  1. New picture on Instagram. This is definitely a slight change from the double down in the animation! It looks insane! I love it!
  2. I'm on team Dive Coaster! I would love a Mack launcher, but I really don't prefer spinning personally. If there was a non-spinning option, that could be neat. But for now, I'm definitely hoping for the worlds tallest Dive coaster!
  3. I completely agree. It's funny how before I rode it, I thought the turnarounds would be the weakest parts on the ride, but they were actually some of the best! I guess I'm just not a fan of the inversions on Goliath. I much prefer the inversions on Outlaw Run (although those inversions may also be my least favorite parts of OR too!). Goliath's dive loop and stall combo are just not very intense. I know that the track length is longer on Goliath than Outlaw Run, but it just doesn't feel like it does nearly as much for some reason.
  4. Definitely the beautiful Togo masterpiece that should've been Superman Krypton Coaster. You all know it would've been super smooth today!
  5. I thought the same thing when I first looked at it, then I realized they still have 2 more supports to install. The track will directly attach to the footers at that spot (like at the bottom of the drop)
  6. I'm very happy that I was wrong in my initial reaction after seeing the first testing video a few days ago. This coaster is now on my bucket list!!
  7. It made me immediately not want to read the article because it's focusing on the super nerds, not the ones who just want to have fun. I'm sure ACE would go bananas over this article, though. The three people they focus on I the article actually seem pretty normal compared to who you mention. But I do agree - That sentence really paints a negative picture. The rest of the article is pretty good I'd say! One of them called SFMM a roller coaster mecca, so they are definitely not normal...credit whores and fans of mediocre (Twisted Colossus notwithstanding) rides perhaps, but definitely not normal. Hahaha. I agree with you, but I do know that a lot of non-local people seem to glorify SFMM. It makes me so confused!

  9. That's really great to hear! I can't wait to see a POV eventually! Thanks for the info!
  10. Seeing as it has no launches, no elevation changes, and nobody's getting on mid-ride, it's physically impossible for it to gain momentum through the course. Physics, man. It can gain momentum by going down. Momentum is based on mass and speed. What it cannot do is gain energy (only transfer potential energy into kinetic or vice versa, or into heat/friction). Yep! Momentum = mass x velocity You're exactly right!
  11. Holy crap... I'm shocked they caught this on film. What a tragedy. Please China, put up some safety measures, this is horrendous.
  12. My next RMC was Goliath at Six Flags Great America. I visited the park for the first time on a weekend in October when I found $99 airfare out of LAX. I was on such a roll in 2015 already, I thought why not get another RMC? My thoughts on Goliath? Great! Really really fun - but definitely not my favorite of them, in fact I'd have to say it's my least favorite. That's a strange title to give to a coaster that's in my top 5 wood, but I suppose that says a lot about how consistently amazing RMCs are! Goliath has phenominal sections, but it also has sections I don't quite love. To me, it's more of a collection of 6 elements instead of a flowing organic layout like Outlaw Run. The drop is fantastic and I wouldn't change anything about it. The first turnaround is really interesting, I found great airtime in the front going up into it - Very unique! The airtime hill is quite amazing as well. I found the Dive Loop to just be ok, there was some good hangtime but nothing I really loved. The stall was pretty fun, it's longer than TC's, but it doesn't do a lot for me unfortunately. I really liked the final turnaround too, some good airtime in the front and back! Overall it is a super solid coaster, but it isn't quite insane like I found Outlaw Run to be. But not bad for being RMC's "worst" coaster I've ridden. Here's my RMC rankings at this point: 1. Outlaw Run 2. New Texas Giant 3. Iron Rattler 4. Twisted Colossus 5. Goliath My visit to the park overall was pretty pleasant. I had never been and I visited on a Saturday during Fright Fest so you know I had to splurge for the Flashpass! Goliath was averaging 2.5-3 hour long lines, I felt lucky to have ridden it twice - Very front and very back! Most coasters had insane waits and somehow I did not miss a credit! Go ahead and look at some of my pics! Here we are, Goliath [RMC #5] Amazing first drop - So steep and so long! The airtime in the back is terrific, and the view in the front is breathtaking The stall is fun, really floaty - Not exactly what I prefer on a wooden coaster though Raging Bull ended up being my 350th coaster! And it was pretty good! I loved the drop in the back row! Ahhh, the classic. A bit overhyped, but decently fun! Here's the first ever Batman which happened to be my 5th of this Trip Report! The coaster did everything that I always wished Goliath at SFMM would do. A great Hyper/Twister X-Flight was my second Wing Coaster, and I liked it a lot more than Wild Eagle Too bad about the locking restraints though - For some reason they really get my collar bones I thought this element was really cool. Why didn't Wild Eagle have cool unique Wing Coaster elements? We had a pretty vantage point from X-Flight's queue during sunset I thought this one turned out especially nice! Last ride of the night in the front, I'm very impressed! I cannot wait for more RMC woodies!! Up next: Medusa Steel Coaster (in about 3 weeks) It's a beautiful coaster that really has an Intimidating stature - Funny that the structure also reminds me of Intimidator 305 It doesn;t have anything else too crazy other than a couple of great airtime spots. But it's still not my least favorite B&M hyper. It felt unlike the rest!
  13. I don't know guys, I want to be optimistic too but when I watch this video, I see something completely different than that testing video. I do hope it speeds up though, cause I think that layout has potential to be of the best steel coasters on the planet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfaot90tb5s
  14. This. I know my hopes are high since I am expecting Skyrush 2.0 + inversions, but this did seem to be crawling. It honestly looks like Skyrush with a better and longer layout, and that excites me, but after this video, I'm a little worried a set my expectations too high.
  15. Does that look really slow to anybody else? Skyrush is way faster than that... I really hope it gets warmed up soon cause it's crawling over some of those airtime hills.
  16. That's exactly right. And it's bringing them my new business this year. If they only reopened the park with the same attractions it had as SFKK, I would never had visited, but in 2016, it is a MUST for me as an enthusiast! I hope this coasters brings them even more success!
  17. Now that I graduated from Cal Poly SLO (in December) with a BS in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Manufacturing, I am seeking employment in the amusement engineering industry. In fact, I just had an interview with WhiteWater West. Wish me luck, guys!
  18. To design rides/rollercoaster, you don't need to know math. You need imagination. It's the mathematical calculations and the engineer part that requires the math. To get hired anywhere as a designer, you definitely need a technical degree that requires math.
  19. By the end of this summer, I will add SFM, SFA, and LR. 1. SFGAdv 2. SFFT 3. SFGAm 4. SFMM 5. SFOG 6. SFNE 7. SFDK 8. SFOT
  20. Wow. That is an intense drive. I don't see how you did it! See, I've mentioned this before, and all hell broke loose, and people thought I was an idiot for saying that Outlaw Run was a bit rough in the wheel seats. I'm glad I have finally found someone who agrees!! Not saying it is a bad coaster, I'll gladly ride the coaster in a non-wheel seat all day long!! We left Dallas by 4am and made it to the park by 11:30 or 12pm. It was kinda brutal, but we were all so excited that we didn't mind! After the park closed at 10pm, we made the (quite long) drive to Oklahoma city and got there at 2am. It was one of the most exhausting days I've ever had, but I regret nothing now! It was funny, for our first ride we rode in the back car. And I happened to ride in the non-wheel seat - Me and Andrew loved it! Antonio and Gio rode in the very back row (wheel seat) - They came off disappointed that the ride was rough. We were actually arguing about the ride's smoothness for a while until we hypothesized that it was due to the specific row you sat. A few more rides cleared everything up and we all agreed on Outlaw Run's amazingness! I haven't had this problem on any other RMC, it's possible that it's due to OR having the prototype trains and prototype Topper Track.
  21. They're being designed in-house and having a 3rd party manufacture them. For a classic coaster such as Revolution, probably was their only option without employing too many safety features like what some manufacturers would of wanted to install. I wouldn't trust Six Flags engineering... My guess is they bought the same Gerstlauer trains made for SooperDooperLooper. Lareson is right unfortunately. I wish it was Gerst trains, but I think SF isn't in great terms after the NTG lawsuit.
  22. I disagree with your opinion here. We may have a lot of Eurofighters, but this looks like a cut above the rest. First off, it's Mack! Have you been on a larger Mack recently? Manta is amazingly smooth and I've heard amazing things about Blue Fire and Helix as well as Storm and Flah at Lewa World. I think seeing Macks take on this will be very exciting. Another difference between this and a typical gerst Eurofighter is the focus on airtime. This looks a lot more interesting than most Eurofighters to me. This coaster has super unique elements (the outward banked tophat thing? The super tight apex airtime hill?). I am way more excited about this than any gerst that isn't Karnan or possibly Junker. And those are Infinity coasters right? Macks future is super exciting to me, I can't wait to see what else they are doing! Have you been on a large scale Euro Fighter? And Flash is not even opened yet, how can you hear amazing things about it? Also, Gerstlauer has been doing off-axis transitions on Euro Fighters before RMC did NTaG and Mack basically just modified one of RMC's element. Yes this is a very interesting layout, but I don't think it's any better than the newer Gerstlauer coasters. I have, I find them sorta rough (Mystery Mine) or very boring (Dare Devil Dive). I haven't heard any good news on them getting any smoother (I read Karnan was rough on opening day). Flash opened in January actually, and the POV looks better than any Gerstlauer I've ever seen. Most Eurofighters seem pretty standard to me at this point. Takabisha has some interesting elements, but I'd be worried about roughness on that one. I feel like Gerstlauer has great ideas and great elements but poor execution. I see a lot more potential from Mack in the future. *I also read Helix had some shuffling problems on their trains opening season but got fixed before 2015.

  24. YES!! So much better than spinning, this solidifies my excitement for this coaster!
  25. I'll update this later this year once I've visited MIA and CW. 1. Cedar Point 2. Knott's Berry Farm 3. King's Island 4. King's Dominion 5. Carowinds 6. California's Great America
