Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
chickenbowl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Drop towers and frisbee's (particularly the outward facing kind) are definitely some of the only rides outside of coasters I ever spend time riding! ... unless I'm at a Disney or Universal park with a decent dark ride. -
100% correct. He's got no problem making wild, unsubstantiated claims and will argue to death with actually credible people about how he's "right". He's got no problem posting leaked footage early on his crappy FB page for the sake of being first. He's the British tabloid of coaster news. Read what he says for entertainment purposes only. I can't think of a stronger case of overcompensation. In ACTUAL news, Flyin' Phil posted photos from his latest flight this weekend, including four of SFGAdv. They give a nice overhead view of the construction but unfortunately don't clear up this dumb Chiller station debate. Yeah I've been arguing with him over at GAH, poking holes in his arguments, but it's futile. He's created some SERIOUS inner-conflict for me...I want an RMC SO bad at GAdv, but it's to the point where I hope we don't get one just to shut him up and prove him wrong. And if we do get one it'll be bittersweet as he will never stop bragging about his prediction, probably all the way to inscribing "Railer-THE great TRex predictor" on his tombstone. It's a sad, sad world when one should be torn about wanting an RMC to come to his homepark If they get one, I have serious doubts that it'll be in 2017.

What parks have you visited?
chickenbowl replied to Nicolas -TRZ-'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, it's been just about 6 years since I updated this.... I've still only been to parks in North America, but I'll list some of the major ones Disney: Disneyland, DCA, Magic Kingdom, DAK, DHS, Epcot Universal: USH, IOA, USF SeaWorld/Busch: SWSD, SWO, SWSA, BGW, BGT Six Flags: SFMM, SFDK, SFGAm, SFGAdv, SFOG, SFOT, SFFT, SFNE Cedar Fair: KBF, CP, KI, KD, Carowinds, CGA Herschend: Dollywood, SDC Merlin: Legoland CA, Legoland FL PARC Management: Frontier City, Darien Lake, Wild Waves Other random parks: Hersheypark, Knoebel's, Silverwood, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Playland- Vancouver, Lake Compounce, Seabreeze, Funtown, Gilroy Gardens, Mundo Divertido- TJ, Castle Park, Oak's, Enchanted Forest, Fun Spot USA, Pacific Park I've also been to plenty of FECs, Casinos, Mountain Coasters and random places that have coasters, but those are my traditional parks! Basically, I'm missing only a few major parks in North America: Holiday World, Kentucky Kingdom, Canada's Wonderland, Six Flags Mexico, La Ronde, Lagoon, World's of Fun, Dorney Park... and a few others, but I'm pretty set outside of those! -
Oh no, of course they aren't. BGW would totally draft legitimate technical drawings up for a teaser campaign... My guess is that their completely legit, but they're for something like landscaping or sidewalk infrastructure. With all the teasing happening in less than one week so far, I bet were close to finding something out. I still doubt it'll be anything more than a family coaster like BGTs Mack Spinner. (But I'll cross my fingers for a woodie... RMC!!!)

Six Flags Mexico (SFM) Discussion Thread

Hey guys, I'm looking into visiting SFM near March 20th. Any locals have anything to warn me about? On their website, it looks like Boomerang is temporarily closed, but I don't see that for any other coasters, I would definitely avoid a visit to the park of Medusa wasn't running. Any info on crowds on a Sunday in March would be very welcome! Thanks so much! -

How can that even be a record? There's a ton of Eurofiggters, and I'm pretty sure the El Lovos are steeper too. Steepest cable lift? I don't get it -
Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
chickenbowl replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't been on this thread in a while. What are the current rumors or 2017 at Canada's Wonderland? -
I think the 17 in the video was referencing 2017, the year. I am thinking this will most likely be either a wood coaster (RMC, GCI, Intamin?) or a Mack Spinner, similar to Cobra's Curse. I'll tell you why. What doesn't BGW already have at this point? They have 7 steel coasters, so I think a woodie is possible. I'd really like it if they used terrain if it was. A woodie would also have to be quiet, which leads me to believe it would be of the modern variety (RMC, Intamin). But the park has a lot of intense thrilling coasters, so maybe a family friendly RMC? I think if we are seeing a steel coaster, it will be more geared towards families, like Cobra's Curse is. This park already has 3 huge B&M's, all of which are taller than 195', and they're all pretty intense. I don't think the park would add another huge B&M mega-looper to their already thrilling coaster line up. I also don't think we're seeing any type of launching coaster considering the past 2 coasters have launched.
-
Interesting. Well I'm curious to see how they extend the layout beyond the midways like the other coasters. Personally, if it's a B&M, I'm hoping for and Invert, Dive, or Hyper - not a Wing. It does seem like SDC and Dollywood have a tradition of taking the other park's new coaster and stepping it up a bit. Thunder Express(1989) -> Thunderation(1993), Tennessee Tornado(1999) -> Wildfire (2001), Powder Keg(2004) -> FireChaser Express(2014), Outlaw Run(2013) -> Lightning Rod(2016), Wild Eagle(2012) -> Unknown(2017). Hopefully this coaster is a better, more interesting version of Wild Eagle!
-
It looks like they're actually attempting a teaser campaign after the embarrassment of Tempesto. Good for them though, I'm already interested! I feel like they have met their quota of adult steel coasters. I'm going to cross my fingers for a custom wood RMC similar to Outlaw Run, Lightning Rod, or Wildfire!! I'm assuming it's a coaster based off one person saying "the drop will go over here" in the video.

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread

I thought everyone knew this. I do hope there's future plan for Europa to build a new Mega/Megalite Coaster similar to Storm at Etnaland or Flash at Lewa Adventure, but I suppose Silver Star / Blue Fire may already fill that void. In fact, I just hope there's a Mack Mega Coaster planned for North America at all. Manta is wonderful, but I want to try something bigger! (Without having to travel overseas) -

That really doesn't look good. I hope someday, PA can buy new redesigned trains for the coaster, cause I bet it would be really fun if it wasn't as rough as that looks! -

Wow, this is great news about Legend. I am visiting the park for the first time this year, and I'm not going to lie, I was a little worried that the woodies may have deteriorated a bit since their prime, and hearing that Legend is having major work done along with Voyage getting even more work done this offseason really excites me. I am confident that these coasters will ride just as well as they did in their heyday! -

Taron will have launches around 1.8g. Where did you read 1.8? That's insane for an LSM; TTD, Xcelerator, and Kingda Ka don't even break 1.7. But I suppose it's possible, Dodonpa is 2.7...
