^^ When you mean "make sense" do you mean your dreams accurately applying to events that have happened or will happen? Or do you mean "make sense" as in your ability to comprehend what's happening, not necessarily whether it can be a realistic situation or not? Two nights ago, I had a dream we were at Marching Band, and we all got on the bus to go to Tennessee. (We really are in real life.) But 6 hours later we got back home - it's a 13 hour trip to where we are going. (Dollywood is in the trip.) Apparently the bus driver did a 6 hour loop, just as a prank to all us students. Then I asked one of the seniors who was visiting (those who are graduating and going off to college that year aren't allowed to join in the next season, save for the Memorial Day parade because they will leave to college a few weeks into the season.) when we got back, and he said that they do this every year as a prank before they actually go on the trip, and then I said "So that's why you were laughing." Yeah, in real life, they don't do that - it's an unneccessary waste of gas $ and we already know the day we are going on all the trips.

^^ That's pretty much exactly what I do, except I stop at the end of the song time. Now that I'm older my parents or the person who brings me to the park will allow me to go off on my own more, so that will be better. (I know this gives me problems occasionally - my Hersheypark segment this year has WAAAAAAAY too much Great Bear and Comet footage, and not enough of anything else, so I will try that other film method.) But, I have another question: What should I do for the times when I see a REALLY good vantage point for a shot, but I end up waiting a lot for slow ride ops/ride malfunctions? (For example, I waited about 25 minutes for the last Kumba shot in BGA part 2, and about 15+ minutes for the first Cyclone shot in SFNE part 1.)

I would say looking at your videos that you need more raw footage. Like Matt and Erik, I take about 60 to 90 minutes of footage at a park that created a 3 to 5 minute segment. --Robb More raw footage as in less segments with music in the background or more raw footage as in simply film a lot more? (Luckily, I'm old enough that my parents will start letting me go on my own to parks - they will drop me off, and then pick me up later, or my mom will split off and do her own thing and we meet up somewhere every few hours - so now I don't have to drag the family around as much, meaning more film can get in.)

Does anyone know of a program that will change AVI to WMV files? Apparently my videos were more problematic than I thought.
-
Exactly. I spend hours trying to find a song that fits the park perfectly. For example: my Adventure Island video. I really don't like Come On, Come In by Velvet Revolver that much, but it fits the park quite well. Except I go around it a different way: I find the song that fits the park beforehand, and I film the amount of time that the song is. Let's say the song is 3:52, so I film 3:52 of coasters - I do that because I often like my footage so much that it's really hard to decide what's worth cutting and what isn't. But I might try it the traditional way at a park this season. I also do it that way because I want to ride coasters as well, not just film them.

^^I was wondering what the paperweight was to be used for. But dang, if they even thought to knock her out, these kids are smart. In the bad way. -
Coaster Videos from the 1980s

^Oh. I haven't seen videos that often, but from what I remember, it seemed pretty fast paced. Not super fast like Avalanche, but good. (I never went to Knoebels before, so I don't know for sure.) -

Wow, people said that Mister Twister was awesome and stuff, but that looked like it had some real pacing problems in several parts of the ride. However, the videos were good though. -
[NL] Missile
Tanks4me05 replied to DBru's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I made a 275 foot tall B&M Hyper Coaster with a 110+ degree drop, with a full 8 car (or maybe even 9 car, I can't remember, I can't check it now because NL is having weird problems) and although I had to put a 40+ foot long section of trims at the top, the airtime in the back still reached major ejector air and the speed was over 80 mph, and kept its speed up througout the 6,000 - 7,000+ foot long ride. So, yes, those types of coasters are possible, it's just that its a little too innovative for the minds of today. I like to think ahead. Decades ahead. -
Although Flying Dive Machines would be cool, the experience of being out on the edge of the track will be moot, because you are already facing the ground. BUT, if they make use of overbanked turns and maybe some large "Furius Baco" style Barrel Rolls, etc. then the Flying Dive Machine would be freaking amazing.
-
Well, there you go. It will be a B&M flyer going in next year. Hmmm, potentially a flying dive machine? Now THAT sounds cool. Manta Rays do grow to around 20 feet wide or so, so making the cars about as wide as a Manta Ray (although they are not Sting Rays) would be an interesting way to keep up with theming.

A few days ago it recently hit a record high for our area of about $3.51 a gallon. Yeah, not much by some people's standards, (holy crap, $3.51=cheap?!) but cheaper means better. Hopefully this will be an incentive to go to biofuels.

Backpacking Japan: What MUST I see! ...Park-wise

Oh, I almost forgot: Baishinji Park. http://rcdb.com/ig3024.htm?picture=2 I call this place RCT land for a reason. -

I might also mention these parks: (I have never been out of the GMT-5 Timezone, so my opinions of the parks are purely from other people's TR's and rcdb pictures.) Rusutsu Resort - Let's just put it this way, they have the only Togo Ultratwister with a DIVE LOOP. Japan Monkey Park - It has monkeys, need I say more? Lina World - for some reason, I think the atmosphere of this park is amazing. -

http://rcdb.com/pr.htm?pstatus=141&location=26417 Here is a list of all existing Japan parks as of this time. Here is my criteria for a park: If it doesn't have any rcdb pictures, and if it doesn't have any coasters larger than a kiddie coaster, I won't go to that park, unless people have mentioned that this place is awesome even without a family or larger coaster, I will go then. There are nearly 40 parks in Japan that fit that criteria, but the total list is currently at 121. -

^ I am so happy that people think that NY isn't a crap state for coasters. Hopefully some people will do a Sylvan Beach add on, because if someone doesn't go to Sylvan Beach, you are missing out on a very awesome hidden gem of a park. Sure, two rides need new fencing, and so does a third, but that was probably from a truck running into it as it is very close to the road and seems to be "bent" inward, and Galaxi needs a new coat of paint, but everything else is awesome! And they just got TGE's old Rotor, and a mini golf course, which IMO needs paths, they are just placed in a field with picket fencing, maybe they are working on it as we speak. Be sure to ride Laffland, it's one of the last original Pretzel Dark Rides remaining. All but 2 of the "stunts" are originally from when this ride first debuted in around 1954, and its in very good condition. -Tanks "New York is better than most people say it is, save for Astroland because frankly that place really is a dump" 4me05. -

IMO it actually looks kinda nice. Not super heavily themed, but still pretty nice. Save for the Flitzer. Why the heck is a FLITZER in HRP? They could have put in an old Schiff/Molina and Sons/whoever kiddie coaster and made that nice instead. -
^^ Is there a way that I can edit out part of the video? (Chop off the second half.)

I have known about this for many months. IMO that was not a good decision. Gyrosphere is VERY unique, as there is only one other like it that I know of, and I think its in the midwest. Indiana Beach, maybe? But, Seabreeze is a very small park, and they have to add new rides in somehow. The cool thing about Gyrosphere is that it had a different light show every year. Although that ride is fun, it shouldn't be the only reason to go there. Overall, it's a great family park - they have Jack Rabbit, the oldest continually operating roller coaster on the planet (all the other rides that are older than Jack Rabbit have been SBNO for at least one season, and in Wild One at SFA's case - was moved.) They also have Bear Trax, a nice kiddie coaster, a log flume with a pretty darn steep drop, a really fun Maurer Söhne Spinner, and last but not least - Bobsleds. That ride is really weird and messed up. In the good way. Surprisingly forceful for a 31 foot tall, 23 mph ride - 18 inch high bunny hops right out of the station, several dips and turns, and uses a "heavy duty chain lift" as a brake run. -
^Exactly. And I could be going on Tennessee Tornado in October if the gas prices for those coach buses won't get too high. (Marching Band Trip - 13 hour coach bus ride!!!) In terms of track smoothness, Viper is very smooth. In terms of the restraint comfort - mild roughness. Some head banging, but not much, and it's not bad. But I honestly think that a heck of a lot of people on here are very pampered, calling the slightest "rattle" rough - I.E. B:TDK and Hydra.
