  1. These ones are peeves I have as a kiddie ride op: -Line jumpers. I have had parents get into fights with each other because I've been too busy making sure x kid doesn't misbehave on this ride to notice whether y kid or z kid was in line first. -Parents who whine endlessly about why their kid should be able to ride when they're at least five inches above the maximum height restriction. -Kids who stay by the entrance to your ride and bug you for two hours because they can't ride. (I do not exaggerate) -Parents who want to ride on a ride that is obviously too small for them. -Kennywood has a rule that does not allow parents to help their kids onto the rides (only the ones with a maximum height restriction). Even though I have some trouble understanding the logic of this rule, I still find it annoying when a parent whine on and on about the rule. -Parents who do not let their children ride as a result of said rule. Why don't you just tell me you can't trust me? Quite an insult IMO. -In the event that a child has a certain physical/mental disability the parent is sometimes given special permission (in the form of a small slip of paper issued by the front gate) to help the child board the ride. What I hate are parents that, seeing one of these events, automatically assume they are allowed to do the same when their child is perfectly fine. -Parents who unlock the gates and walk their child in when you're on the other side of the ride helping kids on over there. -Parents who can't wait for you to help the other 3 kids off the ride and either unlock the gate or climb the fence and retrieve the child themselves. -If there are more people in line, you must load until either the line has gone or the ride is filled. Of course, people show up the moment you are about to start the ride, and then people complain that you are taking too long. -Stupid people ("Does the kiddie Phantom go upside down?") -Kids who walk around the entire length of the ride three times before finally settling on the seat that was right in front of the entrance. -Parents who can't differentiate between the words minimum and maximum. I will stop here because in spite of these and more I truly do enjoy working at the park, and with each point I add I sound more like a hypocrite.
  2. I hate only being able to find black and white pictures. I also hate when the 'add photo' function doesn't work. I could've cheated by using an existing photo of nuns riding the old Pippin, but that would be the lame way out and the Pippin used different trains. If anyone finds this offense I will remove it.
  3. It's not just Intamins etc. The Pounce Bounce, Kennywood's frog-hopper style kiddie ride (with seating on all four sides) is also very weight sensitive and during the summer we often had to re-arrange people because the car was off balance. In case you're wondering, the exact ride type of the Pounce Bounce is a Zamperla Jumpin' Star 16.
  4. Yup...real easy...it's the Thunderbolt. Go ahead. Photo courtesy of myself, Myself!
  5. You can't really compare Cedar Point and Kennywood very well because Cedar Point is a major theme park and Kennywood is a traditional amusement park. Don't forget, though, Kennywood hasn't been afraid to compete with the theme parks--- for a few years in the 90s we were home to the world's tallest and fastest rollercoaster (beating out the Magnum) and the world's tallest drop tower.
  6. Roller Coaster at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach
  7. I always thought it would make a nice Chance Toboggan replica, but since you can't bend the track that far you're pretty much out of luck for the u-turn at the top of the lift hill...
  8. Probably those of Kennywood's wooden ravine coasters. The prelift is half of the ride on the Jack Rabbit and a major part of the Thunderbolt.
  9. Silverwood looks like a nice place. Great TR. Is that a permanently-raised Paratrooper I see? I didn't think any still existed.
  10. ^I'm sure that's just an attempt to make it look like a gradually increasing drop or a drop at an angle that you can't get in the game. Anywho, this is one of my favorite parks on here! Can't wait to see your next update.
  11. Great photos! This truly does look like an amusement park right out of the 50s. I'd love to visit it sometime, it looks so pretty with all the lights and it also has a lot of classic rides, some of which (Loop-O-Plane, rock-O-Plane) can't be found anywhere around here. Didn't they have a Roll-O-Plane at one point as well? They featured this park on PBS' "Great Old Amusement Parks" and I think I remember seeing one.
  12. On Friday I was asked if the Phantom's revenge was a roller coaster.
  13. All of my favorite dark rides are now defunct. Sure, I love Ghostwood Estate, but even if I ever get to ride the great classics that still exist elsewhere in the world, Le Cachot, Gold Rusher and the old Old Mill (before that Garfield abomination) will always be at the top of my list.
  14. At Kennywood I was once asked where the 'water logs' were. I had to do a triple take before I realized I was indeed hearing her right and that she meant the Log Jammer. Also, as a Kiddieland ride op there, I have to say: if the ride has a maximum height restriction (out of the 14 rides in Kiddieland 6 of them allow adults to ride) then parents CANNOT RIDE. You can't make exceptions for kids who are too tall either. I have had people argue/beg/whatever with me for almost 3 minutes. Sometimes, it's just common sense (does it LOOK like you're going to fit into the plane/helicopter/whip car etc.?).
  15. I'm a Kiddieland ride op at Kennywood and when we were learning how the Lil' Phantom worked we took turns riding so we could learn how the train would behave with different amounts of weight in it (i.e. if it's full it goes further before stopping) and I rode on it 14.5 times, with a brief break after the 7th lap. I say 14.5 because one of the other ride ops in training accidentally let the lift shut off when we were cresting the hill on what would have been lap 8 and the train rolled back (no anti-rollbacks on this kiddie coaster) into the station at a much faster speed than it does on a normal circuit! As a normal guest, I don't usually ride things more than once in a row, but my record is 5 cycles on Kennywood's whip. Fun times.
  16. I'm trying to create a new scenario and the scrollbar on the small scenery selector has randomly stopped working. It will not move no matter what I do. Please help me!
  17. Well, this sale doesn't seem to be quite as everyone made it out to be. It seems Kennywood Entertainment will still function just as it always has, just as a subsidiary of Parques Reunidos.
  18. In western PA as of right now, the lowest I've seen is $3.89 and the highest $4.03. (For unleaded)
  19. Having been at Kennywood today, I noticed that Robb appears on their KennyTV. KennyTV is basically a bunch of stuff about the park thrown together, but in one segment they talk about their guest services and catering. For those who are going in the near future, this segment begins with a man and a woman at the Merry-Go-Round. About halfway through the segment, we see Robb, fully clad in 2007 Midwest Trip hoodie, talking about how good the services at Kennywood are. Unfortunately, the segment neglects to mention his name.
  20. A download would've been nice... I loved the park and thought it was your best work. I hope for equal quality in your future parks.
  21. I had a cardinal land on my right shoulder today! Does that mean anything important? *Awaits all sorts of sarcastic answers*
  22. Dark blue T-Shirt that says 'If HOMEWORK is WORK...when do I get PAID!' on it Jeans Black boxers Plain white socks
  23. ^Totally would do what he said. Can't do a coaster for 24 hours...gotta eat and stuff. vWill be the next person to post in this topic.
  24. Despite every other school in the area (I'm serious, there were not other schools that didn't appear on the morning news) having a two hour delay, including the one that provides my bus ride in the morning, as well as ALL of the other ones that bus to my school, they somehow neglected to do it themselves. Now I'm missing classes and possible work and it's really annoying. Grrr.
  25. It's currently happening with RCT2 for me... Grrr...
