Isla Magica. All the Spanish parks had amazing man watching, but Isla took the cake because it was so hot out. Though seeing the wild west performers at PortAventura put on a show before the officail one was quite nice too. It's really no wonder that I loved Spain.

The only things i have planned are Europe and tentatively meeting up with Raptorcouple at Knoebels. I may try and hit Canobie with the fan himself.

I do not have a problem with some sort of government safety program as long as it does not go too far. But there are things that should be done, like requiring a well documented inspection program and certain safety modifications to rides that have had problems elsewhere. It's something that most big parks do anyway. But it is not always done in fairs and carnivals. Leaving this up to the state causes the problem that these rides are mobile and can easily cross state lines, so without some sort of federal guidelines the operator can simply go to a different state and basically ignore what another state says.

I would love to have more information on what they are doing differently with the foundations because of the bluff. Heck any information about foundations for any coaster would make me happy. -

Yes, they have all three sets of wheels. But what I meant was that they aren't as tight to the track. There's some freedom of movement on woodies that steel coasters don't have. SLC wheels aren't free to move? -

^I was explaining why it would be more expensive than Hades, because it could never be done a la Hades. I disagree agree about the tunnel being cooler, unless you mean cooler in temperature . I like bridges and this one will be unique. It will also be more beautiful than a concrete ditch could ever hope to be. -

The problem with a tunnel on an open road is the construction of it. Pretty much all coaster tunnels (including both Hades' and Voyage's) are built by the cut and cover method. THis is basically digging a ditch and then covering over it. This is fine when the tunnel is going under nothing (like voyage) or a parking lot that the park owns (a la Hades), or even park paths (Like SFNE's Supes), but it becomes a logistical nightmare when it is a public road. Traffic would have to be diverted. The other method of building a tunnel, tunneling, is much more expensive and much more dangerous. The water table wouldn't have been too big a problem, there are tunnels and basements of buildings that go under the water table all the time. -

I am guessing the bridge ain't cheap, but it is necessary. I am sure the location also adds to the cost of the ride's foundations. -

KidTums Goes To Her First Christmas Party!

Probably because she saw the bubbles at Gymboree first, they're 'special'. Get a snow machine, they're loud, but every kid I know loves it and so do I! But with the "home" bubbles, you can pop them and then go and touch mommy and daddy's things. And the furniture. And their eyes. So much more fun imo. I think i may have to go pick up some bubbles. -

Very very cute, as always. It's interesting that the home bubbles are not as fascinating as gymboree bubbles. I wonder if theirs contain crack. -
Jimmy Buffet - Overkill It's always nice to hear some steel drums on rainy/icey/snowy grey days.

The Maure Sohne Skyloops have just enough hangtime to make them interesting, especially in the front when waiting for the back of the train to get up the lift. I loved Abismo.

I am so glad that there were no football overuns and i got to see the entire episode. Though it really didnt matter much since i watched it live after last week's mess. (my Tivo was sooo confused, You aren't taping this or even something else? Are you feeling ok? Did I do something wrong?) Still not feeling the love for a few teams. Team Hernia dad drives me nuts. As does the son on Team Skuzzy Granpa. I don't think team "Bitch"'s relationship is going to survive the race. I think I like the team that won tonight the Best.

YouTube to host Holiday World Announcement
Moose replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^It's called marketing. If you can make the public excited over smaller rides, then you are doing it right. It is important to get yourself noticed all the time not just when you add huge roller coasters, hence the announcement for some smaller ride. -
Mitch's Coaster Poll
Moose replied to ScubaSteve442's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Dave, I recieved one after i submitted my poll. -
Drinking beer is pretty minor on the list of what some (not all) construction workers use on (or before) the job. It really is no suprise that I go out the jobsite and see stuff done wrong. What scares me is the person responsible for overseeing their work doesn't notice. It drives me bonkers becuase I'm not supposed to be out there inspecting stuff, but when stuff goes wrong, we'll be blamed.

Mitch's Coaster Poll
Moose replied to ScubaSteve442's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think you'd still get some of the tomfoolerly with rankings by some people, but not as a reaction to others' ballots. Peeps will still know what the top tenish coasters would probably be and if they are desperate enough to have "their" coaster high on the list, they'd just rank the others lower. Hopefully the "insert park here" fanboys balance each other out and the results end up somewhat valid, or as valid as any opinion poll can be. -
That sounds like a great Christmas gift and quite useful in Rochester too.

I go to watch TAR last night and what did Tivo get, 60 minutes.... grrr. I hate CBS for messing with their schedule. Just cut 60 min, noone watches it anyway. I guess i'll havee to wait for TVw/outpity's recap.

At least 5 camels dealt with per team, one of which got milked. Who could ask for anything more? Lost another interesting team. The granfather was kind of scuzzy.
