  1. Top Steel: 1. Top Thrill Dragster- yeah, its short, but it is one of the most insane and intense rides I've ever experienced. It's all about how much the ride thrills me and this one does that better than just about any other. 1. Phantom's Revenge- The twisting first drop is awesome. The second drop is incredible. Then, you encounter the most intense airtime I've ever experienced. It's downright violent. 1. Millennium Force- For me, its really hard for a coaster to be top-notch without having a great pace. This ride is the professor of pacing. 4. Raptor- One of the most intense coasters I've ever experienced. The elements are maneuvered at lightning pace. 5. Raging Bull- I’m more of a twister person than an out-and-back person, so I prefer this ride over Apollo’s Chariot. Once again, the recurring theme, it has a great pace. I love the turns. And since they turned off the final trims, the trains fly through the figure-8 finale. Stellar ride. Top Wood: 1. Georgia Cyclone- This coaster has everything I could ever ask for in a woodie (or any coaster for that matter). It has amazing pace, is incredibly intense, and never lets up. Simply awesome. 2. Son of Beast- I love the sheer size, but the double helix is amazing. 3. Legend- Quite possibly the single greatest first drop I‘ve ever experienced! Ride it in the back seat and you’ll know what I mean. Overall just a great ride. 4. Viper (SFGAm)- Very similar to the Georgia Cyclone. Has awesome forces and a great pace. 5. Beast- I love the out of control feeling that you get as you go through the course and the train continues to speed up. The 18 degree drop off the second lift hill down to the double helix is possibly my favorite portion of any roller coaster. To be honest, if Boss ran like it did opening year, it would be a contender for the number one spot. But, it doesn’t, so I can’t put it up there.
  2. I'm 19. My first coaster was the Beastie at PKI in about 1988 or '89. Though I was only 3 or 4, I remember a slight amount about that trip. I remember being taken on a coaster and being so scared 'cause I felt like I was 300 ft about the ground. Later in life, I identified this coaster as the Beastie.
  3. There is no contest for me on this one. Hands down, Phantom's Revenge. That ride's airtime is straight up violent. I can't even begin to describe it.
  4. I'm gonna have to go with GAcoaster on this one and agree that Flying Coaster is the worst. Six Flags has hit it pretty low with names like Scream, but Flying Coaster is just ridiculous. Scream is bad, but what is worse? Scream or Floorless Coaster?
  5. I'm not really sure. Six Flags Over Georgia is a really nice park. I wish the layout was a little bit better (like a circle maybe), but the park itself is really nice. It's got a great selection of coasters and rides and is really pretty. I'm also a fan of Six Flags Great America. When I think of an amusement park, this is the kind of park that pops into my head. This is just a nice park with awesome rides. I've lost a little bit of love for this park recently though. The last few times I've been, the park has been very crowded. I was also very disappointed when they removed the Shockwave. I've loved that coaster and it was such a part of the park's image to me. SUF is a great ride, but I still miss Shockwave.
  6. Awesome! This ride is really looking like a solid investment. Thanks for the pics Robb! Is anybody taking this thing for a sping this year?
  7. Ozark Wildcat, as well as Celebration City. This ride was greatly hyped, but after opening, not much else was mentioned of it. I can't help but wonder if the ride (and the park for that matter) didn't meet the hype or if there just aren't that many enthusiasts who have experienced. Any takers on this one? picture taken from coastergallery.com
  8. Ashlee Simpson- do I need to explain? Gene Simmons- Seriously, what was with the solo album? Give it up man
  9. Well, I didn't really start to fully like coasters until I forced myself to go on Hangman (now Kong at SFMW) at the now defunct Opryland when I was 10. Yeah, its an SLC, but this ride was actually awesome. I still remember it like it was yesterday. The coaster, at the time, was actually really smooth. Anyway, to answer the question, I would say I became a full blown enthusiast when I was in sixth grade. That's when I really started to hassle my 'rents to take me to parks.
  10. Actually, my home park, SFKK. Last year, I started noticing little things. The park was much cleaner, the landscaping was much nicer and maintained, and they started fixing other small issues. For example, they reopened the path between Thunder Run and the water park. I hadn't seen that path open since before the park was flagged. It seems they are making a conscious effort to turn things around. I think they recognize that its going to take a little bit more than adding a large attraction to their to park to fix it's problems.
  11. Yes I have, front seat on Millennium Force in 2002. We sat in the seat and they were having troubles with the restraints (of all things) and they asked us to step back in line. While they were fixing it, one of those infamous lake storms rolled in and pounded the crap out of us. We were in the best spot to be in though... First up on Millennium Force in the front seat. That was the single greatest ride on the Force I have ever experienced.
  12. Well, if you mean how many rides I've done in one day then it would be Greezed Lightnin' at SFKK on media day with 13. If you mean overall, then I would have to say probably Chang. I think I'm probably in the 50s on that one. I like to reride coasters, but not over and over and over.
  13. I think its awesome that SFNE is adding a Gerstlauer spinning coaster. I rode Timberland Twister at Camp Snoopy last summer and that thing, believe it or not, is awesome. Its just a really fun and thrilling coaster. I was quite impressed. I have plans to visit SFNE this summer so that makes the visit even better! That water ride looks pretty sweet too. I need to start visiting Six Flags' water parks. I might have to give SFNE's a try.
  14. It's hard for me to pick a favorite sometimes. But its pretty easy to narrow it down to three.... Phantom's Revenge, Dragster, and the Force. All three of those flip flop for my number one spot. They are all simply awesome.
  15. I'm really getting tired of donating plasma twice a week. While I'm in college, I don't really have the time to work an actual job. My major is rough and college is a big adjustment. This summer, for once, I'm terribly excited to have a real job. In honor of the IU/Purdue game tonight here at Assembly Hall, I would just like to recognize that Purdue's Mackey Arena is a much better venue. After all, at Mackey, you don't get those damn banners hanging in your view . Go Hoosiers! I wish my roommate would clean up his junk. I'm just complaining left and right today.
  16. I really like them if they are good and not too crowded. I love Blizzard Beach as well as Typhoon Lagoon. Those are easily the best I've been to. Splashin' Safari at Holiday World is good, but I'm starting to think that they are doing too well for themselves. The last time I went, the park was so crowded, there wasn't one slide that didn't have an hour+ wait. To me, that is ridiculous. I can't bring myself to wait that long for every slide in the park. Summit Plummet at BB is about the only slide I'll ever willingly wait more than an hour for. But yeah, for the most part, I really enjoy water parks.
  17. I've been on a number of rides when they have stopped in the middle of the course. The only time I ever had to get off was when Twisted Twins broke down once while I was on the lift hill and they ended up making us walk back down and around into the station. The big story however.... In 2001, I was on Face/Off at PKI. I was seated so that I rode it backward first and then forward. Well, as the train rolled up the second lift, I naturally fell forward on the restraint. When that happened, the restraint popped open. Aside from the incredible terror that overcame me, this was quite surprising because I'm not that big of a person. At the time, I was 5'10'' weighing in at about 160 lbs. Anyway, the safety belt of course prevented the harness from going all the way up, and in all reality, there is no way that I could have slipped out because the openings just weren't big enough, but I was definately no longer sitting in my seat. I was scared to death. The train went all the way up the lift and released. As the train went through the loop. I was able to push myself back into the seat and my harness then popped back into place. When we got back in the station, I informed the ride ops and they then shut the ride down for an hour (I was waiting in line for quite some time to ride DZ following the incident). My life was never in serious danger, but it still goes down as one of the scariest things I've ever experienced.
  18. Yeah. Well, I was particularly wondering about pictures on this site. I was looking through the thread about posting pictures of your favorite drop ride and I noticed a lot of people were using pictures from your site. So I wasn't sure if they were just saving the pictures to their own pc and uploading them that way or if there was another way to do it. Thanks for the help Robb.
  19. I accidently posted the same thing twice. Could one of you delete this one? Sorry for the trouble. Thanks.
  20. My real name is Scott. I've been into coasters for about 9 years now. I've only been on exactly 100, but I'm hoping that number will greatly increase soon. I'm a pre-med major at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Aside from loving coasters, I'm a huge race fan, particularly Indycar and Formula 1, so I often incorporate a park or two when I go to races. It doesn't get much better than that . Robb, love the forums and of course the site. Great job.
  21. ^Are you serious!?!?!? That is awesome. That has always been my dream school. I tried to get in last year, but didn't get accepted. I'm currently applying for transfer though. However, I'm now starting to debate about whether or not I should go if I get in. Anyway, I'm startin' to get a little of topic so I'll end my bit. That's awesome though. If you're not a Gator then your Gatorbait!
  22. I don't suppose someone could post a tutorial on how to post pictures (like in the "picture of your favorite coaster" type threads) for all of us dumb kids out there 'cause I can't figure it out . Thanks a lot.
  23. Hey Robb, where did you go to college? Yeah...kind of a random question, but its something I'm always interested in knowing about people. Go Hoosiers! Elissa, did you go to college anywhere?
  24. Most of the coasters I really dislike nowadays (i.e. Iron Wolf) used to be amazing years ago. Some of my least favorite coasters overall would be Mean Streak and Great American Scream Machine (SFOG). I find these coasters to just be overall boring and sometimes painful. I can't really think of a truly bad coaster though. The lone coaster that I refuse to ride anymore is Iron Wolf. This ride has just become far too rough. It's really a shame because it wasn't too long ago that this ride was amazing. It used to be my favorite stand-up ahead of rides like Scorcher, Mantis, and Chang, but then it decided to start sucking. It's a shame.
  25. Well, I'm workin' at Cedar Point this summer so that is an obvious one. With that, I plan on hitting a few parks from the following list: Geauga Lake Michigan's Adventure SFDL PCW The second week of June, I'm going to the Texas Indycar race (I'm a huge race fan), so I have every intention of going to SFOT. During the last week of June, I will be going on an East Coast road trip hitting up Dorney, Hershey, Knoebel's, SFGAdv, Lake Compounce, and SFNE. I don't really know what the rest of the year will hold. If my transfer to UF goes through then I'll probably be hitting most of the parks in Florida but I really don't know. I would like to take a weekend trip to Atlanta sometime this year, which no trip to Atlanta is complete without a visit to SFOG . So this will be an interesting year. I have high hopes.
