Photo TR: Monster Mansion is now OPEN!
Coasterlvr_nc replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Great TR Eric! I just got the chance to ride Monster Mansion on Thursday, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was a real surprise, especially for Six Flags. My only real problems with the park that I saw was the "I don't want to be here" attitude, and goliath's crew moving rather slowly... They were stacking trains for 20 to 30 seconds. -

To answer your question, yes it is. Afterburn at carowinds does this as well. And i am sure that plently of more rides do too. -
Who told you?!? ..... >.>

If it is not an inconvenience to the honorable title fairy, if you were to grant me a new custom title i would be honored. It doesn't matter what, just something new. Thanks in advance

You should be fine, and be able to ride. The Shoulder restraint is made of two vests, one for each shoulder, that you slip your arms under and then click together. These are extendable by the belts that hold them ( like a car seatbelt) and they are fairly forgiving. The lower restraint is a hip bar, for larger guests there are ways to get them to fit (including siting more upright than you normally would, among other things) and as long as the hip bar has been locked and the sensors clear the seat, then you should be fine. If you have any more questions feel free to ask since I have had a few weeks of experience working at nighthawk during scarowinds last year.

^ yes i forgot about admissions. ^^it is and always has been 16 to do rides. It doesnt have to do with CF, it has to do with labor laws/restrictions. And because of those, in NC all roller coasters much have someone 18 or older in the drive position. In SC all roller coasters with a rating of "5" must have a driver be 18+. This means that a 16 or 17 year old can drive runaway reptar, fairly odd coaster, and thunder road. All other rides positions can have anyone age 16+ to operate. -

It depends what department you want to work in, Rides:16 Games:15 with labor law restrictions. Merchandise: " " Food and Beverage: 15 with restrictions (you can only work the cash register.) Park Services: I'm not entirely sure what the age minimum is for park services, but I think it is 16. -
Questionable Top 10 Coaster List
Coasterlvr_nc replied to PhillyGirl's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My opinion is that none of the books, or articles published are even remotely close to what rides are actually the best. I believe that they just choose rides that may look the most impressive IE, KK or TTD because of their height, or rides that have broken some sort of record at some point in time. Just my 2 cents. -

Because unfortunately, Carowinds no longer owns that land. Paramount sold off all of the land near the park. And it is spelled Hurler. -

In all honesty the decision is up to you. However, my experiences were sort of similar to those of Tyler's (only to a vague extent). I started working at Carowinds when I was 15 years old, not old enough to operate the rides. At the beginning of last year, I decided to try out rides for a change but I really, really wanted Afterburn. Because of my rehire status in my old department, I was able to be the first person with afterburn on their contract. This is where my story differs from Tyler's. I did stay at afterburn, for about a month and a half actually. But, during the first week working up there, I was slowly being disappointed because of all of the hype I had created in my head. (Just don't let it get to you!) Afterwards, I began to make friends and have fun. My reason for telling this is because at the beginning, you may be slightly disappointed as well. During my month and a half at afterburn, I decided to apply for the assistant supervisor position. After my interview, my choices were to accept the co-supervisor position and be in nick-central or stay at afterburn. I did take the co-supervisor position for the experience, and honestly, I haven't regretted it to this day. Because of my attitude towards my job, no matter where I work. Whether I'm supervising my usual area, or nick-central as a whole, I would always enjoy every day working with the friends I have made over the summer. Moral of the story, it doesnt matter where you work, but how you go about doing your job.

Yes, We do in fact have it, but unfortunately the video is very "Choppy" as other people had put it. The video will also show clips from off the ride, and then continue to show the same clip it had shown earlier. The videos on Afterburn do show your entire ride, I just do not like the way that they chose to edit it.

Griffon Question
Coasterlvr_nc replied to vacoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it would have looked nice if they had made it into a mountain IMO, it could have been done very easily. And it would have looked a whole lot nicer than it looks in its current state because honestly, those bars really stick out and are quite unattractive. -
Griffon Question
Coasterlvr_nc replied to vacoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It is there to protect the train from any objects/gondolas?? that may fall from the skyride. That is the only purpose it serves unfortunately. -
