The "Preview" Thread
Myself replied to DBru's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I've been working on this for months, and I finally have enough done to show three screenshots. Yep, someone's actually making a Kennywood recreation in RCT2 I don't know why the colors got all weird when I cropped the screens... So far, I've built along the road, and am just starting to build away from it. Thoughts? -

Hate to bump this topic, but the DVDs arrived at the house today. Unfortunately, I can't watch them until the weekend since I'm at college, but thanks again! -

I FOUND IT! The most recent page of the "Off Season Management Thread" has a post by a member named PAL in Club TPR. His banner leads here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/winner-illustration1.jpg -

Did Summers/Dinn make ANY good coasters?
Myself replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Although he obviously didn't design it, Dinn was involved in the reconstruction of the Phoenix...does that count? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the same applies to the Twister as well... -

Waldameer Discussion Thread
Myself replied to Millennium ForceJZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The hillside could also receive an escalator, and perhaps an elevator for those who need it, to get up and down. I think of the Pittsburgh Zoo, which has a very similar installation. As I said before, it is great that Waldameer is continuing to grow, and, despite their ability to squeeze rides into tiny spaces, I am still amazed that they figured out how to fit THREE rides in the train turnaround. The blog has pictures of the construction, with markers outlining the footprints for the rides, so I certainly believe it. I wonder if we'll see the "food court" in the Merry-Go-Round grove next season, or for 2012 with their "thrill" ride nearby. It seems early to speculate about another coaster, but when they eventually are able to add a new one, I think a Eurofighter, especially a compact one like Rage/Untamed, would be a perfect fit for the park. -
No love for Idlewild's Wild Mouse? I don't really have much experience with Vekoma other than that, and I really like it...it's arguably the best Wild Mouse you can find.

RCT2 Lost Objdata Help Thread
Myself replied to Stoksy's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Thanks a bunch! Regarding the supports, I found a video of the park they came from on Youtube: Pause at 0:35. Two of the three items I am looking for are used as the structure holding the Welcome sign. Basically, they're the basic support structures, except one is slanted like a wooden coaster hill without the track, and one is the top of the hill piece. The third is also slanted, but is steeper, like the steep drops. If I remember correctly, they were part of their own scenery group as well. Hope it helps! -
RCT2 Lost Objdata Help Thread

Does anyone have the over-path banner that looks like the one at the entrance to queues? I remember having one on the old computer but can't seem to find it now. Also, does anyone have the 'slanted supports'? Basically, they were wooden coaster supports for the beginning of a hill, as well as both steepnesses. They came with a scenario...I think it was called California Beach Boardwalk? Any help would be appreciated! One more thing...does anyone happen to have the Tumble Bug(s)? If not both, then just the one with peeps on...thanks! -
Official RCT/RCT2 Help Thread
Myself replied to Stoksy's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Okay...I know this is a stupid question...but here goes... I searched through every page of this thread to see if RCT2 is compatible with WIndows 7...and Googled it as well. It seems there is no consistent answer...for some people, the game works flawlessly, others can't save, play full screen, etc. A few results on Google showed that it can cause the system to freeze. How can I make sure I can get RCT2 to work fine on my computer? I have Windows 7 Ultimate and am unsure if it comes with XP compatibility mode or how to use it... I did see that a lot of trainers don't work on Windows 7 but I'm not worried about those...thanks in advance! -
Waldameer Discussion Thread
Myself replied to Millennium ForceJZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They had confirmed a while ago that a Zamperla Flying Carousel would be added in the train turnaround area...from what I see, the article looks like it says two of the rides will be located there...I know Waldameer can cram attractions into small spaces, but I really don't think more than one ride will fit there. There was also an earlier statement about the 'thrill' ride, being located on the lawn in front of the Merry-Go-Round picnic pavilion, which itself is supposed to become a food court. Having seen the area in person last month, there isn't much space there either. Seeing how they've managed to fit everything else in, I'm sure they'll find a way to make it work. I'm already looking forward to visiting next year! -
Well, the planets aligned and I was able to visit the park yesterday to check out the Blue Streak. The park was PACKED. Maybe because it was Labor Day Sunday, but the Blue Streak was undoubtedly the main reason for the crowds. The line to the ticket booth was almost a half hour wait. It probably would have been shorter if people could understand how the Blue Streak had a different set of tickets. Even when there were signs all over the window telling people that regular tickets were NOT accepted on the coaster, people kept getting frustrated at having to buy different tickets. I got three Blue Streak tickets and a wristband for the regular rides...and immediately met up with a friend of mine to get in line for the coaster. The line was almost a half hour wait...the kind of line you WANT to see for the sake of CLP. The line overflowed from its space, but the crew moved very quickly. Once the train came up to the loading point, it was a very brief time before dispatch, not Phoenix quick but still pretty fast. The interiors of the train are a little worn, but are still in decent shape...the front seat of the last car had no lapbar and was kept empty. The car bodies, however, look spectacular. The metal, on first glance, is in better condition than the Century Flyers on Kennywood's Thunderbolt. I got to ride the Blue Streak twice. Overall, it's a pretty fun ride (I had never been on it before). It is kind of rough, which varies depending on where you sit, but rides surprisingly well for having sat since 2006. The roughest parts were at the bottoms of the first two drops, but other than that, it was in pretty good shape. The retracked section, while the smoothest part of the ride by far, has a bit of a rattle to it, but it's not rough by any means. The tunnel obviously needs work as there are sections of the roof missing in many places, and about halfway through, the train feels like it won't make it to the lift. My first ride was in the center of the front car. The ride felt slightly smoother here, and there was nice floater on the hills in the first half. My second ride was in the very last seat...what a ride! Here the first half of the ride was so rough that it was almost painful, but the train pretty much YANKS you down the hills. The first two drops redefined ejector airtime...if I hadn't held on it felt like it WOULD have been thrown out of the train! It was THE strongest airtime I've ever experienced (I do have a relatively low track record, but including the Phoenix, the Jack Rabbit, etc. that should be saying something), and the third hill's airtime was also pretty strong. I normally have my hands up on coasters, but held on for this one even after the first hills, just so I didn't get as beat up. The second half was more bearable. All in all, it's still a great ride that can only get better as work continues on the ride, and I'm happy Conneaut beat the odds and managed to get the ride up and running again.

Unless the Blue Streak's NADs have been modified, I would assume they would have the same restraints as the Thunderbolt's NADs, where it is just a lapbar. I also noticed that the trains need a small bit of TLC as well, but even so, they are in remarkable shape. All that needs to be done that I see is restoring the headlights on the front (where the 'eyes' are as seen on CLP's Facebook page).

For a 'mild' kiddie coaster to begin with, something like a Wacky Worm could work, but if you want to try a 'real' coaster, I'd suggest the Waldameer Park Comet (though I can't remember the height requirement offhand). It's smooth as glass, considerably mild, but still a fun ride with a few tiny hints of airtime.

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Myself replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After stopping at Delgrosso's Amusement Park yesterday, I decided to take a look at their Wikipedia page and found some interesting edits: As much as I don't trust Wikipedia edits, this person made similar claims about the Monster at Lakemont being removed, which turned out to be true. I can say that as a KW employee we heard rumors of a new coaster being built almost three months before Sky Rocket was announced, so I can see where this person may be coming from. The inside of the train loop is prime space for a wooden coaster, and if the Space Spiral and Casino were to be removed (the Round-Up and Trabant respectively), then the park could built a station in that area without the need for a pedestrian railroad crossing. Thoughts?
