^*cough*Stealth*cough* While Bizarro would make a nice addition to SFSTL, I don't see it happening for a couple reasons. The first being, I can't think of a place in the park where it could be placed. The park is very hilly, and looking at Google Maps, the only possible place might be the picnic grove. The second is that it is too large of a coaster for a park the size of SFSTL. The park already has a sit-down looping coaster, a B&M invert, and a launched coaster. For a park the size of SFSTL, a floorless coaster wouldn't be a good decision IMO, and if it were added, I think it would have the popularity issues that it faces at SFGADV. If they were to get a new looping coaster, something more along the lines of a Euro-fighter would make a better fit. Something relatively low cost, unique, custom, and while not awe-inspiring, is still a solid ride.

Help plan SFStL, HW, WoF, SFGAm trip
Airtime&Gravity replied to megametal's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The trip is doable. I can't comment on the rain policies of Holiday World or Worlds of Fun, but it takes a lot for Six Flags to close. The only problematic rides you might run into are V2 and Raging Bull which will close if the weather is an issue. There are some other parks you might want to consider if you want to credit whore including Grizzly Jacks Enchanted Forest in Utica(2hrs from SFGAM) or the Azoosment Park in East Dundee(1hr from SFGAM). The drive from WoF to Gurnee will be extremely boring, so you might want to take a little break if you want/have time. Neither park is terribly expensive, and Enchanted Forest is right by Starved Rock State Park if you are into nature/culture. Edit, SFGAM will close down rides in rain, but from my experience, it takes either a lot of rain or a thunderstorm. The only exceptions are the aforementioned Raging Bull and V2. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

I wasn't very enthusiastic when this coaster was announced, but now looks like a far better ride than I thought it would be. While, I to agree that it is an eyesore, the ride itself looks like a lot of fun. -

^trust me, you wouldn't want to ride an El Loco without brakes. Having ridden the one at Indiana Beach, it'll be interesting to see how bad the lines will get, even if this ride does have double the capacity. The ride, like the others, should be a lot of fun, although the theming looks to be a bit of a letdown compared to what the park has done in the past.

I'm not sure if they're in storage, but I can see some of the flats from Looney Tunes National Park going into the area by Camp Cartoon behind Spacley's Sprocket Rockets. As for where the entrance is, who knows. I'd like to see a major flat ride or two or a dark ride built. It's been a long time since we've had a flat ride built, and something like a Gerstlauer Sky Fly or S&S Screamin Swing would be great. Then again, who knows. Maybe we'll end up with SFNE's Flashback in that area...hell, paint it green and call it Deja vu.

Beech Bend Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to Jonathan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
www.waldameer.com/attractions_coasters.asp Ah okay, I guess I'm mistaken, but Waldameer's felt no where near as tall or thrilling as Kemah's or Morey's, weird... I agree, when I went to Waldameer the drop tower didn't seem anywhere near 140' tall, and I thought it was only around 100'. In that case, I hope it does end up being an ARM tower that gets built. The one at Waldameer is terrifying, but it is still insanely fun. It would make a great addition to a small park like Beech Bend. -

Those ARM drop towers are terrifying, but are my favorite drop tower I've ridden. Although, 140ft seems really high for ARM though, is it possible that we could see something from Moser? I don't see the park getting one from S&S(although that would be great too), but no matter what, this will be a great addition for the park. Airtime-if I do end up going to Kentucky next year, I'll be working hard to stop-&Gravity -
Waldameer Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to Millennium ForceJZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Same here. I went to Waldameer as a last minute stop this past summer while my parents decided to go to some winery. It is such a great park, and it's sad there aren't more parks like it across the country. Considering it's just a local park in a small market, many places across the country could probably support a park like it. Other than Ravine Flyer II, there wasn't anything that was amazing by itself, but together with the location and service, made it a great park. Great news to hear about the improvements. I'm not sure where they'll put the swing ride, but I'm sure the owners will find a way. Also great news to hear about Comet. The ride op worked fast, but even though the ride is small, a small train will still cause a small line to have a long wait time. Great news to hear about a great park getting even better. -
I hope that whatever they decide to put in its place still has a cheesy but awesome look like the old facade. The ride to my knowledge is fairly new(for water rides), so this comes as a surprising move. Is there any word as to the extent of "some new internal scenes"? I can't imagine there were too many scenes to begin with, so are they going with an entirely new story, or will this be more along the lines of the Monster Mansion/Plantation makeover that occurred a couple years back? I've heard many great things about this ride, and it would be sad to see it ruined. However, given Blackpool's current reputation, I'm a little concerned.

Great updates and videos. I'm really intrigued to find out more about the new Vekoma coaster going into China, as well as the first entirely new Rocky Mountain coaster. A lot of interesting ride and theming concepts too, and hopefully we start to see them show up soon. Theming seems to be of a higher priority in European parks, but parks back here seem to be adding more now. The zipline looked great, and it would be awesome to see even small ones like at the expo show up at parks in the states. They probably would take up little space, be fairly affordable, and parks could probably find a creative place to put one easily. The Big Fun coaster was also interesting. I recall GCI coming up with other stock models in the past, but if one truly has been sold, I believe that would be a first. I can't think of many American parks that would build one, although there are some parks I hope do, but I could see some European parks pick one up.

^ Considering Congress can't do anything at the moment, I wouldn't worry about it. Now, I'm against piracy, but if the wording is as weak as it is, I'm sure there are going to be a lot of problems. I might quickly read the bill, but from what I've heard, having any third party copyrighted material or linking to a site that does can get a site blocked. That is unacceptable, but if the bill is rewritten to only go after piracy or blatant copyright infringement, I can support it. Also, fun fact, it is a crime to be part of a web community and not use your real name. That means, nearly every member of TPR, and every other forum/community, can technically be charged with charges relating to hacking.

Andy Shine's Quiz Time
Airtime&Gravity replied to Simon Baynham's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
11/20 - Most I knew from books, but 3-4 were guesses. -
1. El Toro - I don't think I need to explain why. Not the first drop, but still count: Beast - I'm kind of cheating since this is for the second main drop being just a ramp. It was unique to gradually build up speed before entering the helix. Thunderbolt - Also not the "first" drop, but the drop and unbanked turn after the lift are great. It doesn't look that tall, but I was surprised at how intense it was.

Legoland Florida Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Legoland Florida is looking a lot better than I expected. When the project was announced with a 2011 opening date, I wasn't expecting much to be done as there didn't seem to be enough time, and I was mainly expecting some infrastructure improvements, Miniland, and some theming added throughout the park. Merlin seems to have gone all out, and given the time they've had, have built a really nice park. I know that there was going to be some road work done to make the park more accessible, but given the parks location, even with the improvements, is the park still difficult to get to? Airtime-Also, those Lego figures in the ski show are pretty terrifying-&Gravity -
Andy Shine's Quiz Time
Airtime&Gravity replied to Simon Baynham's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
13/20 - It was a hard quiz, and I got lucky basing my decisions off of the names or locations of the park (others were just pure luck). -
My list: American Eagle - The new queue is long, but it's still shorter than the previous one with all the switchbacks which I only remember seeing used once or twice. The old set of switchbacks filled the old circus tent where Kidzopolis is now. Viper's exit queue Phantom's Revenge Boss Flight Deck(KI) B:TR(SFSTL) - It wouldn't be so bad if it were themed, but it's just in a field. Mr. Freeze(SFSTL) Vortex(KI) - It's not that long but rather unique. The queue runs right along the midway before it snakes its way through/around the station.

Coolest station you've seen
Airtime&Gravity replied to Eric_Smith's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My List: Lakeside's Cyclone - Classic art deco station Top Thrill Dragster - Probably one of the most architecturally stunning stations Mystery Mine - Well themed Viper(SFGAM) - Also well themed, especially by Six Flags standards El Toro - Yes it is second hand and small, but it is still a nice station. Flight of Fear - While it can be a bit cheesy in parts, mainly the videos, it was nice to see theming to the level that it was. -
