Sea World Abu Dhabi back on the docket for 2022
Hobbesx2 replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
NOooooooooooooooooooooo! I hate parks in Dubai, especially big name ones with lots of rollercoasters... I can't go to Dubai. My last name's Cohen and I'm Jewish so I would probably be thrown out. Or worse. -

Actually, they just decided do it anyway and see what happens. Who cares about all that "engineering" and "safety" crap anyway. Anways, sounds awesome. -

Everyone always says the castle is really small, but now I get what they are saying. That thing is like 20 or 30 feet high. That picture put it into perspective. -

New Vekoma Flyer in China 2008
Hobbesx2 replied to speedracer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is a retarded design. Way too short, too compact, and some places will have not enough speed but others will have too much. Say right before the station it will be going uncomfortably fast into the brakes, but the spot after the batwing where it goes back up will be way to slow. 2 out of 10 for this design, but we'll wait and see. -

How would the crowds be around Dec. 31 or Jan 1? Basically a little after Christmas? I'm thinking of going. -

I can't remember my 50th. Probably one at SFMM or EG or something. My 75th was Wildfire at SDC. -

No, I meant the endless drop. I didn't know it had been mentioned here before. Norwegian loops are pretty cool, though. It looks like they took a pretzel loop and sit- downafied it. -
no way it can't be mambas helix. you have to be on it to understand, even me, someone who is completely sure you're not going to have your hands smacked off, puts my hands down.

Silver Dollar City non photo TR
Hobbesx2 replied to Hobbesx2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It is a big circle, and I figured my way around pretty quickly, but there's a sharp left turn before the kids riverfront that we missed because a building was blocking the path and we didn't see it. Thanks for that history, I'm surprised they haven't put it back in yet. -
I can't believe I'm actually going to right about this, I figured I wouldn't but I'm going to because it is such an awesome park. Day 1. We arrived in the park at precisely 3:01 on Thursday the 4, because of the awesome rule where if you come after 3:00 one day, you get the next free. We had absolutely no idea where anything was, as it's a slightly confusing park with so many shops and godly what- not. We turned to the right, hoping to go counter- clockwise. Our first ride of the day was Thunderation, and I rode it backwards and then in the very back. Best mine train ever, beating Adventure Express at Kings Island. It was walk on, and that was to be the theme for this day and most of the next. This was because of school and all the old people that roam the park but never go on any rides. Now with a map, we head over to the Grand Exposition and ride the best swinger and disco every. The swinger went really high off the ground and the disco was awesome, especially the ride op who was old just like every other one. We leave, not riding the kiddy coaster because I didn't want to ride that for my 75th credit. Milling around the park trying to find Powder Keg, we took a wrong turn and ended up in the Riverfront part of the park and hit another dead end, which meant more walking, meanwhile dodging the shooting water from the kid's section. Eventually, we found our way and hopped on the river raft. It was amazing, and the most wet one I've ever been on because they would put two rapid/mini drop thins in a row, causing the train to smash into the rapids and water would come gushing into the train. It was really cool, especially since my parents took most of the water for once. Milling around some more, we found Wildfire and it's rerouted line. We get on to an amazing B&M in the very front. It has a spectacular drop down the side of the mountain, a giant dive loop and some more B&M goodness. It's only problem was that it's a little short, so we rerode in the very back because every ride op would just let you reride, unlike Cedar Fair and Six Flags and pretty much every other park I've ever been to. There was some great airtime in the back, but the front was still the best seat. The guy sitting next to us regrettably informed us that Powder Keg was closed for the day. On the way out we passed the double queue thing between Wildfire and American Plunge, a wet log flume. Wanting to ride (I didn't care about wetness any more and still had time to waste), we hopped on. It was not amazing, especially the long black tunnel which did absolutely nothing. They should do some dark ride theming there or something. Exiting near Fire in the Hole, we decided to hop on and got on an interesting, fun experience that really made no sense but was still awesome. We rode that twice. By now we were pretty tired and it was about 5:45 and the park was about to close (It closes at 6 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays) and a nice shop gave us some free french fries because they were just about to close and were going to throw them out anyway. We went back to our hotel and did some stuff which I will not go into details about. Day 2. We arrived there and semi- rushed to Powder Keg to find empty lines. We rode 4 different sections of the train (front, back, forward middle, and back middle- front and back were tied for the best). It was the best ride in the park with great theming and layout and despite it's pretty small size, had an amazing launch and airtime. Exiting near Fire in the Hole again, we rode it one more time after buying some alligator, ostrich and kangaroo jerky. It was actually wet this time for some reason (there's a little splash thing at the end). Getting off, we went to Tom and Huck's play area and went over to the Grand Exposition and got a rough and annoying kiddie coaster credit. By now I had gone on every rollercoaster and my credit count was at 78, and it still is now. We left and went to the Riverfront kiddie place for my brother and sister which was really well done and went on Wildfire again, but by now there were slightly longer lines because it was a Friday after school was out, so no more rerides. Then we went to Marvel Cave, and amazing gigantic series of caverns. Then we took the incline train out of the cave after an hour long tour with amazing scenery. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Silver Dollar City. We went on Powder Keg again which had a ten minute wait which was the longest of the entire trip. Now we went to the Flooded mine and rode that twice, the first actually shooting and the second relaxing and watching the scenery. After we headed over to Grandfather's Mansion and an awesome curvy room that sends everything out of whack really badly and I couldn't seem to adjust to. Then we left the park for the last time. Oh, and did I mention the amazing food?? Thanks for reading if you could be bothered, it was an amazing trip.

probably either Magnum or Thunderation. Thunderation was awesome, especially going backwards. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Hobbesx2 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Once I spent an entire day convincing a kid in the class below me that there's no such thing as an inversion that starts high and keeps turning down until you're upside down and then keeps going up until you're right side up again. It's sort of hard to explain, but you go around the outside of an upside down loop. -

I was waiting in line for the Mamba once, and I was going to be next on the ride. Person behind me (PBM): So what happened if the brakes didn't work? Ride op: It wouldn't, if the ride broke the computer would shut it all off, and the brakes would just stop you. PBM: But what if the computer broke first: Ride op: That wouldn't happen. PBM: But what if it did? Ride op: Well, on that last curve, you're coming in at about 75 mph so I guess you would probably die. (The last curve is about 15 mph.) PBM: Well, I'm leaving. And he left. I got on the ride laughing. -

lets see, Intoxicator, El Tiempe (the weather- you could have dueling lightning and thunder or something), TwiceSpike for an Intamin II coaster or half pipe, Times2 Corkscrew for an Arrow Corkscrew, Crusader, Rifle, etc... -
Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread
Hobbesx2 replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looks like another trip to SFStL will be in order with two new credits. I think six flags is really up to something. Two new rollercoasters in a row at what, the smallest park in the chain now that SFEG is gone?? Anyway, this is awesome. KC is only about 4 or less hours away. -
Pluto chases kid around at DLR

I don't care if that kid punched him in the balls, that guy went crazy. That kid will have mental problems for a long time. I would have told him to stop and found some other kid to take photos with or whatever they do. If he bothered me again I would have got his parent or got another staff member to help. That kid was running pretty fast for his age, though. He must have been scared shitless. -
OK, I was just at WOF and I talked to a park employee. They're selling Nickelodeon shirts saying Bikini Bottom and WOF, so we asked him what it was all about so he said that Camp Snoopy would turn into Bikini Bottom and remember that cleared area by the Mamba I was talking about? It's right next to camp snoopy and I expect will be an expansion. Phew good to get that out of my system. This is more than a rumor so it doesn't go in the rumor thread, but I can't find anything online. The Patriot wasn't online for a while, though, so who knows.

Winter break Florida trip
Hobbesx2 replied to Hobbesx2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Damn going back to school. How about probably a weekend around the time of Spring break but not during it? I get a passover break instead of a spring break (same thing) but they have different times. So I could go then instead. If I did that I could probably also go to Valleyfair! around early October. -
