TPR's 2011 Trips Questionnaire!
PKI Jizzman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The North East trip is back again, great to see! Spain would be my second choice, I'd love to go there...not 100% yet, but I would be for the NE trip. TPR members will have a GREAT time in Australia, the parks, the Zoo, the atmosphere....all just a wonderful place to be. Thanks for putting this up early, Robb! Now I can start saving and planning for 2011. See you guys this year at HW and IB...then on the way to Cedar Point! -

Grona Land looks like one of the best parks out there (and is supported by TPR Scandi Trip members!) and looks like it will keep on growing. I would LOVE to visit this place, having Indiana Beach one of my favorite parks. GL just looks like a souped up IB! -
The iPad - Apple's Take On The Tablet Computer
PKI Jizzman replied to Wes's topic in Random, Random, Random
I heard that March they're switching to Verizon? If not June? Just what I've been hearing around campus. I'm not that interested in Apple computers..I've just not sat down and looked at one enough to understand it, coming from a PC. I've had this IBM Thinkpad for 5 years now and it still runs great! I guess I just don't trust anything else! -
See sometimes I'll play a trick on the guest. If they ask "Can I sit in the front seat?" I'll reply, "If you can tell me what my name is." Ofcourse I wouldn't know the other person, but I have a NAMETAG on with my name! Some people would look at me funny and be like, I don't know you! And some laugh and see my name tag and answer correctly. I bet this parent would have not passed

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
PKI Jizzman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. While all of your points are valid and I personally agree with, it's not in Cedar Fair's immediate business model to play deep into things like general rehab (Yes, rides get their TLC every off season, but nothing else does) so general upkeep isn't what CF thinks is going to get an increase in turnstile spins. What has me hinting at an invert is simply this: 1. King's Island doesn't have one. 2. The latter half of the previous decade saw many coaster additions to Cedar Fair. A GCI here, a Mack there, a Zamerla this way and a Vekoma that, but the last 10 years of all CF installations ave been dominated by B&M or Intamin. This is a trend I look to continue and for a park the scale of Kings Island I look for them to add an invert has CF has shown throguh previous purchasing that they are more prom to the B&M model than an SLC. (They haven't "bought" any that I'm aware of) So I'm not saying that it'll happen soon. I'm not saying it's going to be the parks next addition. But it will happen. Sorry Steve, I didn't mention Skyflier. Eh, I wouldn't know how good it is...I don't really know the crew, and I haven't had a bad experience so that's all I got. I wouldn't know the difference when it comes to how high you're up....it's a fun ride though! I'd love to see a B&M Invert put in, and yeah it would be a great addition because KI needs to continue with adding newer-age things. Most of what Kings Island has are rides that are PAST tallest/fastest/best coasters. Now there's not much left to offer when it comes to quality. The only quality rides I think KI has would be Diamondback, Drop Tower, Flight of Fear, and Beast. I'm really back and forth on Beast, but it's fun at night time. Even though people have been complaining about B&M's recent invert's lack of forces, I've seen some pretty cool stuff. Remember that Phaethon coaster over in Korea or something? That ride looked pretty damn good! As much as I'd like to see KI put in a new coaster soon, there's a few other things that need adressing first. I see a serious lack of good rides in the waterpark. I go maybe once a year on a dead day to hit up the Proslide Tornado, Mat Racers, and the Florider. Everything else (I'm pretty sure) is from the 80's. The body slides are the WORST slides I've ever been on...filled with fiberglass! I've been dying to see something new come to Boomerang Bay. The latest addition was in 2004. The waterpark is usually packed on a summer day, families take advantage of "Two parks for the price of one." I love waterslides almost as much as coasters, and this is something that KI just needs to do. Other issues would be SOB, ride paint, and all around atmosphere needs to be brightened up. Which was improved last year: adding nicer fences, bushes, flowers, etc. -

I personally don't see a B&M invert coming. I'm sure it's plausible, and there are many different terrains to work with. The only rumor that's still going around is a big Action Zone revamp. Nearly everything there is old and busted. -Invertigo has many seats that need repair (which I assume will be fixed in the off season) -SoB -Flight Deck looks like crap. -Go karts are dull. -A few concerts are held each year at the Timberwolf, but people keep talking about it being removed. Hopefully a revamp is planning because that's the part of the park I visit the least. I only go for Drop Tower! -
An expensive Mack log flume? That should be awesome! I can't wait to see how well themed this will be. I wouldn't expect anything less than the other rides. If it has that much effort put into it with a decent layout....this could be competing with the best of the best! Looking forward to the opening..

Jizzman Tours the Gravity Group! IN DEPTH!
PKI Jizzman replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
About the restraint, they said something about it more covering the thighs, not really the midsection, if I can remember correctly. If you look at B&M's clamshell, it really mainly covers the thighs, then a bit of the hips. I think this bar will rest a bit lower, and it will have a handle to hold onto. Most of us had the lap bars down like they would normally be, but the finished product will be different, so you will all just have to wait and see at Holiday World! -

You're right! They were little medal shaped patches for a bunch of their CCI and GG works. I think they were kind of grouped in areas where they were built around the world/US. Hats were hanging above them. I don't think I mentioned it before, but the new trains highlight three things: -Increased Capacity -Increased Comfort (They were comfy!) -Decrease maintenance (50% less vertical track wear, 66% less horizontal track wear) Um, those qualities are amazing! One thing I'd like to note is how sitting in the front seat, the view it will give.. You could lean over and EASILY be able to see the track, it's a very open feeling. I can't wait to ride the front seat of Voyage...WOW! -Zach -

Just remember, this car is a PROTOTYPE...I won't say what we talked about there because I'm not sure how sensative is, but it's a prototype, and the Voyage trains aren't going to be exactly the same. -
Hey TPR! So, Gravity Group is based about 20 minutes north of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm apart of a Kings Island fansite, and someone had a connection to GG and got us a tour. They welcomed us in, let us test ride the prototype, and gave us a folder-o-crap! Sorry if this isn't a big report, as you'd assume, there are many things I can't talk about. Thanks very much to everyone at Gravity Group for talking, being very friendly, and letting us take some photos! Comments and questions are welcome! -Zach Awesome, I have physical proof of quality. Some more postcard things...they're neat! Timberjiner no longer! Coooooool, free stuff OMG Apollo is right across the street! Fantastic work guys, I can't wait to see what's going to come out next! See you in the same spot during the summer, TPR! I *LOVE* Voyage! And Boardwalk Bullet wasn't that bad! It would be awesome with these trains on it. It's like someone just dropped a front car off in an office space! The future of wooden coaster trains! The guys behind the best wooden coasters in the world are in Ohio?! My coaster senses are tingling...

Carowinds Discussion Thread

I worked on Diamondback last season, and don't you worry one bit Nervous Nancy, people like it just fine. People who want to sit together can in the seats that are (in Diamondback's case, the odd numbered rows) right next to each other. Everyone can easily turn around/lean forward to talk if you want to. Everyone gets a little scared, but we still kranked through 1,000-1,300 people an hour pretty much all day long. Don't worry about the GP. -

Seconded for TPR + Schwartzy goodness. Except at SFOT on Shock Wave! About 45 minutes or so allowed everyone to get tons of rides...fireworks going off, WOW. Same with Titan and Mr. Freeze ...that was so much fun! -

Yeah, I've talked to some of the ops and they say the ride cycle time goes from like, 3 minutes in the morning to 2 minutes 50 seconds at the end of the day. I can never say I've had a "nuts" ride on MF, maybe my first ride when I was 12 because I didn't know any better. It's just an all around fun ride for me, and seems like everyone else agrees. All the pictures I take of the ride, everyone's smiling and putting their hands in the air. Seems like the only negative reviews it gets are from the airtime lovers; because MF doesn't offer much. I'm a fan of floater air, and that 3rd hill is absolute bliss to me. It never seems to dissapoint! I always used to ride in the back, but I've seen that it gets better toward the front. -

Make your own Dole Whip at home

I feel the same way about Auntie Anne's pretzels. There's no way you can get a great taste out of making it at home. I got the AA pretzel kit...they were okay, but nothing like the real deal. Dole Whip rocks though! -
Mitch Hawker's Coaster Poll 2009!
PKI Jizzman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I thought that was weird too....I know PKIjizzman missed Superman on his visit but got everything else in, but what other enthusiast out there would ride everything on the Gold Coast except for Superman Escape. Still, not as bad as Jet Rescue, it only had 2 riders, and that's not even enough to calcuate the win percentage. Hopefully a TPR trip will shed some light on AU's coasters. There's a few unique coasters and some that are pretty good! -
Mitch Hawker's Coaster Poll 2009!
PKI Jizzman replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, there's no way it will stay in the top 10 next year...unless the MCBR is toned down and it breaks in AMAZINGLY well. Unless those two happen, Goliath will be ontop still. Where did LaRonde's Goliath come from?! I don't remember seeing that in the top 20 before! It must be running very well...just airtime, airtime, airtime. With Diamondback, Goliath, Behemoth, Goliath, Apollo, and Nitro in the top 20, very well done B&M. Are the only others missing Silver Star, Hollywood Dream, and Ragin Bull? Wow, that's when you know you have a good product out. I've more people complaining about Maverick's roughness than I usually do..I assume that's why it dropped. I had my best ride on it this season to put it up at my #2 steel. Underrated coasters: -Shockwave at SFOT...most underrated at #102 -Mr. Freeze at SFOT -Steel Hawg at Indiana Beach Winning percentages of those coasters on fewer than 10 ballots: Scooby-Doo Spooky Coa Warner Bros.
