^Thanks for the great photos Hanno! I for one really appreciate your updates. They give a great idea of what a park has to offer and your photography is amazing!!! -
Yeah from what I gathered by talking to people when I was there, Shenzhen is a place where a lot of people go because of it's economy. Since it is a SAR and located right next to Hong Kong, not everyone is allowed to live there and as someone explained to me, this has caused an underclass of "undocumented workers" to emerge within the city. I agree with you guys in that it was probably my least favorite city in China. With that said, OCT East looks amazing!

Big Mike and I went to the park's management last year trying to get the Miner Mike credit with no luck. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=747014#747014 -
This is interesting. OCT owns the Happy Valley and Window of the World parks in Shenzhen, but this looks to be a resort of sorts in a different area. Here is a link with some photos and information. http://www.startinchina.com/shenzhen/tourism/oct_east.html This seems to be the resort's official English website: http://en.octeast.com/holidayPlan/aboutus.shtml Ok and after a little searching I think I found the park's location. Here is a link to Google Maps: Google Maps OCT East Location

New Theme Park Review Videos!
packfanlv replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great video! I have only been on a Tagada once in my life at Siam Park City in Bangkok and it was a blast. We were on the ride with a bunch of Thai schoolgirls (Think 16 or 17 years old) who were wearing their uniforms (which have short skirts) and constantly trying to keep the ride from forcing them to reveal too much! -
The area for the log flume is huge. They had just torn down the old log flume where the person was killed when we were there. As for the "water park", it isn't much more than a couple of slides and pools. They have a lazy river, wave pool, a racing slide and an old slide complex with two of the four slides closed off. The park has a huge amount of room on that side to build whatever they want. I think they can definitely make it a full size water park and continue to grow for some time. As for right now though, Dream World is a much more complete amusement park so they need to continue to add to the rides side as well. The only other slides are these incredibly fast and scary racing slides. I have never been so out of control on a slide in my life! With so much room they can add quite a bit here. The old almost collapsing slide tower where two of the slides were closed and looked to have holes in them. The water park's wave pool. This was the area that held the old log flume and I assuming where the new one will go.

Boomerang in Tashkent?
packfanlv replied to mattec's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You've got to love the skyride! Seriously though, parks like this fascinate me. I visited so many small parks on my travels and each one is unique and fascinating in it's own way! Thanks for bringing attention to this park. -

I'm glad you finally got to ride it. I pretty much agree with what you said, the ride is fun but for how big it is, there are quite a few missed opportunities. I loved the TOGO death machine and Looping star. Thanks for sharing! -
If you could tear down one coaster
packfanlv replied to coasterfreaksrttd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
come on now, that's not funny. Really... I'm serious ^Perhaps we could spare these coasters the ignomy of complete destruction, tear them down but relocate them to Australia - we have no wood coasters or B & M. Revolution isn't too bad, the OTSR's are the killer. Zamperla Volares should be melted down and never seen again, these things even look like a torture device - I'd expect to see one in one of those SAW movies. I couldn't have said it better myself! With that said, my vote has to be Stampida, because it has two equally painful tracks and forcing myself to ride the second side was perhaps one of the hardest coaster related things I have ever done. My back is still giving me spasms from it! (But I would do it again!) -

packfanlv replied to mattnz's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Thanks for the TR. Rainbow's End is a fantastic little park. It doesn't look like much, but the log flume, mine train coaster and drop tower are all GREAT rides and when we visited a couple of years ago the park was a lot of fun. (And we got the kiddie credit since our son was with us!) -
Disneyland Paris in the snow Photo TR
packfanlv replied to neovortex2k's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Thanks for the amazing photos. Disneyland Paris is so beautiful and the snow just makes it even better. I agree with Hector that visiting Paris in the winter is definitely on my list of things to do. (At least I got the visiting Paris in summer thing checked off this year!) Thanks again! -
Big Mike. I have a banner in my profile and I you definitely are on my Christmas card list!!! Edit: I just checked and this is also my most active thread. Score! Edit 2: I know how the Big guy likes to eat so I just sent him a BK $1 Holiday Gift card!!!! (With a real card to follow!) https://secure2.bk.com/en/us/campaigns/bk-dollar-holidays.html
