PortAventura Discussion Thread

I am not sure how you could completely protect the riders from the cable without almost completely enclosing them. Because of the nature of the cable and its extreme length, it could feasibly enter the rider envelope from any side. As an aside, I loved this ride and rode it over a dozen times while there on the Spain trip last year. It does surprise me about the cable snap as PortAventura's ride maintenance seams top notch, though I guess accidents can happen everywhere. I can assure everyone HC was not run by lackadaisical teenagers, this thing was run by miltantly strict ride ops. -

An hour on the standup floorless side? Ouch. Although it is better than what could have happened had it dropped. -
I just got Wiifit, and I love it! I still play World of Warcraft (on feathermoon US) the most.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
Moose replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The other night while trying to fall asleep I began pondering this exact question. I cannot recall if it was Renegade (or something else at VF) or if I went to Lake Compounce later in the year. If that's the case, it would be Boulder Dash with Canobie Fan where we almost got thrown out of the park because of some homophobic little teenage girl. (I use the girl term loosely.) -
Best and Worst Log Flumes
Moose replied to gldude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have to agree with Larry and Rich, the Spanish log flumes all rocked. For the US, it's Dudley and Splash far above any others. -
I love my boyfriend and his hot a$$!

Photo TR: KNOEBELS!!....with a side of WDW
Moose replied to BeemerBoy's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
sh1t.... that stereotypical dimension seems to be spreading. If all gays like musicals and not football and beer, then add me to the list of str8s. But wait, does that mean i need to start liking women? -
Im not all that talented with words, so I won't do a full review, but i will say this: I cannot put it down. So much so my sleep pattern is getting screwed up because of it.

Nice report. Something for history buffs out there. And I don't mean park history. I believe that the round stone in this pic is actually an old grinding wheel from a mill. Actually, i just noticed that the square stones look salvaged as well. I wonder where they're all from.

Photo TR: Connor Giove's "on-growing" adventures.
Moose replied to pete4winds's topic in Random, Random, Random
Wow, that slide has really grown over since i've been there. In High school we used to run there, play on teh slide and then run back for cross country practice. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the carousel at Battleship Cove from Lincoln Park? Hope you and Conor enjoyed the Big Red Slide! -
The sad thing is, I don't think he was thinking with that head.

THIS Saturday? THIS? Well sh1t. I thought it was next Friday or Saturday. This Saturday I am booked solid with a 1st and 40th Birthday party. I would rather credit wh0re, but alas, I cannot meet up with the roadtrip in CT. But we'll always have Paris. As far as powered coasters... I only have ridden two so it doesn't really matter all that much. (damn you Tren Bravo for hiding from us) I always tend towards thinking they should count. I am pretty sure they change speed due to changes in potential energy (aka drops) so it seems like it acts like a coaster. Also is an impulse really all that different? It gets numerous bursts of power from the lims, which seems pretty similar to me.

Oh Em Gee. I cannot believe last night's show. Never thought that would happen. I don't want to say anything else and spoil this great great ending of the show for anyone.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Moose replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Hmm, to me black grey, and maybe a bit of red accents seems more fitting to dominator. That pic looks a lot more like repair work to galvanizing that has failed locally. To repair it, they probably ground off the zinc and the steel underneath rusted as it always does when it is exposed. -
You recall correctly. You will most likely see it again in Europe. I usually wear it at least once on every vacation as that is how I originally got my job. It started a conversation with my then future boss who was also a Cornell Alum. Which then led to an interview... and i was hired.

Was Liz Waving or saying "Stop with the &*%@$ing pictures?" -
Ithaca? Wow, you don't see many people on a rollercoaster board want to go there, though it is absolutely beautiful. I believe there is a nice campsite at Robert H Treman, but i have never been so I am not sure of that. As far as driving to/from there. I believe it is about 4-5 hours between SFNE and Ithaca (Take Rte 206 off of Rte 88, not 81, it saves about a half hour and you go through a few cute villages), and about 6 to Cedar Point.

For the first time (as far as I remember) The Coaster page is getting blocked by my filter for having too many bad words on the page. What are you all writing about coasters?

I think most people here are misunderstanding this like you did. Currently the maximum cloud size is about 4 feet across. Not big puffy clouds, but technically clouds nonetheless.

You control that they rise by the inclusion of helium, but besides that, there is no way to control them. Where they go is determined by the wind. It basically is the same exact thing that happens with a balloon release.

From Wired I think this actually sounds pretty cool and it seems like a much more environmentally friendly way to do something like the balloon launches. Click on the link at the top for a photo of an example of these "flogos"
