  1. Very nice software Tomi! It has a few glitches here and there, but that is to be expected. Otherwise, I found it very easy to use, and I managed to do what I wanted with it.
  2. ^ probably to be messing around, i set one of my roller coasters to max once, it literally never sped up or slowed down because some part of the train was a the top of a hill, and the other end of the train was at the bottom
  3. ^ I'm Glad they did, I had to make due with paint since i could not find any technical drawings of the mechanisms, and I dont have cad
  4. Oh wonderful Title Fairy, If you would be so kind as to give me a custom title, I would be absolutely honored. You may make it anything with which you see best fitting for me. I thank you in advance and will now patiently wait for your response.
  5. If you remember, do you mind telling me what rides they were riding?? and around what time?
  6. ^ I know this isnt really stupid, but it makes me laugh, since I work near the danny phantom flyers at Carowinds I have had a couple of guests come to me either really concerned or coming to me to complain about guests that were going to break the ride by snapping the cables. When I assured one group of people that the ride was designed to do that he threatened to go over and ride it doing that to make the ride collapse... Again it wasnt stupid, it just made me laugh.
  7. That's ok with me as I'll be at KD tomorrow. Here's a question for you although it's more of a mechanical/engineering one related to trains rather than structural/track design. How in the heck does the ratcheting restraint system(especially on OTSR's function & what exact components are used in what ways to accomplish that? I understand how it works, having worked at Afterburn. Unfortunately it is very hard to describe without any visual aids whatsoever. Here goes, At the end of the OTSR on a B&M inverted roller coaster there is an axle that runs behind the headrest connecting the two sides of the OTSR. Connected to that axle is a star shaped wheel as demonstrated by my awful 5 second drawing in Fig. 1 Along that same axle, but able to spin freely of the axle is the unlocking mechanism Fig. 2 This surrounds the star wheel and is turned in order to unlock the restraints. Finally, there are the "pins" for lack of a better word. These are the parts that actually lock the restraint Fig. 3 They are held in the lock position by a spring until the unlocking mechanism pushes them to the side. Fig. 4 shows the locked restraints, with the arrows showing the movements to unlock the restraints. I hope this helps you to understand how the ratcheting OSTR works, and i would like to remind you that this is probably not 100% accurate, but as close as i can get by simply observing one on Afterburn. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Do keep in mind that there are two "star wheels" and eight "pins" FIG. 1 FIG. 2 FIG. 3 FIG. 4
  8. I agree, although no one said that you had to send all three rides to the same park.
  9. Dude if this is true that means your park is getting four additions in two years. I cannot see how you have anything to complain about. --Robb "Your posts is EXACTLY why parks get annoyed with enthusiasts." Alvey Either you like or you dont, in my case I don't. to me it's not about the quantity, it's the quality. Now, don't get me wrong. Like I stated before, it's great we're getting 3 additions if it is true. But I would rather have 1 huge(frisbee) flat instead of 3 old tradtional flats. IMO! I agree completely with Robb on this one as well. And If you dont want them, I would gladly take them down at Carowinds in a heartbeat. Of course they arent as good as a topspin, or a giant frisbee, but its an addition in a section of the park that is lacking, we do not have very many flat rides and these would be a great addition to the park.
  10. You spelled nude wrong... I wouldnt do this, it would probably end up hurting certain areas
  11. I rode both as well, and they are certainly not horrible! This ride remains among my favorite at carowinds.
  12. You perfectly explained their logic... and the best part is that Cincinnatti is a receeding city, while charlotte is one of the only growing cities right now.
  13. ^ at top spin would be an amazingly good addition for carowinds. With some good planning I think we could fit one in the county fair area as well.
  14. Exactly... and yet there are people wondering how on earth someone could get decapitated by batman, and therefore fear any ride similar in design.
  15. ^ yeah, really. What did that have to do with the topic? besides, most of them are probably privately owned. As for headspin going to carowinds, I could really care less. Am I happy about CF's decision, no, never would I think that a boomerang would be a wise decision for a park as big as Carowinds. I personally think that they are making an unwise decision. Will I still go to the park? yes, of course I will go there plenty of times. Will I cry and whine if carowinds does not get a major coaster next year? certainly not. however, I believe it is in the best interest of the park to add either a coaster, or some new flats sometime soon to keep attendance up.
  16. Great news for you guys! Now its just our turn do you really think that there would be a splashdown and then some more to the ride, because typically the splashdown is the ending to the ride...
  17. ^ Oh. That makes sense now. adding to this topic: this never happened to me, but one of my co-workers ended up with two parents who were absolutely mad as could be. Turns out that they were mad at him for telling their kids that they shouldn't have unbuckled their seat belts and moved seats while the ride was moving.... figured that he ended up getting a guest mad at him for enforcing a rule that is there for their very own safety.
  18. I hope that they paint nighthawk black and purple to match the sign. It would look much better that way. I agree with the general consensus about adding a few flat rides. However, i would not bet money on us getting any right now unfortunately.
  19. An uphill section could be easily done, just as long as you have water flowing over that part of the track/slide, and as long as you have enough momentum. Rafts like those have a lot of weight, therefore they should have enough momentum to be carried uphill for a little bit.
  20. ^ but isnt it obvious? Cedar point is waaaaay more important than carowinds, therefore it needs to get all of carowinds funding to pay off its own rides... >.> J/k, I am honestly not happy about getting a boomerang.
  21. Agreed! As for the best rides, Afterburn is certainly the best, however there are some other decent rides as well. Just make sure you do not miss afterburn is all i am saying.
  22. ^^ ride afterburn a lot, nighthawk's line moves really slowly, try to either hit that first, or depending on what day, whenever the line is kind of short ( that is if you really want to ride it) Go on a weekday. thats it for the most part. If you go on a weekday you can pretty much hit everything you want easily
