The great thing about China is that they have a lot of cheap airlines offering flights around the country and most of the major cities have shiny new airports. Shanghai is an overnight train away from Beijing and most other major cities can easily be reached by plane. When I was traveling around the country I used ctrip.com to book a few flights. (It is a Chinese travel site.) Also, if going down to Hong Kong, it is often cheaper to fly into Shenzhen and just cross the border via train. Elong.com is another good Chinese travel agent site! With all of the Happy Valleys opening this is a great time theme park wise in China. It really is a fantastic country!!!

Jason, Thanks for continuing this awesome trip report! I absolutely fell in love with Alton Towers. It is just an amazing park. I agree with you about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I thought it to be cheap looking and disappointing, but Duel makes up for it!!! Once again, I am really enjoying seeing the trip through your eyes! Shawn

My thoughts EXACTLY!!! Same. The pictures from the German fair made me wish that I had decided to do Europe as well. It looked like such an awesome experience!!

I just caught up with this thread tonight so forgive me for going back a few pages. I am sad to hear that people were disappointed with Pleasure Island and all of the effort you put into the trip. Maybe I just was suffering from "back of the bus" syndrome, but I had a blast the entire trip and especially at Pleasure Island. Between the two bonus credits, another chance to squeeze my fat ass into a roller skater with Robb (I love you big boy ) and that awesome extended frisbee cycle how could anyone complain?? About halfway through the U.K. trip I posted the following status on my Facebook: It should be illegal to have this much fun! I don't think that I could summarize my trip any better. Thanks for allowing me to act like a 10 year old for the entire trip without having any of the normal worries of travel. I couldn't have asked for anything more and the trip exceeded my expectations in every way!!! And finally I just wanted to say that I am really enjoying your insight Elissa. Keep it coming!!

Thanks for the report. Movie World is definitely my favorite of the two, but Dreamworld provides more of a standard amusement park experience and the two compliment each other nicely.
