  1. Holy crap, I had no idea it had an inversion! Wow! This ride looks stunning. It just keeps going and going and going. Jealous of Dave over there riding right now!
  2. ^What those two said. I actually didn't know this fact: At Kings Island, SlingShot is located in the Oktoberfest area and the capsule is launched 275 feet (84 m) into the air going up to 100 miles per hour (160 km/h). I never paid for it, but when I worked in games I got to ride it a couple times. It's pretty damn scary! But Skyfliers are better IMO; there's really nothing like it. It's pure freefall. It is terrifying, too haha. At Kings Island, the Skyflier is 150ft tall. I'd pay up to 20 bucks to ride, honestly.
  3. That's brilliant. Thanks for making that gif!
  4. Always love your well written reviews and stories, Andy - combine them with your photos and that's an A+ trip report! The 2014 visit was unfortunately a foreshadow to every visit I had to SFGAm in 2015. It's now my home park and a struggle to have a decent trip without a Q-Bot. Hope to see you soon and read more of your reports in the mean time! -Zach
  5. When Holiday World re-opens this year, you can ride Wildebeest which is pretty much the same thing as riding a roller coaster (with great airtime) with nothing but handles to grab onto.
  6. I really had to go back a few times to make sure I wasn't reading the same page over and over and over and over again. And here you predict your reaction in person: or maybe
  7. The Beast. There's no airtime and the rest of the ride is pure laterals. No way you could ever be bounced out.
  8. Agreed. I thought the ride was pathetic. Disaster Transport was pretty lame, too. Every other Intamin ride I've been on is pretty darn good.
  9. There are plenty on RMC coasters. Both Goliath and Outlaw Run have straight airtime hills. Just go back and watch some beautiful TPR videos One holy hell airtime hill A strong pop before the double barrel roll
  10. Whatever they're doing, I love it! Hopefully I can return soon. The coasters + slides make HW one of the best theme parks in the US.
  11. Wow. The Carnival ships spewing out all that black smoke is absolutely disgusting. I don't think I've ever seen a cruise ship putting out smoke like that. I would never sign up for a Carnival cruise! Blegh. Thanks for the photos, John! Looks like a great time. -Zach
  12. Are the seats on the Intamin coaster the same as Bizarro/SROS at SFNE? Is this the first time we've seen Intamin put in those type of seats on a new coaster?
  13. Backwards Batman is the only coaster that's almost gotten me sick. Those two corkscrews and final turns were really intense and completely disorienting. Hot, humid day + Batman can make anyone weak.
  14. With the work B&M is doing and how the recent Flyers have turned out - I'd like to see the flying coaster built. You know it'll have a great theme involved, too.
  15. It's painfully obvious that you're trying to just get attention with all the threads you're bumping and creating. Well done.
  16. We get it, you hate lines and only buy VIP tickets at parks. Save us time reading your posts and just put it in your signature ;]. If you're posting on this forum (and love Firehawk), then you should know that Vekoma flying coasters pretty much have the capacity of a shuttle coaster and break down often. It's certainly a must ride for those who haven't been on it before, but if you enjoy the ride it's unfortunately a tough ride to get on consistently and rack up rides.
  17. The initial flip-over is a freaky, unique experience but I do not enjoy the restraints, laying on my back facing the sun, or any other part of the ride. I think the barrel rolls are a big downgrade from the corkscrews on Carowinds' Nighthawk/BORG/Stealth. I thoughts the corkscrews were really fun. I'd like to confess that this is the first season that I did not visit Kings Island since I moved away. I'm excited to visit next year!
  18. I haven't heard of such a strong preference for sitting in the front seat 99% of coasters before. Interesting to hear your take! Sounds like an impressive case of bad luck with sitting behind long hair or ill-mannered kids. I typically always go for the back or closest to it. It took me a couple visits to CP before I finally waited for the front row on TTD, Millennium, and Maverick. And I think they're all front-seat rides. On inverted coasters I prefer the front seat - but Banshee's first drop in the back seat has some funky airtime! Diamondback in row 2 is my favorite row, and Raging Bull's backseat rips you out after the pre drop. RMC - I'd say Outlaw Run was great everywhere. I really didn't have a preference on where to sit. The whole ride is crazy. On Goliath, though, I enjoy the back seat simply for the first drop.
  19. Thanks for the responses! Great updates so far. I saw the LA Times featured a lot of TPR tweets/photos/videos in their new for amusement world 2015 article. Can't wait to see more!
  20. Was the VR coaster experience at Fun Spot in connection with the Google Cardboard technology?
  21. I don't understand the point of the pool at the bottom of the first drop. It didn't even make a splash. I had the opportunity to ride Pilgrim's Plunge a couple times and never enjoyed a ride. I don't think they could get the water level right, though. It was like a giant drop into knee-smashing brakes. I'd give them a try again if I had the chance, but I don't see the appeal. Go for a badass log flume instead.
  22. Wow. Stunning videos and some really unique kick ass layouts. Good to see they're having success in China!
  23. Agreed 100%!!! I feel like 98% of people who complain about Gatekeeper are either: 1.) Complaining because they have heard others complain, and even though they have never even been on the coaster they feel like it is a bad coaster because others have said it is. -or- 2.) They don't know how to recognize a good coaster when they ride one. Gatekeeper is by no means a great amazing coaster. But it is still a decent coaster, and get's way more hate than it should. Every ride I had on it in 2013 was not fun. The combo of the rattling/bouncing and the vests tightening made it awful. I liked the slow roll on the way back to the station though. Since I was with a group, I rode it 4 times over 2 days in different rows and the rides in the back were not the best. I keep seeing love or hate for this ride so I'm really interested in riding it again. Exterminator at Kennywood is my top under-rated coaster. Runner up would be Cornball. Buzzbars + twisted CCI layout = standing up the whole ride.
  24. Any day where you read a PhotoTR by Chuck is a good day. I haven't spend more than 4 hours at WDW since 2002. Damn I need to visit. Thanks for posting! Love the commentary and pictures. -Zach
