I just glanced over the pics 'cause I'm a bit squeamish about piercings. Matthew, you just went all out since you moved to Florida from Arkansas! I'd bet your mom would faint if she saw those! I will say this about piercing and tattoos: when you're young and in shape... fine. When you get older and out of shape... ewww. Just a little food for thought. RCT3 Custom Scenery
terrancew_hod replied to Ben Burnett's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
This may save some trouble: http://www.rct-theme-world.de/rct-liste/scenery.html This is a list of custom scenery; most of the links are active here and it's still updated. http://neton.rct-net.de/index.php This is a install of 40 different CSOs; including most of the commonly used objects. It has a readme of which ones are included. Terry -

Not sure if you know about the definition of tact, but that just means there are better ways of saying things than what you put in your critiques. For example, if you don't like the colors, say that you don't like them... not call them "lame-a$$ed". See the difference? One is nicer and keeps the mods off your back... considering that you got warned about that a few days back. Terry -
RCT3 Scenery Packs

Most of the people in my company, including me, just lost 10 days of vacation for next year. So I went from having three weeks to one. All of our development staff is from India and they used the three weeks to go home; I'm betting we lose a good chunk of the department by midyear. Terry

^The form is confusing but look near the top right of the form; there should be a graphic of 3 random characters and a text box. You should also see a 'Download file' button under there. Type the letters you see into the box and click the 'Download file' button directly under it and you should get the the next screen to actually download the file. Terry

Yes I have, and that's why I said what I did. And the main problem isn't the jerkiness, it's the fact that he has to use boosters to get over the hills, which was my first comment if you read my post. That means that the coaster isn't built correctly to let gravity carry it through the ride, and that's what needs to be fixed. The coaster he's trying to reproduce doesn't have them, so neither should his representation. Terry

Gumbo... that's a bit harsh. But we'll chalk it up to you being young... you should take time to read more before you make such statements. This does actually happen. In the reports I saw, it was usually an overweight person delivering. She wouldn't really notice the weight gain or would chalk it up to them continually overeating. Also they would attribute any changes as a result of being overweight (for example the swollen ankles). It's like some people carrying around large 100 lb tumors that they thought was just fat from them being overweight. Terry

I read a while back how giving your children a proper name helps them succeed in life. Guess the parents didn't care and set them up for failure and ridicule. They may say a name doesn't matter (I find it hard to believe according what the store they originally went to said), but it takes a certain type of parent that will use their own kids as guinea pigs for their theories. I feel for those kids when they have to look for jobs and they fill out the applications. Prepare to be passed over for jobs. I'm betting they use a nickname or run to the courthouse to get it changed when they're old enough. Guess Walmart won't mind though they're just looking for a retail gig. Terry

Cruising with Theme Park Review 2008!

Hey! No one says bad things about Miami but me! Crappy town! There's nothing for me to do on a Saturday night! I thought this was supposed to be a party town! Terry -
Cool!!! I have to hurry up and learn how to build with the custom objects! I just installed a lot of your work... and I'm trying to implement them on my first coaster project. Very awesome stuff! (Welcome to the site BTW) Terry P.S. I'm sure people can describe it better, but I'm thinking most of the "Bench" rides are shooting galleries. But a tracked dark ride would be cool too (especially one that could turn to a particular scene). Just make sure you have cute rodents, sharks, and hobbit feet as part of the custom objects.

I won an ipod shuffle at the company holiday party. Not sure what to do with it, since I have my regular ipod; but I guess I can put some dance mixes on it and use it for the gym. Regifting always works too! Terry

You know, if I got as many warnings and thread locks from the mods about starting threads in a short time as you have, that would probably mean you may want to stop making threads for a few weeks and look how others are doing it... not continue to do the same thing and risk getting banned. Just trying to help you out here. I'm pretty sure if you get another thread locked down, I'm thinking that's pretty much it for your posting privileges for a while. I was confused by your thread title because it sounded like a tutorial, not a request for help. Threads need to be clear and descriptive. Not trying to backseat mod, but I'm seeing you do the same things that so many others have done... and they are no longer with the site. I hate to see that happen, because this is such a great site and everyone should be able to participate... but their participation should meet the guidelines that have been set that everyone has to follow. With that said... I would first search Atari's website for these type of answers. If you did, you would have found this thread: http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=659210 This site has other hints and tutorials on RCT3, including links for custom scenery. Youtube also has some similar tutorials; just do a search for 'rct3' or 'rollercoaster tycoon 3' So, in review if you're having trouble posting on a forum: 1. Read all the stickies provided in every forum. This usually tells you what to and not to do on the forum. These are very important reads, otherwise they wouldn't be stickied (yeah I know that's not a word) Many people get warnings because they don't bother to read them. 2. Search the forum, or even google the question. This can usually give you your answer without creating a new thread. 3. Try to post in an existing thread. I believe there's a RCT help thread on this forum; a search would find it. If a thread exists where you can ask the question, then post it there. This is always better than creating a new thread. This is especially true here; since this forum has been around for years, I'm sure someone has already created the thread where you need to post a question. 4. If you can't find your answer in a forum or an existing thread to post your question, then create a new thread. The title needs to be clear and descriptive ("Please help: How do I make coster go underwater in RCT3?). The actual post needs to be descriptive and be grammatically correct: proper punctuation and case. (I believe you typed a run-on sentence, which is one sentence that should be broken up into many sentences. Also questions end with a question mark. You should ask your English teacher if you have problems; and definitely not post until you get that together as that's one of the things the mods are probably warning you on). Creating a thread draws attention to you and you want the right attention. Doing it incorrectly can be very bad. Remember, bad threads clutter the forum and the it's a burden on the mods to constantly manage this. It's kind of like walking around a library, crumpling up paper and throwing it on the ground. Security tells you to stop but you keep doing it. How long do you think it will take before security will remove your ability to clutter the room? ^I think that arch is there for a path to allow people in the new area. Terry -
^Like you said, I wouldn't argue with him of the reasons you outlined. Considering we have threads where people have barely created their parks despite the new guidelines, I wouldn't knock the ones that have their parks together. I see the updates on threads like these as giving a different view of what they have done so I have an idea of how they did it as well how some people have put their parks together. Putting parks like these take time and effort; so if they show a different view of their work to keep interest in their threads up until they add their next part, then that's a good thing. I began working on my park last weekend and it took me several hours just to put together a graveyard scene for my first ride.... and I'm only about 5% done (can't do anything simple!) and I know some of the pieces need to be redone. park closed for good.
terrancew_hod replied to the ghost's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
^I believe I gave you some constructive criticism and I don't see anything in your park that reflects that. Also, you're using the monorail to move the peeps around instead of using paths? So if you happen to get a lot of peeps in, I'm thinking they'll be upset because there will be long lines just to get in and out of the park. I'm not thinking that's good park planning. Just imagine going to a park with all the rides miles apart in lots of grass, with no stores or bathrooms, and if you want to get to the rides you have to jump in a crowded monorail. Would you want to visit a park like that? How long will that park stay in business? But that's is what I think this parks looks like. Even the most ghetto carnivals don't have you walking all over the place to get to their rides. To be honest, I'm don't think you're grasping the basic concept of the designing parks in RCT. The coasters you design look nice, but the placement and overall park design is... well... raunchy (That's the best word I can come up with at 2am). I mean you can't get upset when someone offers you the constructive criticism and you don't do it and someone then gives you an negative comment as a result. You can't get better with your parks if you keep doing your own thing then and expect positive comments. But I'm thinking this is more about getting validation than getting better. Also while mentioning the constructive criticism, have you taken my advice about opening the park out to see if the peeps can get in? This should have been the first thing you should have done before posting a new park. If you didn't and you have the same problem as before, I hope I don't see another post about a park closure and you got another park coming up. I'd have to issue you an Epic Fail as well for not implementing the constructive criticism, then falling foul of the guidelines for posting parks. Can I at least see some other rides in to fill in all the empty space and some benches, trashcans, bathrooms and a store... and paths? Please? Terry -
I looked at the prices and I saved more money when I got a pass under the buy a ticket in 2008 get 2009 free. The problem is that I'm not near any Six Flags park, so I have build in the plane ticket to get there; so I got a pass when I went to visit my parents. I didn't even renew my Universal pass because I only went once a year. Universal did send me a coupon for buy a one day pass and get the rest of the year free, so I'll use that for my birthday. Terry

terrancew_hod replied to the ghost's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
You're welcome. I don't envy the clean up and moderation you have to do, especially when you have to constantly remind people of stuff stated in the stickies... they are there for a reason. I think about that web video about posting for beginners where it said that most of the time it's better to post in an existing thread than create a new one. That's a very true statement, especially considering the number of members on this site and the cleanup mods have to do when people create a lot of low quality threads. In the three or more years I'm been a member of this site, I think I created no more than 4 or 5 threads... that's right: 4 or 5. That's because most of the time there wasn't a need to create a thread because someone already had or what I had to say most likely didn't require a new thread... or I just hijack someone's thread to make my point. In the case of the Rollercoaster Tycoon parks threads, there's been quite a few , based on their initial park progress, that could have just posted a park logo or what they had in the Preview thread since, honestly it wasn't ready for prime time. And some, that just created a paragraph about their park without any graphics and said "More coming soon" (never to be heard from again) could have just kept it to themselves. That's making clutter in the forum that the mods have to clean up. Help 'em out and make it so that every post you click on you know is going to be worth the click. I'm going to get off my soapbox now and go home so I can practice my landscaping skills in RCT3. I got some canyons and caves to make! Terry -
park closed for good.
terrancew_hod replied to the ghost's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
After reading the last two posts, I had to go back and look at your old parks as well as some other threads. I can see why there is a sticky about the rules about creating quality threads of parks that have progress. I see from all the uncompleted threads that this was a big problem for the mods. I'm thinking that because of your multiple threads of false starts and stops, you may be falling under this rule if you keep starting new park threads. If you are going to start over with this "East" park, I would keep it in the same thread instead of starting a new one. Also (and I've seen this with other people) I would suggest to only do an update when you have decent progress on your park. Also in your case I would make sure that you have the appropriate patches to the park applied and peeps can enter. Open your park and see if it works before you post. If you aren't sure, I would check out parks by others and compare what you have with others. To be honest, I think what you have in your threads are way too sparse to be displayed in a thread. There are no paths connecting rides, no shops, or anything that could considered as a open park. I'm not trying to be mean, but I'm just noting what I see so far. In my opinion, waiting until you a good start on a park to create a thread is far better than creating a number of uncompleted parks and possible drawing negative attention from a mod. Terry
