Do most coasters turn to the right?
chickenbowl replied to ComeRideWithMe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Twisted Timbers literally only makes right turns. So you can assume all other coasters must too -
Pick one. A bit disingenuous to leave out the part about the second quote being a prediction. How so? Making a prediction is very much a judgement, no? It's at least the same type of judgement that he was just criticizing x2coasterfreak for. Luckily my better half doesn't subscribe to the idea that bigger is better. TMI

Pick one. You've ridden a bunch of B&Ms and most of the RMC's, right? What do you think? Do you think its easy to assume this won't be as forceful as your average modern B&M? I suppose that depends on what the consensus is on the definition of forceful/forceless/whatever catch-all terms enthusiasts use. And what forces certain enthusiasts value. Are we talking about positive Gs? There's a few RMCs with strong positives, but I'd say B&Ms are typically stronger on average. I think B&M has consistently kept this heavy positives on old and new. Even Silver Bullet has a gray-out-inducing helix. Are we talking about airtime? No one will ever argue that RMC doesn't have much stronger airtime than B&M nearly all the time. Are we talking about intensity in pacing? When people say "modern B&Ms are forceless" I think they're mistaking strong forces for intensity in design. Simply put, B&M don't transition from element to element quickly enough. They hit the same heavy G Force values they used to, but they reach them more gradually, and that makes it less intense. The pacing becomes static. But in turn, more people in general can enjoy this coaster. The reason Kumba is loved more among enthusiasts than a more recent floorless of similar size/layout like Bizarro isn't how high or how long the positive forces are, it's the transitions in and out of the positive-heavy elements and how quickly it maneuvers everywhere else. B&M have lost their "whip." Sorry for the long-winded explanation on that. But as far as my expectations for Twisted Cyclone go I would say that many other B&Ms will have stronger positives, but TC will probably have better pacing, intensity and airtime.

I really hope they have all the weird naked dancing girls from the 70's movie incorporated in the ride -

I was thinking about this - There will surely be some different types of trends for in-line seating. Will people favor riding by themselves in the front of different trains? Or riding with their groups throughout a single train? Will there even be rows to wait for? Or will the operators just fill in seats from the general queue?

It is an odd stat to throw out, but makes me think the coaster will be less than 3,000 feet. Mindbender is the longest, and the new Gerstlauer at American Dream's new Nick park will be over 3,200ft by the time this is built. All the Space Mountains are longer than 3,000 feet, but none are listed as indoors on rcdb.com. If the coaster is going to be longer than Space Mountain I think I would have been stated. Edmonton's Mindbender is 4198ft long.

Data taken from my new coasterpoll.com combined ranking. It made this easier to make. I'm surprised to see some parks left the top 15 here. It seems having a handful of great coasters still won't add up. BGW, BGT, KBF, SDC, and Knoebel's were all left out despite having a really solid line up. Cedar Point: Maverick(3) + Millennium Force(27) = 30 SFGAdv: El Toro(6) + Nitro(29) = 35 Dollywood: Lightning Rod(1) +Thunderhead(37) = 38 Hersheypark: Skyrush(5) + Storm Runner(34) = 39 Happy Valley: Mega-Lite(9) + Diving Coaster(32) = 41 Six Flags New England: Superman the Ride(14) + Wicked Cyclone(31) = 45 Canada's Wonderland: Behemoth(17) + Leviathan(30) = 47 Six Flags Mexico: Medusa Steel Coaster(7) + Superman el Ultimo Escape(40) = 47 Kentucky Kingdom: Storm Chaser(23) + Lightning Run(28) = 51 Carowinds: Fury 325(11) + Intimidator(43) = 54 Holiday World: Voyage(22) + Legend(48) = 70 King's Island: Beast(51) + Diamondback(21) = 72 SFGAm: Goliath(25) + Raging Bull(47) = 72 SFFT: Iron Rattler(12) + Superman Krypton Coaster(53) = 75 Universal Japan: Flying Dino(35) + Hollywood Dream(45) = 80 I'm sure these un-ridden combos would surely crack this list: I305/Twisted Timbers, Helix/Balder, iSpeed/Katun, Flying Aces/Formula Rossa, Goliath/RMC Robin Hood. But I doubt any will ever beat Steel Vengeance/Maverick. -

They sure are spending a lot of money, time, and energy keeping this standard Vekoma looper running. Why not simply invest in a better looping coaster? They could still call it Python, -

This is great to hear! This park could have one of the most elite Top-3 coaster combos after this! Goliath, Lost Gravity and RMC IBox?! -
Is that why Dodonpa's launch is so mild? Or how Kawasemi has mild airtime? Or Flying Dinosaur has a mildly forceful layout? Oh wait... Yeah, because three hand selected more extreme coasters are 100% representative of national trends /s. The entire country of Japan has 91 inversions. You can find 89 inversions in three parks in America. Tastes fluctuate between nations, and in Japan tastes are in general more mild than those of Americans. No, your massive generalizations are ridiculous and stupid. You're generalizing hundreds of millions of people because Japanese coaster companies installed a lot of Jet Coasters 20-30 years ago? Have you even been to Japan? With your logic I can say that the people of Utah tend to love polygamy due to there being 30000 polygamists living in the state. Being a reasonable person and having some basic insight on a culture, I can see that gross generalizations are wrong. Thanks for a little insight and nuance into the history of the Japanese theme park market. Also wanted to point out that Togo wasn't only making forceless crap either - Ultra Twisters have some crazy forces/elements, and they made some enormous coasters too (Bandit, Fujiyama, etc)
