? it's getting better every time it's winter time present at night that's a big tree just nice to sit down and chill the mouse that gave my brother a nice surprise owh wait, the candle is out?? just in case you forgot where we are one of my favorite images from this trip total darkness always helps it's Russia floating lights one of the hotels at night Spain area at night Blue Fire (was closed.. i wonder why ) playing with reflections Light parade people seemed to enjoy it it's France (i think) Italy? Back at hotel Colosseo it looks so awesome at night the new Hotel Bell Rock is being built right there one last look at the hotel (with Bell Rock behind me) Hope you enjoyed it.

At this time i'm spending the weekend at Europapark to check out the winter opening and progress on the new wooden Coaster. Winter opening and the amount of lights used is just amazing and the new coaster.. Looks very very impressive. Here's a bunch of pictures i took today to show different angles for this coaster and the current state of the build. Enjoy. Some technical details: The ride will have 3 trains (GCI First), rubber wheels (GCI first) with the hard and soft option if needed and lapbars only. I'll add some night pictures in a next update Second part/update: Winter opening First look at the coaster from the parking deck of on of the hotels looks like airtime in the distance close to the deck and underneath atlantica imagine trainings flying over that hill. this should be a nice angle once the ride opens turn with a banking work in progress wood crossing hmmm can't wait for the ride to open last bit of the ride before the brake run hmmm twist and turn it does change the skyline.. wind was blowing like crazy and these guys were still up there and adding bends lifthill and turn to first drop respect that's a long lifthill from atlantica from the ferris wheel turning and jumping turn underneath atlantica final turn jump the first bends of the station they have started work on the turn towards Blue fire jump plenty of wood small overview behind the splash battle is the new coaster next to Blue fire looks like a nice speed build up as soon as the chain lets you go hmm, will try that later for more pictures imagine the train coming towards you underneath Atlantica twist and turn that is one very tall/long first drop. Should be fun some work still needs to be done... station and hill after the fly through fly through entering the station just a fun angle again, this lifthill is just.. wow final bit.. is it opening day yet? i like these structures flying away that's a lot of banking they are hard at work on this area jumpy jump jump this view has changed and will change a bit more before opening how wet will/can they get crossing the water ride.. time will tell.. against the sun/light from the observation tower another spot another angle some details one can see already so many details are being added to the arch bricks bricks bricks and bricks (or at least it looks that way) little bit of banking getting closer and closer imagine the trains flying through this turn work close up jump big big big first drop still some work left to be done this view has changed from the mini monorail another look at this lovely banked turn small overview hmm, maybe timing will work someday.. swooping turn should be fun jumping this and coming down atlantica swooping thats it for now... hope you enjoyed it

^ I like the Colosseo hotel The parks website offers some info regarding travel to and from the park http://www.europapark.com/lang-en/Info-and-services/Arrival/by-plane/c278.html There seems to be a service that will take you from the airport to the hotel for a decent price (looks like 33 euro for Basel airport) 2 days should be enough (depending on when you are going) Plenty things to do and stuff to see (besides coasters) Have fun

Might be better to ask a doctor instead of this forum.. But basic things.. make sure you had enough to drink before riding and enough food.. you don't want to ride dehydrated etc..

The park had hired a local contractor to finish the last bits and to get the ride running again... So i'm not sure how much S&S will be bummed as they have not been part of this project for over a year (or at least that's how it appears to have been)

Latest info (loosely translated from below): The coaster will not open at all (aka will never run again) They are cutting hours for the park and reducing the number of staff members. source

Another update After seeing all the pictures in other (trip) updates i was really looking forward to this moment.. Flowrider time I took some pictures of the first group and then handed my camera to Dan (thank you for taking those pictures) so i could join the second group. This was a lot of fun and i'm looking forward to the next time i can try this Here's a small selection of the pictures from that night. Hope you enjoy them. Yes, it's Flowrider time it looks so simple "i can make funny faces" you made a funny face?? look at mine I like it here and back to the start time to wipe out enjoying a small chat getting soaked bye bye but see.. practice makes perfect yeah, i like this owh crap ok, time for the "master" she made it look easy yeah, i'm on my knees.. know what?? wait?? what?? standing up?? ok, i'll just wipe out surfs up.. don't you just love a little spray?? trying to stand up... owh bugger... yeah, i'm still here second attempt that does not look good... taking the surf up... so many possible comments...
