  1. How about most loops record? Have you experienced rides like Colossus or 10 Inversion Coaster? They are just intense for the sake of being intense. (And not fun or reridable) The last thing SFMM needs is more inversions. According to RCDB SFMM has a total of 35 inversions on its rides. The next closest is SFGAdv with 20. That is a big difference! They need rides that are fun and rerideable.
  2. I don't know if the Alveys applied, but my wife and I decided to apply. I am filling out the incredibly long application right now.
  3. I say Lena. It sounds like you are sad to see her go. I'm glad you are having fun Big Mike! Thanks for keeping up with the photos.
  4. Since Silver Star is gone then my number is 8/10. If you count all 12 then it is 9/12 for me.
  5. Congrats Big Mike!!! Here's hoping that 1000 will come before you travel to Japan and fall in love with Misaki or her best friend Yuki and lose all interest in roller coasters. It will happen. It looks like you are having a great time! I am sooooooo jealous, but feel a little more comforted since I just booked tickets to visit Spain and France at the end of August. Not quite TPR style, but it'll have to do until next year!
  6. But it is not Disneyland and I don't expect a Disney experience from Magic Mountain. I think the theming is fun and the story is fun as long as it isn't taken too serious. Considering their best themed ride going in was Batman, this was a great accomplishment. In the end, the experience is more enjoyable for me with the theming then it would be if there was just a coaster there. Sure the ride is great, but the whole package is even better. Why would they want to be Disney when it sits an hour down the freeway? Shawn "Someone who appreciates both Disneyland and Magic Mountain for what they are" Coomer
  7. ^I disagree. I was actually surprised at how well done the theming was. IMO this is far above and beyond anything Six Flags has done in recent memory. The theming was not a mistake. This is a moderate attraction for families with older children and it delivers the experience intended. Who cares if the story is cheesy. Most themed rides have cheesy stories.
  8. Oh I didn't know that. I was there at the beginning of 2008. I guess it was covered after that. Thanks! (Now that I look at the picture closely I recognize the big screen at the end of the street.) Did they cover it to stop the rain or block out the brutal summer sun?
  9. Movie World in Australia isn't covered. The Shrek gives it away. It has to be Universal Studios Japan.
  10. I have been on 7/10. It should be 9, but we decided not to go to Fuji Q at the last minute because we were tired and didn't feel like dealing with the park. Oh well!
  11. Tivoli Gardens looks so beautiful. Thanks for sharing Big Mike!
  12. ^Wow Chuck is such a sneaky guy! I'm glad to hear you are having fun Big Mike! Keep the updates coming!
  13. I didn't know that Golden Horse made a fake SLC as well! I thought they were only working on perfecting their crappy spinning mouse ripoff! Those coasters do seem to be made for shorter people. I almost didn't fit in the fake SLC in Beijing Shijingshan. What a sad excuse for a ride that was. Thanks for the pictures. Now I just have to convince my wife to go back to China so we can hit some of the parks that we missed the first time. Thanks for sharing!
  14. ^That is good to hear. I loved my two rides and can't wait to ride it again on Termination Day!
  15. Ok since it is mentioned here I have always wondered about V2. How did they get it built and approved if it violated the height restrictions for the area. Were the rules changed after it was a built or did someone simply make a mistake in letting them build above 150 feet?
  16. I would generally agree with everyone about Scream, but when I was there last week it ran as smooth as I have ever seen it. It was almost as smooth as Medusa at SFDK. I couldn't believe it! As for the old B&M stand ups, they are rough.
  17. This park seems like it has improved since my visit a couple of years ago. They aren't going to make it great overnight, but they seem to be moving in the right direction. Unfortunately with this being a smaller park, they probably get the bottom of the barrel management wise, which would explain why it has taken so long for this park to improve at all. Over the past couple of years the big parks have made drastic improvements under Shapiro. Perhaps they are just now getting the talent needed to have it filter down to the smaller parks. When SFKK had a great management team, they were poached for SFMM. Now that Shapiro and company have been doing this for a few years lets hope that the bad managers have been weeded out for the most part. S:ROS is a fantastic ride if it is maintained and the rest of the park, while not great has enough to do. Throw in a classic woodie and a couple of average steels and its not that bad of a place if they can get the employees to smile, be friendly and pick up the trash. Oh and I agree about those slides. They are right there in the front of the park when you come in if I recall. The pool was green when I was there over two years ago. There is no excuse for this. Surely they can budget some money to tear these things down, or better yet refurbish them! Thanks for the TR!
  18. Well I am reading this. Thanks for all of the great reports. It is neat to see your kids grow up in the pictures.
  19. Thanks for sharing. Supersonic Odyssey really surprised me. In a country with not much to experience coaster wise, Supersonic Odyssey is a breath of fresh air! I can't wait to see the rest of your reports. Man I could sure go for some Malaysian food right now!
  20. ^So what does this mean for the park. Are they going to share parking, or will the park be bought out?
  21. ^Roar at SFDK does not still run GCI smooth. In fact, smooth is not a word that can be used to describe it at all. While it is not painful, the ride jacks you around quite a bit. This ride looks absolutely amazing. I have to get back to China to see the two new Happy Valley parks.
