Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

That would be my guess. Close to it. Yes, there is more than just the purchase cost and all that but a very off year. I am not complaining however. I look at it from the long term point of view. Less money spent this year means more for 2016 and beyond. I don't think we have anything to worry about for the future plans. -

It will indeed be used for 2016. I am guessing with the harsh winter up here they want to remove Skyrider as soon as possible so they can do prep work for 2016 and just be ready to build. I won't speculate too much as it's far too soon, but we sure can have our dreams of what we want. I like that with the 2015 season pass purchase you get a Fast Lane Plus to use during the rest of 2014 (Haunt excluded) -

It's a spinning roller coaster that is indoors and themed to a glow in the dark fun house. -

I couldn't agree more, even if they kept the area as is, no HHN makeovers or added gore or anything like that. I understand that Rowling doesn't want to have any changes and that's all well and good, but to not allow the newest area of the park to not be open during their busiest time? Silly. Oh well, HHN is still shaping up to be something amazing and looks like at Noon today we will be getting the Thanksgiving themed house announcement based of their tease of "#Stuffing" yesterday.

Maybe the time wasn't right for the Wing Rider? I've been on three and I personally just never was impressed. X-Flight was the best of them all but I think a lot of that has to do with the low to the ground profile and close call elements around the ride. Either way, it's an exciting time to be a Wonderland fan. -

^^ ZIZ is the rumored name for the next coaster at Wonderland. It was always rumored to be a Flying coaster of sorts (or sadly I would now expect a Wing Rider) as Ziz is a mythical Griffin like bird that would fit in with the Leviathan and Behemoth names. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ziz -

Don't forget the area where the drop slides used to be as well as a lot of area between Mindbuster and the wave pool. Plenty of area for sure, but with the timing and such, it would seem to be a Splash Works/Soak City expansion and re-brand. -

I have two trains of thoughts for what the area could be used for. First would be the most obvious, and that would be expansion for Splash Works and a possibly rebranding to Soak City. With the area being so close to Splash Works and nothing else in that area anymore it would be logical to do that. Secondly, would yes, be the station/start/brake of a new coaster. Whether this is a launched B&M or something else who knows. I personally am hoping we do not see a Wing Rider, launched or not, in our park. Though I will be grateful to have a new coaster, I have not been a fan of wing riders. I'd much rather see B&M revisit the floorless or perhaps another company all together come in and do something. Have it interact with White Water Canyon and whatnot. Either way, I am excited for the next 2 years for sure. -
The show has gained viewers each and every year. The season 1 premiere had 5.4 Million views and the finale had 6 Million. By it's most recent season (Season 4), those numbers were up to 12.1 Million for the premier and 15.8 Million for the finale. So to say the popularity of the show has died off would not be accurate. I'll admit, after going to my first HHN last year in Orlando, that zombies are not that scary in most cases. There were some scares to be had in the house, but the scarezones were very mild and not scary for the most part. Was cool as a fan of the show to walk through iconic scenes and whatnot, but it just didn't work as an overall theme. That being said however, I am excited to see them keeping the branding at both parks as it will give the hardcore fans a chance to relive their favorite moments in the flesh.

I am both sad and happy to see this go. It's never been the best ride in the park by no means, however it kind of just been part of the park heritage. One of the few coasters that would actually make it into park commercials as most the other footage was from other parks in the chain (Paramount or Cedar Fair). You will bet I will be there on Sept 1st to close the ride out. -
I am pumped for this house for sure. After seeing the work that was done on the puppets last year for American Werewolf in London, I can only imagine how awesome it will be to see the Aliens and Predator franchises come to life right before our very eyes. I am almost certain this will be the house to beat in regards to production value this year. While not a fan of the film, it has to be noted that outside of the name, this is more of an original story which hopefully will lead to some creativity in design and scares. Last year was my first HHN in Orlando and I was hooked right from the get go, but I have a question. Is this the most amount of IP's used and both Orlando and Hollywood? Usually you may see one house that shares an IP or theme, but so far we have Face Off, Walking Dead, AVP and From Dusk Till Dawn. I will be at the event on the 25th and 27th of September and cannot wait to walk through some of my favorite movie franchises and have the crap scared out of me.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
PCW_Nut replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Am I the only one that doesn't get the theme, the colors or the setting for this coaster? Now, I get that the 66 Days At Sea stuff was really for the hardcore nerds out there but after 66 days in the water, you'd figure there would be just a little bit of water elements in the right. That would even be as simple as track color. With the left over from Pilgrim's Plunge/Girrafica I was almost certain there would be something even as simple as a splash effect flyover similar to Manta at Seaworld Orlando. I don't get where the barn, the farm, the windmill and other "themeing" elements come into play with the story of this ride. Normally I wouldn't care but when the park kept pumping how they were the first theme park in the US, even before Disney, they just kind of pooped out a rough story and then slapped it together like a poorly made PB&J sandwich. I get you're being saved by the thunderbird and all, I just don't see how that plays into the name when starting inside a barn with clouds/lightning going off. Either way, I will say that for HW this will be a great addition and I am not going to judge the ride itself based off the theme, however I will say that Winged coasters have yet to amaze me in their ride experience. Gatekeeper and Wild Eagle both are very "meh" and X-Flight is the best of the three but mostly based off their keyhole and fly through type elements. -

I am very much looking forward to riding this when I am down there in September for HHN as I am indeed a Potter fan so this has been on my radar for quite sometime. Much like most dark ride POV's, I think that, while you can see everything on the ride in this video, nothing will do it justice like actually being on it. So, I am glad to hear that it rides better than it looks. As for the credit debate, I would consider it as much as a credit as Wonder Mountain's Guardian. Both are very dirty credits for those that care, but at the end of the day, if those count Journey To Atlantis as a credit than they should count this. Question Robb, did you get a chance to try the butterbeer ice cream? I am not sure if you are a fan of butterbeer or not but curious if you had any opinion of the ice cream form?
