  1. I'm almost positive that you are wrong about those track connectors being wood. I'd be willing to guess that they are closer to (if not identical to) the steel "feet" connectors found on the other IBox coasters that attach the steel ledger to the steel track (No wood at all). Here's a close-up image of Twisted Colossus. These feet are hinged to fit the track at the perfect angle. There's no logical way that wood could be used as a sufficient connector at this high stress area. This connector is the primary point that keeps the track on the structure. ps- I don't think what you circled in the last picture is anything at all, maybe surface from further back?
  2. I'm sure people thought 400-footers to be sketchy at first, but now they are the crowns of their amusement parks! Don't get too sketchy about it, i'm sure it will be a typical Intamin process: Open > Close for some maintenance issue > Opens again and people love it. Guess we'll just need to wait and see! I don't think he is saying that the coaster itself would be sketchy, rather the reality of the entire project actually getting built in the first place.
  3. technically indeed. I feel, with the way RMC is excelling in the market, it won't be long until they are manufacturing their own giant steel supports. ( RMC giga ) " The future of coasters! ". ( hopefully! ) Well Goliath's lift hill structure is a huge steel support structure, so maybe they've already started?
  4. The new renderings are beautiful, that train looks like a mix between a mine car and Powder Kegs trains. Might we see a new animation soon?
  5. i'm pretty sure RMC will not be building Wildfire, they just sold the track. Untrue, RMC will fabricate and contract the whole coaster. The only other other company involved is Vekoma, who only handles the business side in the Euro installation(s).
  6. Prowler isn't too smooth anymore either (apparently)
  7. Six Flags Great America in October! I found great prices to fly out ther, so I will go out and visit the park for the first time, it's my last major Six flags park left!
  8. I'm excited to see track start to go up on this coaster. I have a feeling that once we start to see the real layout forming, people are going to get WAY more excited than when it was initially announced. Let's wait and see if I'm right!
  9. Cedar Point's coaster lineup is unlike anything! Between Valravn, Maverick, GateKeeper, Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Magnum, and Raptor, they have 7major coasters! And they are all quality! When coasters like Rougarou and Wicked Twister are not even in the top 7 major coasters at a park, you know it's an insane lineup! I can't wait to ride Valravn next year! Any park with 4 huge B&Ms and 4 huge Intamins is a must visit in my book!
  10. Considering that one day I would like to ride every B&M, RMC, and major Intamin coaster in the world, I will attempt to limit my list to 10 coasters overall! 1. Lightning Rod 2. Expedition GeForce 3. Wildfire (Kolmarden) 4. T Express 5. Medusa Steel 6. Fury 325 7. Voyage 8. Balder 9. Helix 10. Wood Coaster (Knight Valley) Honorable mentions go to my remaining RMCs (Wicked Cyclone, Storm Chaser, Goliath, Joker), the remaining Intamins (Goliath-Walibi, Colossos, any Mega Lite, iSpeed), some larger B&Ms (Nemesis, Leviathan, Katun, Shambhala), and some other misc. coasters (Ravine Flyer, Phantom's Revenge, Lightning Run, Atlantis Adventure). I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting!
  11. I agree about LR looking better (in fact I think Lightning Rod may be the best coaster ever once it opens), but I disagree on Storm Chaser. From my experience on 4 RMCs, I prefer straight airtime hills to the reverse banked hills and curves. Roar also has a considerably longer layout, where Storm Chaser is a bit short. But I'm very excited for next year, and if my plans work out, I will ride all three of the new ones (plus Goliath), and can accurately compare 8 out of 9 US RMCs (except WC). I do think Storm Chaser looks amazing too!
  12. I'm so very pleased with this design! There's so many airtime hills, and that drop looks insane! After riding OR, and TC, Im sure that these inversions will be some of the best out there! The way I see it, Roar's footprint is really just a lot of turns without many straights sections, yet they've really managed to squeeze as many airtime moments into it as possible! I think it's the best I could've hoped for with what Roar was. And if those straight hills are sustained ejector (like the blue side under the stall of TC), then it could very well be in my top 3. We shall wait and see!!! I'm very excited to have this so close to me!
  13. Holy crap, this is kinda awesome! I hope it's successful, a lot of neat stuff there! The retheme of Coyote looks cool! (Now they have two Joker "coasters")
  14. Dumbest post of the night! I apologize for being so negative. I suppose I'll explain myself: After hearing tons of glowing reviews, I was looking forward to Batman at SFFT for months before my trip. When I rode it last month, I just wasn't feeling the ride, I was pretty bummed I didn't like it either. I found the restraints uncomfortable and the train really jerky. It then broke down with me sitting on the brake run for 15-20 mins. The vests on the train tighten like a seatbelt (Or like Wild Eagle) and it affects my collar bones a lot., so sitting for that long perhaps made my experience even worse. Overall, this was my least favorite "large" coaster at SFFT, I even preferred the (quite amazing) mine train. I just wish SFGAdv went with something different based on my personal experience. Now I will say I prefer this to Green Lantern at SFMM, but I cannot say that I would look forward to this coaster unless the keep the restraints from locking and tightening during the ride, and improve the hard, plastic seats. Maybe (hopefully) my experience was just a fluke, but my rides were just not enjoyable. Best wishes on this one being better, I suppose. Again, sorry for my negativity.
  15. Look again at the underside (top side?) of the train. This new version has an added round cover that the original doesn't have.
  16. The train design is completely different.... All of you people are in such denial... You are NOT getting a bigger version, this is it... Deal with it.
  17. Look at the park's current line up. 5 B&M's (The most at any single park), the tallest coaster in the world, and El freakin' Toro... With coasters that great to choose from, this coaster is a POS... Not to mention how uncomfortable and low capacity it is, but others will disagree with me there.
  18. Call me crazy, but I am really not buying this. . . Until it comes straight from Six Flags then I am not going to believe it. For some reason I don't believe this "Tammy Duffy" really knows anything more than anyone else. If you watch this video, and the it is damn near the same video. Same shots of the coaster, except maybe mirrored, and same music... It just looks like someone had some fun with some video editing software. While yes Six Flags could use similar promo videos for the two coasters I highly doubt the two videos would be this similar. Maybe I'm on my own here, but I really don't think this is the real deal. If it is I will be surprised, but for now I am not holding my breath. I know a thing or two about video editing and I can definitely say that that this video was not made from the SFFT Batman video. The background rides fit in too well with the video for it to be a person having fun with video editing software. What this most likely is was the animation company doing a copy and paste of the Batman ride model and animation in to the Great Adventure park model. The reason some of the animations and music are identical is probably because they were just placeholders until they could come up with new ones for the final video we may see tomorrow. This probably an unfinished trailer for the ride that got leaked. Also the animated trains have a completely different design. Clearly legit
  19. 2015 was a pretty good coaster year though. I meant the coaster drought at SFGAdv.
  20. The leak from last week is clearly legit, so no one needs to "guess" there. I'm hoping they will increase the height a little bit, and do other amazing RMC stuff to the layout! No real guesses for me, I'm just anxious to see!
  21. It's legit... The awful name... The awful Full Throttle-esque themeing... The tent with the stupid TV....gahhh. I'm sorry, you guys, I wish this went to a smaller park like SFA or SFOG. SFGAdv deserves better for sure.. I wish I could tell you that the one at SFFT was fun, but I would be lying to myself. Happy end to the coaster drought! (At least the colors are interesting!)
  22. The best thing the park could do IMO is restore and then keep restoring. They did a great job restoring X to X2, and then Superman and Lex Luthor, and then with Colossus last year! If they restored Revolution with new OTSR-less trains and then took off some trims, I would be beyond excited! I also think Cyclone Bay is in need of an overhaul, but I'd honestly prefer something for Revolution right now.
  23. I didn't find AK or DHS to be full day parks, I recommend going to Fun Spot to ride White Lightning one of those nights, the coaster is great. I also recommend the Flex pass, it was super nice to get unlimited visits to universal, seaworld, and Busch!
